Glock 43

   / Glock 43 #81
As I have said earlier, I want an easily concealable, completely reliable 9mm. From what I can read and from the people I have talked to the Glock 43 is what I want. I am looking for somebody to say DON'T buy it because...?.

Nobody has said that yet.

Caliber of the weapon does not matter. SHOT PLACEMENT is what matters. Doesn't matter if you carry a 25 or a 45. If you don't hit your target in the right place he ain't going down. Getting a second shot on target is the next most important thing. Ammo for a 9mm is about the cheapest you can buy. Cheap ammo means you practice more. More practice means more hits in critical areas of the target. More practice means you get that second shot off on target quicker and more accurately.

Does anybody have anything bad to say about the Glock 43?

No. Besides glocks are ugly. And I sold my glock because I dont like the grip angle. A 1911 fits me so much better.

So go buy it. If you dont like it, you can sell it and either make money or break even depending if you bought it right.

And a little more... not knowing your hand size but if you have large hands, you might also want to look into the new 43X if you are bent on getting a Glock. To me the grip and feel is very important.

You did say to try to talk you out of the 43... here is another youtube vid. I know nothing about Sigs but this P365 is interesting compared to the 43. Some say a Sig isn't as reliable as a Glock. But hard to argue capability especially if your hands fit it. I picked up one of these at a gun show but my biggish hands didn't like it.

Two years ago I was talking to my friend who is in a state police management position and the conversation came up about them switching from the Clock in .40 caliber because of all the debate over .40/9mm/357 Sig. One of their arguments for the 9mm was that they were hiring a lot more females and most of them had problems with the larger grips on the current S&W M&P which affected their accuracy and inability to get off a good second round.

I told him that the next time the subject was brought up to suggest they just go back to the old S&W Model 10 round butt. LEs carried that one for years a long time ago and it was considered reasonably effective and the round butt would fit large or small hands. Issue everyone two speedloaders and pouches and their problem is over!

Personally I established 9mm as my single caliber years ago to reduce reloading/purchasing/storage issues of multiple calibers. I've got 12 centerfire pistols - 11 are 9mm. My wife bought me a .380 for Christmas when the Sig P238 first came out. 1 out of the 11 is an M&P 9mm long and the other 10 are Sig 9mms. Of those, the P239 is my choice for concealed carry (along with an extra mag in my left pocket) and I have a set of Crimson Trace grips on it.

I like having a single platform in a single caliber, the fact that I'm trained to the fact that my pistols don't have a safety and across the board, they all have about the same point of impact within 25 feet. I reload my practice ammo to almost the same specs as personal defense ammo so my point of aim and impact remain the same.

Kinda goes along with the old saying of "beware of the man that only owns one gun - he's probably pretty good with it".

All said and done, my friends shoot S&W, Kahr, Kimber and Glocks and they all shoot well, I just like my Sigs.

RSKY - if you like the Glock and the caliber - get the darned thing, it's not all that much about what brand you've got hanging on your belt, it's about how well you do with it.

I'm a Sig kind of guy.

Have no qualms carrying a 220/226/228/229 (particularly if it's West German) but no issues with American made models as well (figure it's hard to screw the design up).

That said, since Sig moved to NH and became "Americanized" per their marketing and product selection, that's about the only pistols I'd ever buy from Sig. A plastic Sig made in the US? Forget it.

I have no doubt that the P365 has had issues. Sig made in America when it comes to plastic guns and rifles just sucks IMO (they still can't figure out that making a European battle rifle in the US generally doesn't work). Their customer service is spotty at best (I've had to deal with them) and their marketing department chooses models like peeing in the wind, anywhere. Only my opinion.

One ' good ' thing about the Glock 26 or 27, is that they can take any size Glock double stack mag. You can carry a 33 round mag as backup, if you are crazy enough. The pistol is a little thicker than the single stack 43, so you have to be able to live with that. But life is all about choices, and buy what YOU want.... :)

Yes. I can say something bad about the G43. The G43 X is more comfortable in my hand with a better grip, it holds 4 more rounds, is only 3/4 taller, and is prettier. But seriously, the 43 is a great gun. But I still like my Sig 365 better. It has a better trigger, is smaller, and has a higher capacity. You really couldn稚 go wrong with any of these three.

As far as the 380 EZ, the slide is certainly so easy to operate. But dang it痴 a big gun for a .380. And every .380 I致e ever owned was very finicky with ammo, and seemed to have problems with reliability. Maybe the Smith is better.

The 43X fits my hand too but it is the same size as my Kahr and I want/need something a little smaller. That is the reason I am trading/buying a different weapon. I shot a 43 this past weekend and surprised myself by being able to hit with it just as well as I did the Kahr.

Amen. "anything worth shooting once is worth shooting twice"

True words. When we had a skunk problem a few years ago (spent 10 days in an apartment while deskunksmelling the house) I shot everything I trapped with a 3" magnum #4 buckshot with 41 22cal pellets. Figured it was the same as shooting each one 41 times with a 22 rifle.

Gave me a great sense of satisfaction.

It did make a heck of a mess to clean up. Had to throw away four traps, four sets of gloves, and two sweatshirts after dispatching three skunks and a recently sprayed possum.
