Sounds like a passionate argument for a vegetarian diet. Did you come away with pointers to any specifics? Foods to avoid, recommended daily intakes, etc.?
And where does cactus beer fit into such a diet?
First lets talk wine. They had a DR who actually did research for the healthiest wine and the results of the research: Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon wines.
The healthiest were these de-alcholinized. (but what fun is that) On a discussion on how much - It was said that a glass or so a week was ok but 3 a night no way.
Beer- no mention at this conference but others conference had mentions one very now and then is ok 4 a night not so. (I still have 4 cactus beers left from the six-pac I bought 8 days ago.)
It is not a "Vegetarian" or even a "Vegan" Diet, both of which contain many unhealthy foods such as processed foods and sugar and etc. . . . . You could call yourself a Vegan and live off doughnuts and french fries.
This is a LOW FAT, WHOLE FOODS, PLANT-BASED DIET.
One of the Cardiologist gives his patients this brochure which describes it very well.

Some of the Doctors are even more strict on the food - especially if the patient is serious and wants to forgo an operation (bypass or stent). - They discussed many of their patients who were serious and improved and no longer needed the operation. You could tell the Doctors were not unhappily about the lack of money but shared the true
enthusiasm of the patients cured disease without surgery.
All of the Doctors thought is was a disgrace that the educational universities do not include nutrition in their medical curriculum. There was actually some medical students there that were going to start a petition that nutrition should be added - they felt there was a big gap in their education - and they were paying a lot for it. It gave me hope for the next generation.
