Good morning!!!!

31 with hopes of 49 and some sun today. Then rain tonight turning to snow, possibly tomorrow night.

Roy, thanks for letting us help build your tractor:). I'd like you to put some nice bright work lights on top of the ROPS pointing backwards (didn't see any in the pic)...seems like you are up and out in the wee dark of the morning and could use the light while clearing snow.

my taxes on a half acre lot with 2700sf home in Bucks County were $7000.
my taxes on a 22 acre lot with 3500sf home in Beaufort County are $1400.
Seems a bit more reasonable to a retired guy who has never had children.
And earned enough over 40 years to have paid an awful lot of taxes into Uncle Sam
and his cousins.
Of course schools here are not exactly college prep. And therein lies the difference.
They tax car registrations and have a high sales tax. All regressive taxes.
Tax the poor.
It's not right.
but also not for this thread.
All I know is I had to move in part due to taxes. I had to leave my home town and all my friends to find a place with enough room and the right location near water. So that in the Spring I will be posting pics taken from my little boat out on the water. I don't fish, so pictures it will be. And as I am puttering around out there on the water, I will count my blessings of affordable taxes and of course I'll be wondering what my tractor is doing.

Now how does one combine boating and tractoring? ;)

Dumpster Diving?

Ocean is very peaceful this morning surface looks like glass vs yesterday at this time when it looked like a scene from Moby Dick with Gregory Peck hanging on for dear life

28F with some snow flurries but those aren't supposed to last.

Ya, next week could be snowy:
12+ Tues
1-3 Wed
8-12 Fri
1-3 Sat

Today I'll top off the fuel, grease the loader and blower, check for loose nuts, generally eyeball things over and be ready.

Good morning, 25F here dropping to 22F this afternoon and then dropping to 8F overnight. Woke up so a little snow on the ground, roads are clear though. Just hope my SNLs truck will be able to pull the old JD B out of the garage and down to a friends for storage. His truck is 4WD but I hope he can get enough traction.

since I have my final, and seventh dumpster sitting in my driveway, on top of plywood and not my new macadam, I can attest to the joy of dumpster diving. I have dove for more little bits of wood the carpenters throw away, perfect for my woodshop.
what an opportunity for a packrat's joy: I'm sure I could use that some day....
There's only a small chance of rain this week, most of the precip is going to be North of here. Good, sure like some time to get things dried out. I want to go throw some grass seed down on my mudfest out at the end of the lane and try to get some cover on it.
I don't have any hay left come to think about it as my fireman buddy grabbed it for the county burn house. Pallets and hay in the corner of those concrete rooms and you crawling around trying not to breathe too hard and suck up too much air and time out before the rest of the class. Fond memories. Standard training, I'm sure any past fireman here has done it at some point unless you were grandfathered(perhaps literally) in.

One of the stalls in my barn was half full of hay five feet up. Glad to get that all out, a fantasy land condo for little critters.

22 and a little snow falling...shouldn't be too much accumulation today. The high will be 26.
No plans today...but I'll definitely be doing some research on TBN (see responses to Drew, Thomas and wngsprd below)

Drew, good thoughts about keeping the R-4s and siping the tires! I read some of those threads, but hadn't thought about doing that....might be the answer! As far as the grab handle...when I was testing out the backhoe, I also looked at the door and cab frame to figure out how I can install one. That will be my first modification to the machine.

Thomas, I really don't want the tractor delivered before Tuesday. We're supposed to get 8+ inches (maybe 12+, depending on the forecast). My snow blower has a manual crank chute rotator. I'll have to rig up an electric or hydraulic rotator of some sort, but it won't be before Tuesday. Or, I'll have to sell the snow blower I have and go for one with a powered chute.

wngsprd, there is one work light mounted on the left rear fender. Added a picture to show it. However, more rear lights will be going on the tractor sometime in the near future. Probably not this winter though.

Got first cup of coffee poured. 53° with mostly clear skies. Heading to 77° with a chance of a cloud or 2. Perfect patio day. Got the wax job completed yesterday. Today will be a rest day. Then one football game.
Roy, enjoy the cab.
Drew, Tractor and boating used to be my pastime. Now it's RVing, tractoring and rest time. Kind of miss boating. But just like taxes. Way to expensive for my income these days.
All those in snow country. Stay warm and play safe.
Good Morning All.

My snow blower mounts on the 3PH and the dealer and I discussed the lack of a rear wiper yesterday. I'll probably have to see what's available from Curtis Cabs (if they're still in business). The dealer (Trottier's in South Royalton) is checking into it too.
I know I'm not going to get everything done I want to get done before the end of the winter.
The rear window does pivot for ventilation. If it opens enough, I can still use the manual crank until I rig something better.

There's already a fan and heater in the cab.

25 and going to 30? I hope we get a little sun. Going to do a little plumbing work today, replacing a shower unit in our home. Not really enjoying it, gotta do it.

Tuesday could be a bruiser. North winds at 10-20 with gusts to 30. They have the advisory posted already.

That will be the first real snowstorm we've had this winter. I imagine Sugar Loaf and Sunday River are gleefully counting their shekels.

Like 40 out. Some major snow coming to the area, and of course "blizzard" is the word for all further north.

Looked and don't have much coffee left, so will head to the store. Make a run on toilet paper, milk and bread as is customary for this area. LOL.

Worked on moving kids out yesterday. Yippee and sad/proud at the same time.

Found beavers on the property when inspecting next section of fence line to clear. If I find the lodge, I'll set the traps. And well, guess I need to carry the rifle out now. Unfortunate, but I just don't like beavers.

R-4's. I ventured into the woods once with turfs. Hit some mud over a log, walked home to get the other tractor to pull it out. Got rid of the turfs. Don't think I have a set around on anything anymore. Odd, but the field/wood/pasture mix on the property just seems a better fit for R-4's as does the gravel driveway. YMMV, IMHO.

now Mike, what couldn't you like about a nice cuddly little beaver?
Perhaps you could make a hat out of him...

Snow on the Beltway. Time to be elsewhere.

ok, I don't know why these are all coming in to me, perhaps one of my best friends has a new source.
but since many of us are in a certain mature range, you know, over 21....
I thought this might bring a smile

Subj: SENIORS VS COMPUTERS

As we Silver Surfers know, sometimes we have trouble with our computers.

Yesterday, I had a problem, so I called George , the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.

George clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?

He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that? .... In case I need to fix it again.'

George grinned ... 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?

'No,' I replied.

'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.'

So I wrote down:

IDI0T

I used to like George.

If you're not a Senior yet, then send this to someone who is.

put my logging helmet on to brave the incoming rocks.:D
