Going out or staying in tonight?

Temperature is 12F and windy with snow. I'm staying in and feeding the wood stove. I might make midnite but don't hold your breath. I have never gone to a new years house party and the only time I was in a bar at new years was in 1973 in Boca Raton, FL while I was on holidays there.
We got an inch of snow today and there is another 2-3" coming overnite and more tomorrow, along with the wind will make for some drifting. I will have to blow in the morning.

Staying home, I may work "Straight Key Nite" this evening. That is one night a year where amateur radio operators use Morse code with the old manually operated "straight keys".. Like you would see in an old movie, instead of our electronic keyers or keyboards. Well of course some old timers actually use straight keys all the time, but I rarely work using CW (morse code) at all, and when I do, it will be with an electronic keyer. but I do have have an old navy fireproof key still in good working order. Here is a video of one a guy in San Salvador has.
So not as much fun as going out and getting drunk, but hey what can I say, I am old.

We usually host a small family/friends party at the shop. We do a low county boil then set around a big fire until the new year, but this year we have not slowed down long enough to plan or do anything.

The wife has to work tonight (ER) and I had plan to stay home, but our little town is having the first ever ball drop tonight...LOL. Since we help sponsor the cost of building the thing we have been asked to come out and see it.

I guess I will head to town for the big event, then go by and see the wife for a few (always something crazy happening on new years). Our big new years day plans involve finishing up some new fence and moving cows......

Stayin put tonight. We just got back from visiting my parents in ohio. you guys making me hungry, pork and kraut was something my mom always made for new years. And some Pad Thai would be good right now also. We are having pork, but no kraut tomorrow. Have a Happy New Years y'all.

It was 15 here around dinner time, so we decided to button up the goats and chickens early for the night, and lock up the house with the pellet stove roaring. I see now it's 12 so definitely no plans to go anywhere. I might be up till midnight surfing here! :laughing: But probably not. I want to get a few things done tomorrow, but I may not be motivated if it doesn't warm up a bit.

After spending today working in my woods gathering and cutting fire wood the last place I want to go is out on the town. A great supper of Lamb Chops, a few spirits, and lights out.

Went over to some TBN friends tonight ... his wife fixed the wife's sauerkraut and sausage dumplings recipe with her own twist: Italian sausage instead of the normal sage/hot sausage mix ... was very good ...

Plus mashed potatoes with hot sausage and gravy ... was a spread fit for a king.

Didn't make it to midnight - one too many margaritas ...

Came home and Cupcake helped me gather in firewood ... we should be good for the night and the better part of the day tomorrow.

I'm heading back up to the shop to see if I can't get a little something done before I hit the rack.

Went over to some friends a few miles down the road like we usually do. Played cards and rang in the new year with a few drinks and too much food. Home now but not quite ready for bed. Happy New Year TBN
