Geotextile Fabric

   / Geotextile Fabric #21
Looks like good advise so far. The typical driveway around our area has 6" or so of imported inorganic material on top of the fabric. The local highways have at least 12". Local streets are 8-12" much below 5" and you can start to expose the fabric with driving and grading. We start with 1 1/2" minus for the first 4-5" and top that with 2" of 3/4" minus.

As stated, the good drivers can tailgate the loads and do most of the work for you. You will still need to get a good crown on it.

The "best" fabric with be what the local construction yard (concrete block, masonry tools, concrete tools etc) carries. They will dial you in.

Make sure you control your water first. No amount of fabric will correct drainage issues. The general rule of thumb I have heard is fabric will cut your stone use in half. Whatever you end up doing, don't dig a hole and fill it with good intentions only to create a swimming pool.
