Oh, one thing about cats I learned (I am not a cat fan). I never knew there were so many different types of mice. LOL :)

58F and partly cloudy @ 08:30, high today of 78F. Couple of crows out by the bird feeders which is a little unusual.

Got the grassy area just north of the polebarn mostly cut yesterday for the first time this year. Have some work to do to as far as picking up the grass ... and lots and lots of branches.

Had a short shower come through late yesterday afternoon, got about 0.2" which should be enough to keep the grass growing at least for a short while ... no significant chances of rain until this coming Thursday. With temps in the mid 80's, it hopefully will start to put the grass in summer dormancy.

Of course, the rain started just about the time I brought the hedge clippers and various tools out to do some more pruning on that large japanese yew ...

I did at least manage to get the clippings gathered up and loaded in the cart.

Was much cooler and very breezy yesterday afternoon/evening after the rain all the way through until I went to bed. Good sleeping weather. Supposed to be pretty windy today as well ... so probably no spraying.

Ran into town and picked up a 5/8 - 11 threading die and a small can of Tap Magic to thread the new tie-rods for the dump cart hydraulic cylinder. Got the rod cut for that project and got the timing tube cut for the SSQA.

Still need to figure out a plan for today.

RS, put that old t-shirt on and I promise you won't get weeds....
LOL ... Drew I'm afraid it was a "single-use only" kind of deal.

back downtown to pick up fixed tire, hopefully, ....
That reminds me ...

and get a shrub trimming attachment for one of my Echo trimmers.
Pics ... :D

Just finished shoveling mulch for three hours, that was plenty of exercise.
I'd imagine ...

Good Morning!!!! 72F @ 6:00AM. Abundant sunshine. High 99F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph.

Another scorcher down at the mechanic's place yesterday, but did manage to get the power mirrors working and, after locating the turn signal stalks, verify that the windshield and rear window wipers and the squirter pumps both worked. Also helped the helper start assembling the fuel tank float and fittings, figure out how it gets mounted, and trim some fuel lines off the intake manifold. We also made some space on the storage shelves to organize what's left to install so it can be found, and ended up with more than eight feet of four foot wide pallet rack of stuff. Still no engine, just another round of assurances that it's ready for pickup, which was apparently being delayed so another project could be finished and retrieved at the same time. Guess which one will get worked on first? The hippie helper made it back from Colorado, replete with stories of being rousted for camping in his van on the street when he couldn't find an open spot, and pretty much burning out a clutch on the way back. Hopefully he'll settle down next week and finish the A/C install on the van.

Today I'll pull some pieces together from the old bike that need bead blasting in preparation for painting, and get them ready to go for next week. I have a nice silver left over from the van I'll use, but need to drop by the paint store for a satin black single stage on Monday. Those'll take up the cooler morning hours, maybe along with rotating the tires on the truck, then back inside to work on replacing some wire on the old bike.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend...

Good evening! 7:30 pm walk to the front gate was a challenge. 100˚ no wind. Who opened the oven door and who just ironed my clothes with heat still coming off them?
LOL ... Texas ... ;)

Yesterday when Gray 2 got his vaccinations and weighed the Vet noticed he had lost a pound from last year, I made the comment he probably did not cat his mouse lat night and the vet responded that gray2 is 10 years old and that his mouser days were probably over. I thought back and the last time he left us a gift mouse on the front porch was during the winter.

Question for the Morning Group. Does anyone know of or have a cat over the age of 10 that still catches mice?
Can't really say ...

The two older ones (both 10+ years) we currently have (Missy and Mister) are pretty sedentary and lazy ... of course, they are inside cats ... so pretty limited opportunities for mousing. The Squeak is another story though.

Last time we weighed him at the vets, Mister was over 16 lbs ... and I think he's put on a couple more since then. The Woman has a had a habit of feeding them whenever they beg ... just to keep them from pestering her. Trying to get her to stop doing that is harder than getting the cats to stop using various things as scratching posts.

My first cat - which was not an inside cat for the majority of her life - actually lived to be 21 years old. She wore a collar with a bell on it ... because she was real hard on the local songbirds ...

The low this morning was 44*, the high yesterday was 83*. Today is going to be about the same. With 20% chance of showers.

The sky was mostly overcast yesterday it made it nice to work on the fence. No one is going to be there this weekend so I can't work on it tell Monday.

Not sure what I'll do today.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

A dull day here with a fair breeze, ideal weather to spend some more quality time with the Stihl. I should say thanks to all of you who recommended I look at Stihl brush cutters a couple of years back. It has proved to be a real workhorse, far better than the Honda and others I have used before.
Yup ... my FS 66 is still going strong after 30 (?) years ...

Always use the Stihl oil ... ;)

RS when you put another bed on your dump cart, you could consider skinning it over with some thin galvanized metal sheet. A bit easier to clean off than wood and won't matter so much if you leave something damp on top.
Yeah ... probably worth checking into ... my steel supplier has galvanized sheet available ... cost might not be that much more than the plywood was planning on putting on.

how about canning with an induction stovetop?

After daylight and I got out, there was way more flooding than I thought, but not a catastrophe. Mostly in the usual places. It made a mess around the burnt building though.
