Good morning!!!!

Thermometer says it was frosty last night. Hopefully the weeds will soon get the idea that their chance to take over the the grass is over until next year.

Good to have you back L4N.

Very nice looking island top Ron. Don't go spilling that 1st, 2nd or even 3rd cup of coffee over that while catching up on TBN. :D

Birds leaving tomorrow and Monday. So maybe you guys will have some fresh chicken to eat.

Alas, I'm a little too far away to taste your chicken while fresh farmer. Thought of you as I was flicking between tv stations last night while waiting for the fire in the room to draw and came across a program about chickens. The farmers were caring, regardless of the number being produced. They showed a state-of-the-art processing plant too. I hadn't appreciated the difficulty in cooling down the carcasses, with it taking up to 3 hours to cool in chilled air (chlorinated water immersion is not permitted in the UK). With so many birds to cool, it's not a simple case of putting them on a hook and waiting, they have to be constantly moved for the heat to dissipate. With tens of thousands of chickens per hour going through, it results in miles of bodies all simultaneously swinging through the air at high speed, quite mesmerising :confused2: The cooling building was so long, it reminded me of steel rolling mills or an old rope factory.

There are 10 pheasants in the bottom of the field by the house, no doubt all escapees from a commercial shoot. Mr fox is more of a threat to them than my little 28 gauge as I like to see them strut around and anyway - my wife prefers chicken :)

Good morning! Raining again and the temps in the 40s. YUK! The forecast is for rain for the next 5 days.

I was going to cut the grass today, but that is on the back burner for now. I don't work well in the rain, so erecting the new portable shelter is out of the game plan, too.
I will go to the dump about 1 P.M. or so.

Both chimnies have been inspected and the oil furnace cleaned and a new nozzle installed. So heat wise I am ready for winter. Septic got pumped out last month. The only things left to do is cut the grass, erect the shelter and take the backhoe off the tractor and put the back blade on. Oh, and I have new snow tires coming next Thursday. They will set me back $1100.oo for 4. 225x55/R19s aren't cheap!

Have a safe day all

Bill, welcome back, glad you had safe travels.
Big weather front coming across the States, stalling apparently due to a Bermuda high, you might be getting the
Northern part of that. Middle of US starting from North Texas supposed to get up to 10 inches of rain.

Drew where did you get that weather forecast

Coffee is done brewing. 55° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 59° with chance of rain all day. Today is mostly a rest day. Still have some winter prepping to do. But it can wait until tomorrow. Some NASCAR in afternoon.

Thanks for the comments on Kitchen Island. Wife is all smiles. Place to put her iPad and whiteboard without getting them dirty while cooking. I guess I do have something to do today. Put all the tools away and clean up shop and 2 barns where various parts of project were done. Then a quick trip to Menards to return what did not get used.

Looking, glad to see you back.

Drew, it's been a week since your request for a wife. Any offers. Inquiring mind wants to know. Hope someone makes a offer you cannot refuse. :dance1:

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

Rng. Your a man of many talents. No way I壇 wipe and reinstall a computer. When they get to that point I go buy a new one. But I buy cheaper computers mostly.

Farmer, if Apple still offered a 17" laptop, I'd buy one with as much memory and SSD as they could stuff in it. But in their infinite wisdom, they've decided 15" is big enough for their customers, and better yet, just use that money to buy a thousand dollar phone instead. So I keep trying to patch together this seven year old laptop; just ordered a new SSD for it yesterday. Hope that does the trick, because the only thing left is a mother board, and that would be a used part with potentially the same issue (bad hard disc controller).:hissyfit:

Good Morning!!!! 61F @ 5:00AM. Sunny. High 77F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph.

Beautiful island, Ron. It's wonderful how well that plan came together!

I think a bit of icecream is a well deserved reward for the spouse's supervision during the drone rescue, David.

Imagine my surprise when I checked the status of the van bumper delivery on the trucking company's web page and saw that it had been delivered. With more than a little suspision, I rode the side-by-side up the hill to find no sign of either the pallet or the bumpers that were to have been on it. Tried calling the shipping company, but of course they are closed for the weekend. :muttering:

Decided to start over on the motorcycle part, and bead blast off the paint runs yesterday. The round glass ball media wouldn't touch it, and ended up using "Black Magic", a ground glass media made from blast furnace residue. Then back to the beads to smooth the rough surface. The big winds we were supposed to have yesterday and today seem to be confining themselves to down in the valley, so Kentucky Windage wasn't needed to get the paint to go on the right places.

Between coats, I found a loose ground wire that was keeping the low beams from working on the van. In doing that, though, I managed to forget two things: To hook the air duct back up, and to retrieve my flashlight from under the dash. Had to pull the instruent cluster back off to fix that.:confused2: And it took missing the flashlight when I was working on the old motorcycle to miss it. How's that for a brain fart?

The driving lamps for the old old motorcycle came with both an on/off switch and a dimmer switch, and I had to find places for both of them on the handlebars. The dimmer switch was easy with a bit of double faced foam tape, and long ago I had purchased an on/off toggle switch that was molded into a ring clamp designed specifically for a handlebar. Fortunately I was able to find it, and it was a perfect fit for this application. Soldering on those tiny wires called for a bit more brain surgery, but I got 'er done. Today I'll see if I can hook all the wires up to the right places. The lamps can be set to flash when either the high beams are flashed or the horn is blown, good for waking up sleepy drivers. Oh, and I still need to find a place to hang the horn...

Hope everyone enjoys a restful Sunday...

69 and foggy, going to 86.

Looks like a hurricane Michael might visit Larro on Wednesday and rain up the Appalachians and Piedmont this way.

L4N, crazy reading about that much snow up there already.

Eric, cool having pheasants to watch.

Well, my nature watching up in a tree for a few hours yesterday paid off...no deer, but there is a gum tree next to my oak that has 5 big holes...I named it the pileated tree, and therefore that treestand is named the pileated stand...because last year on opening day at dawn, a pileated came out of one of the holes for his morning climbing and head hammering exercises. Did it again this year, and hung around for about 15 minutes. Later had a red breasted nuthatch (one of my favorite birds), pine warbler, and a cuckoo come in close and entertain while hunting and feeding. Great fun for a birdwatcher. It rained acorns the entire morning.
