How ironic!

Just PMed Bird today thanking him for his post with the explaination (I would have posted instead of PM, but this thread seemed to be in retirement of it's own - somehow appropriate); the story is even better how you tell it, but Bird deserved thanks anyway.

On the note of irony, it must work: a split second after I made the post asking the question, it "clicked" that Gary wasn't right, so I had to edit it! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hope that computer wizard treats you well, so you don't get cheated out of any TBN time! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hi ya Pete!

It's still there. In fact, I just sent the owner an email yesterday asking about those pictures he was supposed to send me. I'd still consider looking at it, but I'm starting to get a bad feeling about it. It's a really good price, so why is it still available? I've asked him if there was a smoker that used it, or pets. I've not yet received an answer. I also emailed those dealerships that you supplied the names for asking about coordinating an inspection of the RV. None of them have responded. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif If we decide to make an offer, I guess I'll have to call the dealerships by phone to talk directly to them.

But until the house sells, we're still on hold. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Chad,

You and me both! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

When I got home from my golf league last night, the wife informed me that she had purchased a laptop computer off of eBay! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

She got a brand new Dell Inspiron with Intel Celeron M 1.3 Ghz with 1MB L2 Cache wireless with a 15.4" widescreen and built-in single combo drive (CD+DVD+CD) burner/re-writer (CD-RW). It has a lithium-Ion battery (good up to 3 hours?) and an AC adapter, a 56k internal modem, 10/100 internal network card and is ready for dial-up or broadband/DSL/cable internet. The wireless card is 802.11g -54Mbps. And of course it comes loaded with all of the software. She got it for $885.00.

I sure HOPE this was a good deal, and that it's a quality laptop! I really don't know. But we'll have our computer wizard go through it all for us.

Garry -- Vermont is a strange place when it comes to buying things used. Many old timers, especially those off the beaten track, will simply place one ad or post a For Sale sign in the window and be content to wait forever till someone comes along and expresses interest. That's how many of our rotting hulks got their start!

As for email, there was a huge push years ago for businesses to get email accounts. Most did, but the Internet didn't bring much business, or at least as much as the ISPs promised. So most of those accounts are never checked, passwords are forgotten...but it looks cool in the yellow pages so they continue to include them. Go figure!

In Vermont, face to face is still king, with the telephone a distant second. Good luck, and be sure to connect if you come this way!

Pete

First, there was one of our members who was having a problem with people misspelling his name. Kind of like what Bird is talking about. He made the r in his name large so that people would notice it. Since I was frequently experiencing the same problem with people spelling my name with 1 r, I thought I'd do it too. I wanted to do it to show him I supported his change, but also to see how long it took for someone to notice it.

Congratulations on the "BIG R".... (retirement that is) /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Stay healthy and remember that everyday is a holiday. I've been out of work for almost 5 years now due to physical ailments (starting around age 35) and am limited in what I can do. Remember that if and when you become bored, you'll always have a room with a view! Best of luck to you, GarRy, and the Mrs. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif ENJOY!

Well Pete, I guess they finally sold that motorhome in Vermont that I had been considering.

But that's O.K. Because I found one just a little closer to me.

This is the one that I found about an hour and a half drive away from us. We bought it last night. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
