Happy belated Bday BEF!
I would assess the warpage, and maybe clean up the opposite side a bit first then cut the head's face. Be careful clamping so you don't warp it more.
One time a friend brought me his brother's outboard motor head. It was warped badly. I had to take off maybe .050" to get it flat. Told him to tell his brother "It was either that or buy a new head" Try it out. 2 stroke.
I'm way behind. Work has been a bear, but a good bear. Still more stuff breaking which is job security. We passed a major external audit which accredits our program. (I knew we would since we set the standards of engineering! )
Had relatives with a 3 year old here last night. That is a workout.
Son is pining over a girl. Told him to get used to it and be patient. God will bring him one someday. His tough classes are catching up to him swamping him with homework. Reading for Honors English proving to be time consuming. I was horrible at homework. (don't tell him that though).
We got about 1.5" last Friday night/Saturday. Better than nothing. Got soaked into the cracks.
Wish I had a huge barn. Friend has 50 x 150, plus a 30' lean to down the back side. I think it is at least 20' tall at the sides, maybe more. It was built to be a hangar originally. It is full.
Could use Popgadget's HVAC furnace knowledge at work. We have a propane heat powered, steam/generator demonstrator that won't light. I believe I've traced it to the igniter. Low ohms at 70 vs 175. Was originally thinking it might be the thermopile (proof of heat sensor). Anyway, I'm going to school on it...
Prayers for our team, our Nation, and for peace around the world.
Happy BD Tinhack. Lot of guys use a single point flycutter to mill wide surfaces on a BP. Just takes a bit longer.Balmy 72 this morning but no fog today. Up early this morning to try and get my new burn barrels prepped for fire. I have a huge pile of paper and boxes to catch up on.
Celebrated my 75th birthday yesterday.Splurged on a new milling cutter--An 8" facing mill. It should be in next week. I just hope the ole Bridgeport can spin it.
I plan to use it on some small engine heads and perhaps a 3-cyl Kubota head, if necessary.
Everyone have a splendid day. It's the week end so don't take safety for granted.
