Another thing to think of if you're cheap - If you cruise your local 4x4 forums you can often get great deals on slightly used tires when folks are looking to upsize.

I do 16 miles a day on dirt roads so I go through tires fairly quickly. So far I've just been buying used tires off of friends who four-wheel.

I've noticed that the Hummer comes with the BFG All Terrain and also the new Chrysler SUV. If you need the extra strength compare the number of plys. BFG has three.

I believe Sigarms is looking for all terrian tires. I like the BFG tires also. I have used the knock off brands of the BFG and they don't last as long.

BFG AT's. The 3 ply sidewall makes these a real truck tire. My brother and I have run them exclusively for the past 10+ years.

I have had BFG all terrains, Mud Terrrains and Big-O Bigfoot Xt and AT.

Overall the best tire for traction, wear, and overall use was the Big-O Bigfoot XT in the old tread pattern. They have recently updated the pattern; I'm not sure about it. I used them on my old F250. I hauled an 11' camper all over the west, went to the snow, got fire wood, hauled gravel, and they worked really well.

Correct. Both highway and "off road".

Catch 22. I could do some serious off roading with home chores and playing on the weekends.

But...having a wife and three dogs and hauling "stuff" when I want to see my dad means I take the truck, not the car.

Have to put a clutch in this weekend and then looking for tires.

At this point, the BFG AT tires have me interested.

I'll throw my vote in for BFG's too...

I've had everything from Firestones-Super Swampers on my F-150 and the only ones I liked for all purposes was the BFG. I too would recomend the 33's over the smaller sizes due to the tread relief size. They work well in mud, clay, sand, grass, etc.., have a relatively smooth ride, reasonable life span, and dont make alot of noise. As for your mileage, it will likely go down. An option would be changing your gears to bring the RPM back into the correct range will restore the mileage. 4wheel parts wholesalers

have a chart that helps with gear selection and tire fitment. Click on the FAQ's and you'll be able to find what you want. I didnt see a T-100 though, but it may be helpfull for ideas and pricing anyhow.

Thats what I'm wondering to. Went to BFG web site, put in the info on the truck (t-100 4wd,1998) and no info came up on the AT tires.

Not sure.

May need to go back to the drawing board, but I'll call tomorrow.

If so, a 33 wont be a stretch...
