Happy belated Bday BEF!

Balmy 72 this morning but no fog today. Up early this morning to try and get my new burn barrels prepped for fire. I have a huge pile of paper and boxes to catch up on.

Celebrated my 75th birthday yesterday. 🥳 Splurged on a new milling cutter--An 8" facing mill. It should be in next week. I just hope the ole Bridgeport can spin it. I plan to use it on some small engine heads and perhaps a 3-cyl Kubota head, if necessary.

Everyone have a splendid day. It's the week end so don't take safety for granted.
Happy BD Tinhack. Lot of guys use a single point flycutter to mill wide surfaces on a BP. Just takes a bit longer.
I would assess the warpage, and maybe clean up the opposite side a bit first then cut the head's face. Be careful clamping so you don't warp it more.

One time a friend brought me his brother's outboard motor head. It was warped badly. I had to take off maybe .050" to get it flat. Told him to tell his brother "It was either that or buy a new head" Try it out. 2 stroke.

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs M7040!🎊
Yes, Happy Anniversary!

Congratulations. 56 years here and thank God every day for my wonderful wife ❤️
You too Thall!

I'm way behind. Work has been a bear, but a good bear. Still more stuff breaking which is job security. We passed a major external audit which accredits our program. (I knew we would since we set the standards of engineering! ) :)

Had relatives with a 3 year old here last night. That is a workout.
Son is pining over a girl. Told him to get used to it and be patient. God will bring him one someday. His tough classes are catching up to him swamping him with homework. Reading for Honors English proving to be time consuming. I was horrible at homework. (don't tell him that though).

We got about 1.5" last Friday night/Saturday. Better than nothing. Got soaked into the cracks.

Wish I had a huge barn. Friend has 50 x 150, plus a 30' lean to down the back side. I think it is at least 20' tall at the sides, maybe more. It was built to be a hangar originally. It is full.

Could use Popgadget's HVAC furnace knowledge at work. We have a propane heat powered, steam/generator demonstrator that won't light. I believe I've traced it to the igniter. Low ohms at 70 vs 175. Was originally thinking it might be the thermopile (proof of heat sensor). Anyway, I'm going to school on it...

Prayers for our team, our Nation, and for peace around the world.

Well I'm working on my sand/salt pile this week. Having to shift it around a bit, moving all the material to one side so I can redo one of the mafia block walls. Looks like I'm going to end up having to get about 5 more of those blocks and then I'm going to be ordering a ShelterLogic cover for it (ouch). Going to enlarge it a bit, the interior is 12 feet of working room and I'm going to lengthen it to 30 feet from the current 18 so even with a good stock pile I'll be able to at least keep the sander in there or one of the tractors.

Then I mentioned getting fuel oil today, that was even worse then anticipated ended up with 1174 gallons, $3642.19 for that bill. But the house is full and one of my tractor tanks was almost empty, but not now.
Hoping you'll get your propane stove soon.

What size propane tank will you have? We have a 1,000 gallon buried tank purchased by the previous owners. When we first shopped for propane, none of the suppliers could believe we owned the tank until we called one company and they confirmed they were the ones who sold it to the previous owners and we indeed did own it. We get it topped off every 2-3 years in August when prices seem to be at their lowest.

We are fairly diversified with our heating capabilities, wood stove (I'd call that our primary) multiple propane stoves, last year we installed 2 heat pumps (we use them until it gets below 15 degrees, then its the wood stove) and finally base board electric (our last resort but we do have it).

Ponytug, scavengers need to eat too. Just put a hole in your hogs and leave them where they lay.

RE; electric bill, mine so far this year is $1100.oo. Electric lights (all LEDs), water pump, two PCs on all the time, 5 fans on most of the time, a sump pump and the oil furnace. The wood furnace doesn't get lit until the temps get closer to zero. The 60" TV is never on.
Pumped another 100 gallons into the house oil tank after we got back from the vampires. My lottery ticket only cost me $76.oo out of the normal $104.oo. (I get the ticket for 6 months at a time.52 draws. This ticket is good until 26 April 2026.) The difference was 10 free tickets for tonights draw.

LouNY, $3.10/gallon aint all that bad. Try $5.22/U.S. Gallon the last time I filled the big tank. My next fill up will probably be in late February.
I had to call around to get that price, the $3.10 was best of half a dozen many were at $3.40 and $3.60 with one being $3.999. I don't think they liked my response to that figure. Especially when highway #2 is $3.37 with all the highway taxes and sales tax.
And I was telling them I was looking for 800-900 gallons at least.

We got the stove a while back, the propane outfits pissed me off to no end. As it was going to be a new install they wanted to be the ones to supply the tank, propane, materials for piping and the labor, and then tell me how it would be done.
So I had a plumber come in and run the lines the way I wanted, a 1" black iron main line into the house, terminating in a 5 valve manifold with the unused valves having pipe plugs in them for peace of mind, hooked up a 100 pound cylinder to my regulators and then we pressure tested the line, using snoop and a gauge.
Hooked up the stove and lite it off good to go.
Then I purchased a 1000 gallon tank, the outfit that sold it ran the gas pipe (flexible) from the new tank after I dug the trench to the location were the 100 pounder was. Because it was an existing service no issues.
Now after removing my coal insert we are getting a propane one for spot heating.

Took 5 more gallons of used oil to the recycle center. they have 5 gal limit, so at least 2 more 40 mile trips. Hard to believe over 20 miles each way, seems to be just down the road..
But got chinese for lunch.

finally removed the antenna rotor cable, so I could get it out of the way of the last deck board that never got put on against the garage. went out on roof, decided I didn't like trying to work from the edge of the roof, so plan B worked.
Plan B was to loosen the bracket holding the antenna pole, removing the bottom piece, and lowering the antenna down, so I could easily get to the rotor from 3 steps up a ladder. moved he cable out of the way, reinstalled and rotor still not working. So either cable is bad or rotor itself is bad. I should have brought the rotor box out and hooked up a new short cable to test, but didn't. figured as little as I watch tv, ill just turn the pole if i need to adjust the antenna. got it all put back up, and apparently aimed in a proper southernly direction for the tv stations to come in. I only do OTA local, plus streaming now, and I rarely watch anything. My son likes to record and watch wheel of fortune.

still need to rip the last board and install it, but now the cable is finally out of the way. Also need to finish the steps, but want to see if i can find trex fascia first. Maybe I can special order it at HD.

finally put step ladder back in barn, it's been out since spring for the deck work.

Got extension ladder out, and climbed up to clean out the lower back gutter, was clogged at the downspout. Downspout at deck also was clogged, even with a gutter guard now on it. small hole at end of the guard still allowing leaves in. then decided to check the front and side gutters also. All clean now except not going up on the high roof to check the back gutters 3 stories up.

been updating my personnal history file.. maybe someone in my family will care after i'm gone. If not, it helps me to remember fond memories of my past, like when I bought and sold vehicles, when I traveled, etc...
Since retiring, I have been keeping a daily log of what I do, you know in case DOGE asks me what I did last week. I can tell them pretty much what I did the last 40 yrs. When I worked I kept a log the last several years.
Went back to when I built the house, and filled out what i did almost every day, based on my log book i kept. now it's in a spreadsheet, searchable, with a column marking the important stuff..

Oldest son is going to look for a new car, but he did finally figure out how to change the brake light that was out. Had to do some disassembly to get to it.

rain is here now, sounds like hard rain at times, but only .3"on the gauge so far. glad gutters are now clean.
