Yep, best time to buy is end of month of December. You have the end of the year, the end of the month and Christmas all going for you.

I got my Tahoe off a dealer who was driving it as his own vehicle for a couple months. It had 2,200 miles on it and I got it for $14,000 off sticker. He also threw in a couple extra goodies and treated me great.

i hear ya. i would LOVE to snag a deal on a used 2500 HD with the diesel but i am not seeing these "wonderful" prices that everyone is claiming you can get.

I would look for a early 2007 or before 1 ton/3500 Single Rear Wheel. It will tow the same weight as a 2500 but have about double the payload capacity. Which will make it tow that weight better due to it being able to handle the increased tonge weight.

Trust me, I have owned 2 3/4 tons and kicked myself for buying them and 3 1 tons. Get a SRW 1 ton and you will be happier.

Well, no, it really doesn't make any difference as to which month. The month end of December is definitely no different than the month end of June. For the most part dealers do end their month's business at the end of the month. However, most manufacturers do give them a few days into the next month to enter the last month's business. With those dealers, the ones trying to make the last month look better by robbing a few sales from the next month, the first or second day of a month would be the best time to buy. But, for the most part, the last couple days of any month is the best time to work a sales manager over on the price. Of course there are end dates for incentives as well. They may end in the middle of a month. In those cases the best time would be right before the incentive ends. Make sense? :)

Yup, At least it is here.

After xmas the bills come in and after that property taxes bill comes. No one here from the 1st till February's end is browsing the lots.

Dargo,
I guess your luck is like mine!!!:D:D:D I have been watching and learning, but no money spent in the stock market.

Dan

Oh man, right now Ford is about a buck thirty a share and GM is down in the $2.50 range. :(

Where is the bottom? Zero???

For you and the American economy I pray that they don't go away. I think the butt-load of money spent on AIG should have gone to the auto industry. I'll shut up about that now!

I spoke to my Case dealer /friend today. He said last year tractors came in with duct tape and bailing wire. He did not fix the things that were cobbled. He is still seeing duct tape and bailing wire this year, but more. In his mature wisdom he thinks the bottom is not here yet!

I think we all need to look to the future with better hopes, but then again hold on like driving with redneck saying, "watch this!"

No, that makes no sense. The month of December is better deals than the month of June because the month of December contains this long forgotten holiday known as "Christmas". This holiday causes would be car shoppers to spend money on gifts rather than cars making car dealers even more desperate for your business.

As mentioned above, it's also end of year time and dealers want to pad their sales numbers.

I know, you're a heavy hitter and an insider in the business world and way out of our league in financial prowess, but I'm related to a car dealership owner :) and I got the inside scoop from him. It's all good. :) He tells me over & over that his car dealership & area owners all say Dec is their worst month.

Sorry to rock your world, but I've had part ownership in a couple of dealerships as a silent partner for almost 20 years. I know you just hate statistics and apparently don't believe in actuarials, but we do love people like you to drop into our stores. I love customers who come into my business and tell me how it's run. And, for your "pad the numbers" theory, it's sort of comical when you know the business. For some dealers December almost doesn't exist. Factories are not nearly as lenient on reporting December sales in January. They want to get their books closed for the year. After holding months open as long as possible during the year, December is the month that sets everything straight again.

I don't have any business interests in the construction business nor will you see me dispensing information on running a construction company. I try to stick to what I know when pontificating about specific businesses and the nuances of operating them. Just because I've sat in a dentist's chair I don't feel as if I can be a dentist. And, just because I've overseen the construction of a couple homes and businesses, I don't feel as if I can dispense information on how to construct them.

But, hey, I do have some lovely beachfront property I'd in Arizona I'd love to talk to you about. ;)
