How much time do you reckon you've spent splitting and hauling wood to the house?

More time than I care to count ...

But to your (possible) point - my order of priorities:

1. Ensure there is some way to heat the house. Getting the splitter done would facilitate that ... it would actually allow me to get ahead of the game - given I'm spending more time splitting - by far - than I am cutting, hauling, etc.

2. Explore solutions to fix the gas furnace.

Since no. 2 above is a bit of a crapshoot- and since it's somewhat chilly out at the moment - I'm pretty certain my order of priorities is correct for my present situation.

To do no. 2 - to the neglect of no. 1 - would not go over well with the local crowd (of 1) here.

-5 and overcast with snow later today with a high of 12.I am going to do a town run this Morning.

Low of -10 currently 4. I hope my rigging in the chicken coops was enough. Got to fix water leaks yesterday. Antie rooms froze on me with heaters in them. Took a big part of the day to replace things. Still have to get the adapters to put the water meter back in one of them. I fenced off the door and left it open. In theory it should have stayed the same temp as the coops. The joys of raising chickens as my wife says.
Forecast was for us to get snow changing to rain tonight and tomorrow. But the NWS has now issued a winter storm warning. Says significant accumulation of snow sleet and ice. Now that's nice. Oh high of 27 today. Everyone stay warm.

Another crappy day here, -7F and we just had some wet snow, roads are slick and I was going to get my new to me skid steer today. Think I will wait till its better out, don't want to drive 500 miles on ice the whole way pulling a 32' trailer.... Darn winter, I am getting sick of it!

Cold here, -15 last night, about -4 now. Checked my wife's shop, the rental property, and my sister's restaurant in construction. All good, but turned up the heat everywhere! I think the gas company will probably sell a record amount of gas this month.

Both wood-burning appliances here at the house are cookin' along ... and the sun is out (woo-hoo !) ... temp upstairs is 63F ...

And the double-barrel stove up in the shop is lit as well ...

Looking forward to tomorrow's high of 38F ...
