Getting rid of Moles/Voles

The most effective deterrent is eliminating their food source. We got rid of the grubs and the moles moved out. :D

Moles eat a lot more than just grubs, worms actually make up a bulk of their diet. You can not eliminate their food source.

OH.... Wait Missouri

It is illegal to have oral sex.
Single men between the ages of twenty-one and fifty must pay an annual tax of one dollar (enacted 1820).
It is illegal to speed

Sounds like a decent place to live.

I probably have 35 moles in the yard right now. The tunnels are everywhere. And I've tried 2 different kinds of traps and have not caught or killed a single one. What's the secret to your success?

Don't trap the hills or feeding areas (looks like your lawn is a messed up carpet areas). Trap the tunnels. Press your heel into a tunnel to collapse it. If it pops back up in a day or so, its and active run. Then set a Victor Out O Sight trap and wait. If you have sandy or other soft soil, sheet metal screw or pop-rivet a canning jar lid to the trigger to increase the surface area.

This product hit the PNW with a lot of fanfare. I know a lot of people who bought it and liked it.

Not sure on how they work on Gophers, seems to small to do any damage, but my neighbor uses this on his yard and has pretty good luck

MOLECAT - The Best Way to Get Rid of Moles | More Efficient Than a Mole Trap

I think in the end, mastering trapping skills is the best idea, and from what I have heard from a lot of people, this is the best trap Trapline Products | Gopher Traps

The pinchers are OK, the spikes don't work so well.

$120 for a mole trap!!! :confused3:

Victor Out O Sights are about $12

This is the best trap I have found for moles:

That's a Nash choker loop trap. I don't like them because they don't kill the mole very fast. They don't have enough spring pressure. I've found many live moles in that trap and had to dispatch them with a bow to the head. I've also found a couple moles dragging that trap across my yard! So I felt it was inhumane and stopped using it after the first year. I switched to the Victor Out O Sight traps exclusively.

Thanks for all the responses everyone. The moles in my yard in Maryland are the worst I've seen in 25 years. Some areas are nothing but tunnels, seems and entire 4x6' areas are raised. I picked up some TOMCAT mole killer worms.. They are ~6" long, look similar to a worm, and you push them into active tunnels or areas. Moles reportedly eat them and die. Let's hope so. Little Ba$tards.... Will report back in a few days.... thanks

Its too hard to trap a 4 x 6 feeding area. You have to find the active tunnels leading to and from feeding areas to their home areas. Once you find those tunnels, trap em out of your yard, then patrol the perimeter for the rest of your natural days....

Try the GrubX to get rid of their food source. Its really effective.

I've put Grubx down 2x this season... It generally works on my property, little effect this year.

I've heard that lots of times, but I've tried applying stuff that's supposed to get rid of the grubs; can't say for sure that I don't have any grubs, but sure should not have.

Mole's primary food source is earth worms. They do eat insects larvae like grubs, too. They eat anything that's protein (they don't eat plants). Use grub-x if you have grubs. But don't use it if you don't have grubs. Gotta prove the grubs are there first, otherwise its a waste of money. ;)

Very true. That said, the Pincher Trap can be sold by anyone (meaning you can buy it at your local mole killing store). Funny law. Everyone has the pinchers in my hood because the work. Illegal of course but you can by them on the street.

Psst. Hey buddy.... Wanna buy a pincher trap?

My father-in-law did... he's used so many chemicals, fertilizers and concoctions on his yard that its now a sterile growing medium for grass.... we took a core sample with a 1 pound coffee can and found two, yes two, small living insects. That's it.
