58 now, may not get much warmer here, 50 miles south is 70.
My first minimum wage job paid $1.25, when I was 17 I was running a front end loader/backhoe on a union job for $3.85 hr, thought I was making all the money in the world. Then I spent two years with Uncle Sam, after that I went to college, and then started my own business, where often I didn’t make minimum wage. :D

Have a good day guys, God bless.

65°F and ,43 inches rain

Lowe’s delivery yesterday afternoon but unfortunately so did the rain about 30 minutes prior. Did get it tatted over. Hopefully today I can untarp, sort and move indide of tractorshed. All the early use stuff needs to be dried and painted before install. So much easier to paint at ground level.

Good news from concrete sealer company that I can seal my seal my new concrete when only 5-7 days old.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

well after getting the food ready, I snuck out and planted the last of the red cabbages.
It's almost 80 out here, wow.

Oh Happy Days. No less than six volunteers showing up early tomorrow morning to help me plant those thousands of collard plants. I don't care if they put them in upside down :D well actually I do...
So I'll go out this afternoon in shorts and tshirt and get everything staged. Four kinds of collards, will plant the very tops of each row, I think there are six, maybe seven, and the volunteers can hopefully just mimic what I've done. Takes a gentle touch pulling seedlings apart, but at least one of the volunteers is a lady with a big garden so she can help me teach the others. One volunteer has been here before, with her 40 year old mildly autistic son. He gets such joy out of this.

My first job was working for my dad. I don’t remember being paid! I did get a whopper from Burger King, and maybe a shake. Later I remember making $4 hour working in a union factory job. I worked all kinds of crazy shifts. I always hated rotating shifts. I could never get my sleep right. I think that on any off shift, I cheated myself on sleep, resulting in being tired all the time.

43 currently. 63 for the high. Headed to 20. Currently raining with river flood warnings already. As well as area flood watches. Water over county road in two places. Not bad and the usual places. I’ve seen worse here. So far you can still see the road. At noon today rivers were forecast to reach 2-5 feet above flood stage by Sunday. We are wet.

Taking care of chickens and cows. Trying to get taxes together.

Drew. Glad your getting help.

Only thing close to shift work was my high school days as a Pizza Hut delivery driver. All my other jobs I never knew what time I’d get off work till I actually did. Drove a spray coupe and pumped anhydrous ammonia through college. Nothing like a 60 acre spray job call 30 minutes before close. One particular customer. Then went to work for a agriculture research company. Set start time but not finish. Nothing worse than a 75 hour week on a 40 hour salary. No overtime. But we had flexibility to take that time later. Mainly during winter. Then at 25 I became self-employed. Now I work whatever I need to. Nothing like a 8am-midnight x7. Don’t do that often. Then being on call 24/7. Although not nearly as bad as it was on the regular contract. Would have 6am-9am the next day. Because it took all night to catch birds. This contract gets the times broken up more, and being first caught it means better times and your not up all night.

Good to hear most are healing even if slow. No more injuries.

The shortest job (15 minutes) I ever had was a scrap yard in Alberta. The longest (32 years) is where I am working now. At 72 years of age, I have thought about retiring, but I wont. I like browning off the junior guys. I'm #1 driver and get to pick and choose what I want to do on any given day. I still go North west for the duration of the summer and love every minute of it. Thunder Bay, ON is 852 miles away from the bosses. Great! It takes 21 hours to get there by car, so it would be about 24 hours by truck.

Sounds like your happy with your decisions. That’s a big win, right there.
