74°F and raining this morning, going up to 84° with rain most of the day. We can definitely use it.

Thunder woke me around 01:30 this morning, and the boy walking around the house talking on speakerphone with his girlfriend didn't make it any easier to fall back asleep. He got a job yesterday at a metal fabrication shop in town. Starts Sunday night. Third shift, so he can now justify staying up all night.

The carpenter will be coming back today to do what he can until the electrician gets caught up, hopefully this weekend. If nothing else, it looks like he can close up the inside of the porch with insulation and drywall. The electrician assured us last weekend that after next week, he can start coming in more than just on Saturdays or Sundays. I certainly hope so, as it's now holding up progress on everything else. Getting anxious to get into my new studio.

Good Morning!!!! 74F @ 5:45AM. Sunny. High near 100F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Looks like temps will break 100F every day for at least the next ten. Sure wish Al Gore would'a kept his big mouth shut about Global Warming!

Don, I take it that helicopter was equipped with a bucket to drop water on the fire? Hope no homes or outbuildings were lost.

The only time bees bother the feeders here, Wng, is when the hummers spatter nectar on the outside. Otherwise the holes are too small for them to get inside, and the nectar too far down inside the feeder for them to reach. These are the ones:

Glad to hear you're having fun with the tractor quandary, Lenny. Hope it doesn't keep you stumped for too much longer!

Got the insulation and vent pipe brackets glued back on the van fuel tank yesterday morning. The primer really worked well and the glue stuck, well, like glue. Just like the sealer I used from the same company, though, this stuff "went off" very quickly and I went through three of the application nozzles before I ran out of glue. At that point I switched over to contact cement to finish the insulation install, and it worked well, too. Started the whole show off by cleaning everything with a wire brush in a die grinder, then a good dose of soap and water. It was filthy, so it's no wonder the mechanic's glue didn't work. While it was drying, I had breakfast then finished up spraying glyphosate, hopefully for the rest of the year. I was very happy to see that the blue pond dye rinsed completely out of the tank and hoses, leaving only a little blue color on the nozzles. And I've still got plenty of that quart bottle of dye left to get a start on next year, so it's a solution that won't break the bank (no pun intended).

Got a text yesterday that the first batch of parts I ordered for the old motorcycle are in, so I'll pick them up when I go into town today. Then over to the mechanics to finish wiring the mirrors and figure out why the wipers aren't working. And of course leave him with a little pep talk.

Hang in there gang, Friday's comin'!

67.8F and mostly cloudy @ 08:45, a 30% chance of a shower today around 14:00.

Got all the grass on the front lawns picked up yesterday. Depending on how much rain we get today/tomorrow we could be good for another 7 to 10 days before I need to mow again ...

Also got hummingbird feeder refilled. Need to refill the tube feeders today. Have another cart load of forsythia clippings I need to take up to the burn pile and dump.

I think I'm going to roll the dice and try and get some more spraying done today, as the chance for rain is fairly low as well as the wind speed.

Have chiro appoint later today, will pick up more mothballs while I'm out.

RS, you sound like me, full job security....you aren't getting finished anytime soon.
Yeah ... it pretty much never ends.

That's a pretty sleazy deal on their billing practices ... smh ...

Good morning! Another hot day but looking in the forecast I see a 60% chance of rain Aug 3. Been doing a lot of running around for my parents. Looks like their ranching business will be slowly shutting down. They had a good go with it, 25 years part time, and 27 years full time after he retired. Without my brother, and now dad unable, its too much for me to handle, and there is no help available from the rest of the family. A good lessee is lined up ready to take over.
Sounds like a pretty good outcome ... and it sounds like you were able to find a good lessee and put it all together in fairly short order ...

The low this morning was 48*, not sure of the high yesterday. We did get a nice rain mid morning yesterday. It looks like we got another one overnight. Forecast for today is partly cloudy with 20% chance of showers.

Got wet working on the fence yesterday. Need to take the brush cutter up to cut some sagebrush along the fence line. Get that done tomorrow.
Making the weekly trip to town today. Not sure about the rest of the day.
The power company put sings up yesterday that they are cutting the power out here from 8:00 am - 3:00pm today . They do that a few times a year to work on stuff.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

David good luck with your wood projects, sure you don't want to wait for cooler weather?

Bruce,

I wish I could control the weather. Heck I wish I could control anything!!! God has a sense of humor, he laughs every time I tell him my plans...

Be well,
David

MFW, with trees so close to buildings, bet you are real pleased you got to decide which way they should fall, instead of tempting fate with every storm

Eric,

That is the logic I used when the loggers were here clear cutting and they said "No Thank You". But someday they were gonna fall...

Seriously this guy was a wizard with a chainsaw. I watched closely and learned a TON I'm slowly putting into my use.

He aimed every tree precisely. Not even close to the buildings.

Be well,
David
