Our daughter did not notice that Chase was gone until Sunday
morning. Something like 36 hours after Chase had passed.
She handled it much better than I expected but every once
in awhile she would start talking about Chase. She did freak
us a bit because at one point our daughter said, "Look, there
is Chase." while we where standing in the kitchen. My wife
got a bit bug eyed at that statement! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif The doggy
cancer group had taken Chase's picture and had them put on
coffee mugs. My wife was emptying the dishwasher and the
cabinet doors where open. Our kid saw the mugs with Chase!
/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif We thought she was seeing ghosts! To near Halloween I guess! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
A year or so ago my mother in law bought our daughter a
goldfish. Kinda stupid for a one year old to have a fish in a
cold house and the fish died within days. I think we got
another one but it died as well. What do you do with a dead
goldfish? You flush it. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
After our daughter found out that Chase had died she looked
up at me and with only the seriouness that can come from the
mouth of a toddler, she told me that "Mom had flushed Chase
down the toilet." /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif
Thanks again for the support.
