35 going to 63. Chilly.

Yes, Mostly, a dam is further down, and a railroad bridge is near the footbridge.

BEF, carpenter bees are terrible here. But good news...there was a loud buzz from my blooming crimson clover field...a closer look revealed honey bees everywhere. I haven't seen so many in years.

Wore myself out yesterday, sharpened the schain saw and then cut down a 37 year old 20 inch sassafras tree that I had nurtured and pruned into a beauty. It died a year ago but the birds loved to stage in it...finally decided it had to go. I couldn't believe how strong the aroma was. Now it is firewood. When it hit the ground, the little limbs exploded into a million pieces I had to rake up (it was in the yard).

Then mowed for a couple of hours and string trimmed a little.

Good morning from Central Texas. Still cool for us here. Awaiting rains this week. On 3rd coffee and soon to begin the daily grind for work.

The USAF C-17 Globemaster transport workhorse is operated by several USAF commands. The C-17 III version transports virtually all of the Army’s air-transportable equipment such as a 69-ton M1 Abrams main battle tank, armored vehicles, trucks and trailers in addition to troops (102) and palletized supplies.

Best wishes to all

Good morning, the low is 31 and the high to 42°F. Wind N 2 mph. Light snow this morning, giving way to light rain this afternoon.
Winter just will not quit this year. The snow we got last night was only 1/2".

No gravel yesterday, hopefully today, but I am not holding my breath.

I have lots of hand work to do outside, but I cannot do it when the temperatures are this cold.

Jobs for today: spread gravel IF it comes. Maybe nip into town and gather the parcel that the PO doesn't want to deliver.

Have a safe day all

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or maybe not screw up too badly).

30.0F, going to high 50s. Frost on the car and roofs. I covered the branches of the trees we planted two weeks ago with newspaper and spring clips, so the leaf buds/young leaves/blooms should make it okay. The ones up the woodlot will be a crapshoot…

I am taking two water samples today, from the upper and lower branches at the woodlot, just to see how much treatment I would need to make it drinkable. Bringing up jugs of water gets old…

Bailey got a clean bill of health at vet - “ the definition of canine health!” Is what his exact words were. He gave us a prescription for her puppy-induced anxiety (CBD). She was kind of mellow and ignored his antics for the afternoon, so that was good.

Ran mom around for some errands, but first we drove up the four-lane 20+ miles to get an early lunch at our favorite Greek Restaurant (it is our favorite because the next one is over an hour away 😁😂) before the lunch rush.

after that, tried working with more basic puppy training — still trying to get “SIT” to work… hardheaded little bugger…

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!

Good Morning.
39 with a high of 57 under clear skies today. Last dry day for the coming week.
IMG_1828.jpg

Yesterday went as planned, Zoe did ok at school, other dogs are a major distraction to be overcome, as is the concept of heeling.
Got a few lights in with the RC plane, I am really enjoying electric power, and looking forward to converting at least some of nitro powered models.
Today is definitely a mowing day based on the forecast, probably a Costco run as well, Thursday is shearing day for the alpacas, I’m in charge of feeding the troops, and I need supplies. I hope to take advantage of the weather with some RC flying as well. Electric power makes that much easier to squeeze in, 15 minutes is a very useable chunk of time.
And I still have to get to Drew’s RV.

Drinking first cup of hot coffee. 23° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 43° with rain in afternoon. In between snow flakes falling I spent sometime running vacuum in pond. Not a easy job. 10' of wand full of water and debris. Water is clearer each time I do it. Today will be a conserve energy day.
Caught this Tufted Titmouse setting still long enough for a photo yesterday.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.
Ron- Nice photo. You captured the feather texture and color really well for the lighting. Thanks for sharing.

41°, low was 30° with a good frost.

Was planning to mow in VA Thursday, but now show 95% chance of .5” rain, and 1” for Friday, so will delay. That’s problem with keeping BX at MIL house, need to coordinate picking it up.
If it gets too tall BX won’t work with the belly mower. Might need to take my Massey and RFM, I can raise it to mow if grass too tall.

Boyo failed obedience school. He was not treat motivated, was too distracted by all the other dogs, and was "picking up" on the other dog owners' fear/anxiety of Boyo due to his size and energy which led to their dogs' defensiveness. All Boyo wanted to do was play around with the other dogs. On the good Boyo is people and dog friendly which was a concern due to the Anatoly Shepherd DNA.

It was a mostly clear 29ºF for this morning's low temperature. It is currently a mostly sunny 34ºF, and I anticipate increasing clouds with afternoon with a high temperature ~50ºF and a chance for some rain showers.

