My brother is up the top of the country experiencing some prolonged heat


I'm currently 1800 miles south east on the coast and it's 112.5

And I'm even more South of you... fortunately missing the extreme heat & conditions (East coast of Tassie is in drought though)

All of 21c (72F-ish) today.

I heard it was 46 C (114.8 F) somewhere. Of course, it gets that hot here in USA some places.

Currently in Melbourne. Today temps reached 43 to 46.
At home in BC Canada severe snow forecast upwards of 40 to 95 centimetres
of the white stuff 45” for those on imperial.
Looking at the forecast for northern Saskatchewan where a Farmer
Friend of mine lives his forecast was for -45 C.

Hard to believe a 90 degree temperature difference.
Are we missing our Canadian Winter? Nope.
Do we appreciate the heat? Nope.

At least when it’s cold we can add another layer.
Too hot, there is only so much we can take off.

For our Ozzie friends I hope the catastrophic fires do not affect you.

Funny you say about the light. As I was walking around yesterday I noticed the shadows from the trees were a purplish colour. Had to look twice. Very weird.

Needles California often beats that number.
I believe the record there is 122F.

Fire seasons are high on the list the worst things I can think of. My heart goes out to the residents of Australia and California.

When I was in the RAAF we did an exercise in the Kimberleys, daytime temps were around 55 (131), THAT WAS very unpleasant, I have been to Arizona and know how hot that is too.
If we are invaded we just wait for them to shrivel up then brush them away.
I like Victoria as it doesn't get hot, HA HA HA!!!
