Good ebike

I'm looking for one I can run on my 12AH DeWalt Flexvolt batteries, I figure 4 batteries would get me some distance.

I've started looking at ebikes so my wife and I can go on "walks" with our kids and grandkids. Balance will probably become a concern in the future and it'd be nice to take a picnic lunch to the park, so I've been looking at tricycle ebikes. The bike stores don't seem to carry them and on-line seems to be the only way to get one. I don't like that much because I'd really like to try one out before spending that much money. So I'm still thinking about them and it would be very infrequent use as in one day a month since it would be only used in a city residential area. I don't intend to hijack this thread but want to expand option for people considering ebikes, so if anyone has any suggestions ...

Those things would last about 5 minutes out here on the dirt roads. I do 'shoeleather' express myself. Exercise is beneficial. Riding on something like that just promotes belly fat.

And just like your lawn mower comparison, your use, expectations and needs will vary widely from the spandex crowd showing off their latest "look at me" hip gear, to the casual rider simply enjoying their bicycle and the outdoors within their perception of a reasonable budget.
If it were not for these more economical ebike's, they wouldn't be as popular as they are now, and that's a good thing for cyclists in general no matter what your pedaling. 👍
Not disagreeing but sometime you really have to pay to play. On the street, in a flat area about any electric bike is good. Take it to the mountains and start bombing the trails you better spend some money if you want it to last more than one trip.

I got the set up from this outfit

Put it on my 15 year old steel frame GT Richter mountain bike.

Couldn't be happier! I put about 1500 miles on last summer just ratting around our local back roads. Road places I've wanted to go for the past 30 years. We have LOTS of hills. I still return home sweaty and spent, just get to father away places while getting that way. ;-)
Seeing what appear to.be conversions more and more.

Makes sense since I'm in Castro Valley, home of empowered, just about every day...

It's amazing how many share bicycles were junked when ebikes got popular in China and then how may hundreds of thousands of ebikes, new and used, were junked when share companies overbought. There are mountains of them all over China. These are not tulips, they are just one small field of tens of thousands of junked bikes and ebikes..

Completely re -Cycle-able ;-) How did they get the colors to be so pleasant? Organized scrap?

Jumped on my "e-bike" just before supperr. Made a dash down the road and UP the hill. Only about 2 miles one way, but 700 feet of elevation.. Came back winded and refreshed. Needed to talk to the forwarder operator at the logging operation going on there. Waiting on a log load of fuel wood to be delivered... made the deal in January. The sticks are stacked at the landing. Mud season closed the roads, but now they are hard. Maybe the log truck drivers are busy.

I've always been somewhat of a bicyclist, though I don't do it as much as I should *cough cough gasps for breath due to life in general*

I haven't tried an ebike yet but I'm intrigued; I'm guessing that due to the extra weight carried, you pretty much need some electric assist all the time, to varying amounts, except for downhill?

Not a factory build but,

My son just built this one for a friend that asked for a 1 off

26 inch fat tired 48 Volt 35ah Samsung battery, 1500 watt hub motor.
Also outfitted with hydraulic disc brakes.

Test rode it- ran a bit over 40 mph wide open. Very quiet cruising.

The new owner took it on a 35 mile drive immediately

Son gave me his 1st e bike which was really nice riding and stable at speed.
It is now in pieces has a 750 watt motor, stretched frame and needs some new forks and the battery, may take a while till i can get it together again ,
but stoked to have the beginnings of an e bike.