The NWS/Boston-Norton Office's week synopsis sums up this workweek and weekend:

".SYNOPSIS...
An upper level low pressure area will set up across the Great Lakes
and southeast Canada this week. A series of disturbances rotating
around this low pressure aloft will bring scattered afternoon
showers through Thursday. High pressure brings dry and seasonably
mild weather Friday. Approaching low pressure from the south may
bring showers Saturday, then a stronger low pressure may lead to
heavier and more widespread rainfall sometime next Sunday or
Monday."

Ron- I have 2 Popeye arms. It was not PT that led to this, but a mix of meds that I was taking at the time. And now I have an unnatural craving for spinach and beating up big guys with beards.

Interesting comment on meds. I was taking all kinds of meds at the time I had arm problems. Today I am not taking any prescriptions meds. All test show good. Except a little high on cholesterol.

I can not remember which medications led to the bicep tears. Now I am interested. We'll see.

One of the 8 Warbler that I captured last year- A Northern Parula which are considered threatened:

Morning all, 39 going up to 59, glad I only planted half the tomatoes , not looking happy.
Did get the tractor out to move a bunch of stumps to clear them out of the back area, still need to move all the tree trunks and branches, but running so late the greenery is starting to hide stuff. The Backhoe thumb is getting some good usage.

Today will try to get rm43 down on walkways and some of the mulched area.

Be well,

From the internet: "corticosteroid medications can increase the likelihood of a bicep tear at both the shoulder and the elbow." I was on extremely high levels of Prednisone at the time of my injuries. The right bicep tore first and a couple of months later the left.

I am sure I was taking some during that time. 7 day does packets. Along with statins, hormones, BP and heartburn meds. Today any Dr better have their hard hat on if they want to prescribe any drugs for me.

Good Morning!!!! 62F @ 6:00AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 86F. Winds NNW at 10 to 20 mph.
Sheesh, it's way too early in the year to be courting the 90s, but there it is. A couple weeks ago it was raining and hailing and close to snowing. Once again, it appears that spring's duration will be measured in days instead of months.

A few days ago I put up an ad on Craig's List for my first flail mower, and found an ad for an old string trimmer that never sold last year. So I turned that ad back on, and yesterday got a hit from a guy a little south of here that wanted it. So took care of that first thing yesterday morning, driving a few minutes south to save him some time and a climb up into the hills. Nice guy, has a side gig selling firewood he gets almost for free from local farmers to people going camping that usually buy it in grocery and convenience stores for outrageous money. Only in America I guess.

Got the back yard gravel raked out before it got too warm, but still got over heated. Nice way to work up an appetite, though Mr. Back was none too pleased with the bending over and steep terrain.

Contractor called to tell me an inspector from the county was on his way over to see the porch cover and chimney chase, and the fellow was very happy with what he found. Contractor and his crew will be here again at 7AM to work on the chase. Got a couple roofer names from the inspector and passed them along to the contractor, so I'm hoping for some better news on that, too. But hope in one hand, spit in the other, and see which one's got more in it...

Had a hit on the flail ad, took and posted some additional photos for the guy, then nothing. Spent the rest of the day shopping ProMaster vans to see how close I could get to my wish list, and just like with the Transits, found that most vans on the lots are crapped up with expensive and useless options, at least from my viewpoint. Even found some dealers applying Market Adjustments, in one case $10k. Nope, sorry, don't need a van that bad, and you can take your MA and put it where the sun don't shine. Gave that up and had a nice meal, not sure what the next move is, only that I'm running out of options.

Not sure what I'll get up to today, but it'll probably involve some mowing. Probably too early for that, too, but every year I procrastinate too long and wish I'd gotten an earlier start and not let the grass get four feet high. It's half that now, so here's my chance. Just don't wanna ride a slip'n'slide of fresh cut grass down the hill, so have to figure that angle out, too.

Good morning! Low of 34°, heading to 64°. Good, if not a little better chances, of some showers. Got a sprinkle overnight, not enough to register in the gauge. Nice to "smell the rain" though......

Now have a 50% chance of showers / t-storms. I hope it works out better than yesterday's chances......

I totally forgot about the scheduled gravel delivery this morning. I had rolled over and took a 45 minute 'sleep extension'...... Just as I was pouring my first cup, heard a deep rumble.... yep..... a dump truck backing down the drive. He'll be back shortly with the second load.

Not sure what today's agenda will be.... plenty of things to tackle, just not sure which one will get started with first. My first thought is to unload the materials from yesterday's excursion for supplies. Logic tells me to then cut the parts for the tree planters, and then assemble.

But, distraction and Murphy's gremlins have been spotted around the corner.......
Plus, there's all that gravel that needs to be spread......

Everyone have a great day!
