Because of the high population density and high real estate demand of the combined Emory University, Emory Hospital, and CDC all together, prices will be very high in the immediate vicinity. But the Emory/CDC neighborhood and nearby Decatur are relatively low-crime areas compared to "metro Atlanta" in general. Still have pockets of higher crime around the MARTA lines and less advantaged neighborhoods. Commuting in from the suburbs or even farther out would probably quickly become VERY tedious - 2 hours or more each way would be a frequent occurrence. She might look for a rental house in some of the old residential neighborhoods out around the Northlake Mall area where there are two major feeder roads that could be used to access the Emory area (Briarcliff and LaVista).
