Don, look on Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
They have list of pipelines they back, which means eminent domain regarding obtaining the route. if no ferc backing, no eminate domain and you can get better price. you want paid by pipe size and length. Limit on number of pipes, damages, temp access, no compressors, no pig launchers, etc.. they will lowball at first and their deal is 100% in their favor.

Off to lunch in a few, then to the docs later. I didn't fast this am, so no sense missing lunch. Have a good one!

66F and cloudy @ 12:30 with a predicted high of 73F for the day.

Not too bad for late August ... just wish we could get a little rain to go with the cooler temps.

Spent some time up in the shop last night until around 03:30. Dipped out most of the crud in the bottom of the 30 gallon Safety-Kleen drum (carb degreaser) in the drum, until I ran out of 2 1/2 gallon containers (used 3) ... probably about another gallon or so to go.

Also ladled out most of the S-K parts washer solvent out of the 20 gallon drum ... that took my parts washer up to almost full. Looks like there is 3 or 4 inches of mud/tar in the bottom of that one. Be good to get it cleaned out today, as it's Thursday - the day the recycling center is open from 14:00 to 20:00.

Did some research last night after I finished up there and found out a couple of things:

1. Due to market conditions, Safety-Kleen is no longer paying for used motor oil. When I called a couple of years ago, they were paying ... and paying pretty well. I think I had around 250 gallons at the time ... and it was worth around $200, IIRC. They were supposed to come out and pick it up ... but the driver never called back or showed up. Bummer.

2. Due to the economics of disposing of hazardous waste, a number of companies are producing small (3 to 6 gallon) distillers to recycle/reclaim solvents. Could be a handy/economical thing to have (considering the cost of solvent) - as well as being environmentally responsible. Unfortunately, they look to be rather pricey ($5K)

Also did a little cleaning ... since it was cool out, I got most of the combustible trash (paper, scrap wood, etc.) burnt in the stove.

Yesterday afternoon I worked on getting the leftover spoil around the trench for the downspout line cleaned up ... just need to fill in the top of the trench with some compost and seed it. Along with repairing the foundation of course.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable and productive day.

No surprises at the docs. Gotta go back in a month, do the fasting thing, get my blood work done. I guess not fasting today cost me another trip + the copay!!! Won't do that again....

Doing a small plumbing job in the am, then off to HD for some stuff!

Have a good one!

finally got some pics posted. Worked hard today on doing firewood, need to clean that area out so I can get the pad poured there behind the barn.
Lot of red oak split, some of the rounds were silly big and I had to use the front end loader. More trouble than they are worth but I hate to throw out red oak.

ok, so what birds were parading around in my back yard? Looking pretty edible...

Those are guineas. They will keep the bugs at bay, and are also known to kill a snake or two.

My understanding is they taste like partridge or pheasant. Mostly dark meat. They are considered a delicacy in some countries.
