Sat on the deck enjoy family of 6 gray foxes as they feed ran about last evening.
That was fast 3 day weekend but only 4 days at the grind this week so it ain't so bad.
Guess I am just puttering after work this evening until it cools down. :confused3:
E muffin feed little ones slow roll to work.

Forgot to turn coffee maker on. :ashamed: 68° with fog this morning. Heading to 89° with afternoon thunderstorms. Cut lawn again yesterday. It is growing like springtime. Sweat was running off me like it was raining. Going to spend most of day inside today. I have not posted rain amounts lately. over the last 7 days we have gotten over 1.5". Mostly from afternoon thunderstorms that knock branches from trees and cause flooding in area's. We have not had any damage other than branches. Chipper pile is getting larger by the day.

Ed, nice Lathe project.

David, like the video. Looks like you have a lots more to do.

So I finally pulled the hydraulic oil filter screen on the JD 5420. I used the vacuum technique and it worked great. I might have lost a bit less than a quart (what was inside the screen filter). I put a huge clean bucket underneath just in case. The screen was relatively clean. The vacuum actually sucked up maybe an ounce or two of oil, so use a wet dry vac if you do this.

good morning all. Now that all my mowing is done, I need to go buy a new trimming mower. My el cheapo 179 special from Ace Hardware
is running horribly despite consuming great quantities of Sea Foam. yup, that 500e Briggs lasted a little over three years.
I'm finding I'm using a trimming mower more because my arms won't take holding the weedeater for long. So think I'll go back to my old standby, a Honda self propelled. Whichever model is lightest, for ditch work. While I found before in suburbia that their self propelled system can need some routine adjustment, the rest of the mower always seemed worth the money. Researched cordless electric, but I run at least an hour at a time and that means at least three sets of batteries since all the use is heavy use.

meanwhile I'll order a 20 dollar replacement carb for the Poulan mower and if and when I get a chance, will put that on.
Disposable carburetors... the mower wheels on that unit were getting a little wobbly anyway.
This is where I'd like a neighbor like one of you handy guys, hey Buckeye or Kyle, got a minute?....
Actually my fireman neighbor is pretty smart, he helps me with implement connections as well as things too heavy or
dangerous for me to do alone. I'm grateful for his help.
Since he is an engineer at firehouse, he is in charge of equipment all day long. And an EMT to boot.
Good guy to have for a neighbor. Which is our private joke when we consider the bottom of the barrel farmer next door.
Whose fields, at least on "my" side, I can't stand looking at. I've been taking care of them, in some fashion, for three years now, either discing or mowing.

The fireman neighbor's own fields are rented out to a local farmer who is fastidious, trims the field edges, which I help somewhat with
by keeping everything on the street mowed every two weeks. The fireman's lawn looks like a golf course, so with me being his own personal farm equipment rental station, aka free borrowing of tractors, we are a good match for each other. A win win.

Headed to Lowes to get driveway sealer and then back to weedeat garden prior to laying down new plastic.
nothing I bought at Lowes held up, stuff from Amazon is pro grade and about three times thicker. I'm sick of weeding in there.

Good morning. Either I'll have to start getting up later, or accept that soon the light will have to be turned on in the kitchen as it's getting difficult to tell by color how strong the tea is when poured from the teapot these darker mornings.

Spent a little time yesterday making a long crude wrench to wrap around the pillar drill chuck in another attempt to get it to release the stuck drill bit. Half expected to hear something snap, either in the chuck or my wrist. Instead it released without any fuss. :dance1: Strange, the pleasure that comes from finally correcting something shouldn't have been done in the first place.


Rick, good luck with the bolt search and take care - it's that time of year when squirrels start to hide the nuts too.

For those that use tricklers, or just appreciate a good bit of engineering, have you seen the "Targetmaster", that works in conjunction with a standard beam balance ? Found my M18-2.5 x 70mm bolts at TSC. They were $4.99 ea. For comparison 3/4”-10 x 3” hex bolts were $4.19 / lb. 2 bolts were just shy of one lb. so over twice the price for metric.

71 early, 92 this afternoon. Big old storm again yesterday, no shortage of rain lately.
My right eye is almost swollen closed, going to call the doctor in a few. Blisters are way better but I feel so bad every morning, plus the swelling, that I feel like I have to call the doctor back.

Good morning! 75˚ heading to only 90˚ cloudy chance of thunderstorms. Yesterday all the rain missed us. Ron I'm keeping my eyes on the community bulletin board when a modified cart comes up for sale. I don't have a pressing need for one right now but if I can get into the trail maintenance club I can haul my gear around on the trails. As far as I can tell they don't have a group that works on the trails. We have a newbee meeting Friday so I might be able to find out who to talk to.

yes, get thee to an eye doctor. And remember, if the rash has hit your skin vs staying underneath, it means you are contagious
to others. I'm actually surprised some doc hasn't kept you at home...
You need to disinfect around you and almost treat yourself like a leper if you have active lesions.
Sorry my friend....that sounds painful and miserable. I'd get a ride to the doctor too.
Big prayers for some medicine to reduce it all quickly.

I was thinking of some big washers for those wheels to at least take some lateral wobble out.
It's all cheap plastic.

Two friends of mine have had shingles recently, now Toppop. Reminds me to call about Shingrix.
Primary didn't have it, was under consideration. Lovely. Now trying drug stores.
