That landpride is built by hustler. Should be the same unit that you tested by them.

ih,
Sounds like you have first hand experience with Snapper.
Care to share some insite, as I'm still undecided.

I've got a friend who works on small engines. I thought I'd settle it with the B&S vs Kolher "angle".
He said they're both good engines but he's a little unsure about the somewhat "new" generation of Kolher.
He's had some repairs on the lifters, but I guess you can have problems with any of them.
So, nothing settled yet.
I should add, the Snapper gets "rave" reviews on another forum I've checked.

This past spring I decided to get a zero turn. I checked out all the local dealers and a few on-line. I ended up with a Kubota ZD21, it's a 21 horse diesel with a heavy 60" fabricated deck. My only regret - not buying 1 sooner. The diesel is very quiet and it's great on fuel.

I'm now mowing 5-6 acres every week in less than half the time it took with a rider and my L3710. With the rider I would mow the 3 acres closest to the house every week and use my L3710 to knock down the 10 acres front yard once a month.

Enjoy the ZTR, you're going to love it.

We just purchased a ZD21 with the 60" ProDeck and it is totally awesome, we are very impressed to say the least. Super quiet, no vibration, fuel miser, and extremely powerful.

The only major problem we've encountered is why we did not get this first class machine a long time ago..... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks IH, I had noticed some similarities with the Hustler, I think I'll take a spin on it anyway, I like the 20 HP Honda engine it has and the Hustler Super Z was one of my top 3.

I think one of Graybeard's initial post dealt with price and with the Country Clipper Jazee and the Landpride Razor both coming in at $4,500.00 in Central Kentucky they seem to be good units for the money. The Landpride here is priced about $1,200 lower than the Hustler Super Z but I haven't looked at the Landpride up close yet so I don't know if their comparable units. If I had the money of course I'd go with a Kubota Diesel or Bobcat Diesel which uses a Yanmar engine. Those are both nice units but well outside my budget.

Bird, my folks have a neighbor up in Illinois that has a lawn care business and uses Toro mowers. I was asking some questions about ZTR’s and he would not even talk about any other brands. Of course his were the commercial models but it sounds like the company has some good experience in the ZTR market. Enjoy the new machine and we will start thinking about how to put a 3 pt hitch system on it for you. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Not to push Toro, but if you are leaning that way, from what I have heard, in the Toro models, the Kawasaki engines are highly praised. I think their top of the line 52" homeowner model is available with a 19 Hp Kawasaki.

I think that some of their commercial models also feature that same or a very similar Kawasaki engine.

Mark, I don't know whether Toro is any better than a lot of others or not, but there's lots of them around. The nearest golf course uses nothing but Toros. Of course, the one I bought is their smallest, cheapest one (14 hp Briggs & 38" cut), and even that for the size of our yards probably borders on insanity. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif It does seem to have plenty of power. Being new to ZTRs, I accidentally popped a wheelie with it once, and I mowed a small vacant lot at full speed (6 mph) and it still did a respectable job of cutting.

I did look at Toro, the Z100 model.
A great looking machine but a little more money than I want to spend now.

The Dixon Dlr is going to bring a demo Ram 50 by tonite to try on my place. I'm looking at the Ram 44 but I'll get the "idea" with the 50.
I'm still impressed with the const. of the Dixon after stopping by the Snapper Dlr and taking another look at the FastCut.
Mind you, the Snapper looks good but the Dixon just looks tougher. For the terrain I'm going over that seems to be a plus.
I'll know more after tonite, hopefully ?

The biggest difference is the snapper has much better transmissions than the dixon and the hustlers that others are mentioning. The framing maybe heavier on others but it is as good as it needs to be for home use. Those hydrastatic transmissions are OK in lightweight units, like the toro timecutter z (38" and 42"). When you use those transmissions in a unit that has some weight to it(hustler and maybe the dixon unit or timecutter zx 52" toro's) they will fail.
If you want me to send you some units that have failed on brands we sell that are bigger, I can get them out of the junk.

THE HYDRAULICS ARE MUCH BETTER AND ALL THE COMPANIES USE THIS TYPE IN THEIR COMMERCIAL UNITS. SNAPPER IS USING IT IN THEIR HOMEOWNER VERSION TOO. CONGRATS TO SNAPPER.

btw we sold our 29th(since march) unit like you want today and we have 29 happy customers. The snapper does great.

Is your snapper dealer willing to bring you a demo?
