geez Roy, you are late. Shake a leg....

Boss man gets to sleep in though...
warmer day today, in the fifties already, might hit 72. Could be the last day in that temp for awhile. Hopefully some rain later, hopefully.
Going to see if I can locate my dibble or bulb auger; if not need to run to Lowes to get one. Have about two hundred daffodils and tulips to plant.
Considering the fact that my right hand and fingers were swollen up like fat little sausages on Saturday, likely from just overwork, I might wait until my helper shows up tomorrow. since there is a possibility of some rain today, makes sense anyway; why plant in bone dry hard dirt if it can be avoided. I'm planting along the woods so actually nothing gets overly dry there anyway; so self mulched from pine needles.
My sister and I planted the last four of the shrubs I bought a month ago, so these bulbs will be my last planting of the year. Well, not quite...those ten fruit trees are going in within days. Have the rows all measured out, little pins down for the trees, just wanted to talk to the ag agent locally. And come to find out yesterday he "took another job" and no one is replacing him. Great. And they gave me the number of the Pitt Co contact, one county over. I'll call him today.
I'm going to be planting about thirty or forty trees. Have six apple and four pear already. No more pears; the fruit doesn't keep well enough for me. But lots more apples, and peaches. Of course peaches don't keep well either....hmmmm. Maybe more apples. Still need to find some crabapple trees, but not in a rush; just will leave space for them in the apple portion of the orchard. It's where to put them...on the outside or the inside? Three rows wide, thought of putting them on the inside row, but then thought about the outside. Pretty wind protected area but most exposure is from the South and West. Ok all you little pollenizers, how do you fly around?
