Yup, me also. I would say you could use my land, but by then the house will be almost done. ....

Have to agree not much of a ball player or watcher for that matter , ...... was alway of the opinion that if I cann't do it and /or enjoy it , I will not be doing it again if I have a chioce ,,,,,, thank you .....

Maybe we could make it more fun and challenging by building a bobsled run on a level field. That might keep us all busy for a few hours... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

By what I been reading..clearing a good size lot..baseball field..bobsled run and what else may come along..also equipment working w/helpers,are we going to need a permit,/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif for the people in the area might think were building amusement park. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

One idea I had, if we were to get say 20-30 people to attend a get-together, and a certain number of them wanted to bring their tractors (I know a lot of you guys have trailers /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif), we could take part of the day (or weekend if it were) as an opportunity to do something for a local charity ... whatever it may be ... grade a road or trail in a local park, or do something for a local area school, or some grounds work for a local charity ... just a thought. Would give us some play time while helping a good cause.

Dang-it I miss a few days and everyone is planing a get together. Are we Virginians invited ? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I cant make the Feb one but I can definitely make the august one. Also I doubt my better half would really like to go so I will have an extra seat in the truck for someone who would like to carpool.

Just keep me posted I will try to make any date after spring. I agree with JM III on an all day affair.

I checked out the vendor list and man it is mind boggling. I will try and talk the better half into coming with me but I seem to get the same look that I also get when on TBN to long /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Muhammad,

That is an excellent idea. Maybe it could be applied in general rather than to one specific get-together - groups of TBN members who join up from time to time to do charitable work in their area.

I'm probably in the minority on this one (just like on the softball idea/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif), but I would be glad to donate some time and a few tractor hours to the right cause. I'm sure there are people on TBN (RPM, I think?) who do this already on their own.

Could also broadcast this over the internet. A friend broadcast his wedding, in St Thomas USVI, to Maryland, San Diego, and Sydney Australia. We could have some east coast/west coast interaction...

I could roast a pig and some veggie burgers... /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif We did that for my birthday; it was a lot of fun!

First, great idea. Countme in.

Second, I like the idea of an event, but Seneca Falls is getting out towards the edge of the target zone if it's between Rochester and Syracuse. That's probabably 3hrs west of Albany?

I think there is a big fair in the Springfield mass area. Does that get back more towards the geographic center? It's accessible from the east/west by I-90, and the north/south via I-91.

Thoughts?

Are you thinking of the "Big E"... Springfield area...?

I was very disappointed this year... mostly food and bazaar type atmosphere...

Basically 0% Ag... about 4 or 5 antique tractors and two new John Deere on display on the entire property {maybe 30 or so acres?}

I'd love for a get together, but also like to kill "five" birds with one stone... such as Empire Farm, NY Farm, Kentucky Farm, PA Farm... even Calif. Farm if they have it.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I attend most every local county fair in my area, but nothing can compare to the Empire Farm... 99% machinery... in one day or possibly two, you can view probably every backhoe model Bradco, Kelly, Woods, Great Bend, BushHog, Ameriquip, & Unknown brands Galore ... you can imagine... multiply that out with the same in basic rudiments as rotary cutters, finish mowers, rakes, loaders, rear blades, box blades, spreaders, etc. and then all the specialty and exotic pieces of equipment we dream of and never actually knew even existed...

Not to mention- the latest, newest, & prototypes on display for most every single compact tractor model by Kubota, New Holland, John Deere, AGCO, Chinese, Korean, European sold in the U.S.A.... all in one place...! To touch, smell, feel, kick the tires, sit on, play with, inspect down to the finite detail and turn and do the same with every other model...

Here's a perfect opportunity to rub elbows and talk turkey with the actual engineers that designed this fine equipment, factory reps, service reps, etc. etc.

I think a venue such as Empire Days is a perfect occasion that doesn't arise too often... that we all should take advantage of… /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Is there anything at Empire Days that our better halves would enjoy? I just printed out the information from the website and proposed to my bride of 25 years that we spend that whole week at Empire Days and in the area as a summer vacation. I can imagine myself walking around gazing at all the new stuff, but will a non-tractor type soon lose interest? Also, the Finger Lakes region is also wine country, right? That might swing the deal for my wife. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif I'm almost ready to make reservations.

I felt that moving it closer to the coast would probably exclude the western NY/PA folks. Doesn't really sound like there's anything within driving range to beat Empire Days. Of course, if you all wanted to try out my bobsled run... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I regret missing your birthday bash last year. It ain't easy scheduling around the kids' athletic activities, but with a little planning we should be able to work out something for the future.

Now that we have the profile search, I see that we have maybe a couple dozen northern California members. All we need now is a scatter diagram to see where a good central location would be. With any luck it'll be right in your back yard.
