Grew up halfway between two towns, I went to school in town with about 1200, but could have gone to school in town of 11,000.. Now I live near metro area with about 500k.

Good evening. Quiet weather day. High was about 33. Tomorrow rain and about 46. Next week looks a bit cool again.

Training went well today. The younger employee I have been mentoring probably did about half the program today. In the 10 months he has been there, he has learned a lot. I am very impressed. There are 3 of us, the other one, who tends to be a problem child even did decent though not as much of the presentation. I won稚 say I was impressed, but he did much better than expected. I was a bit off today, not sure why. Just did not get into a groove. But then, usually, in these training sessions, I am the only one talking, not used to getting support. Guess I need to figure out how to do this training with actual help.

I know what Buckeye is talking about with the town he grew up in. A lot of towns in that part of Ohio are getting smaller. The county I live in is the opposite. It has started growing, never thought I would see that in my lifetime.

Everyone have a safe and good evening

It reads like a successful training presentation. "Educating" presenters always seem to work harder than the hopefully recipient presentees.BTDT Any retention of the training material presented is a success by any standard. Good luck with the "problem child."BTDT as both.

Good evening all. 48F for the start, overcast, calm wind. Light to moderate wind, overcast stayed all day, and high temp was 63F. More cold is on the way and the possibility of frozen precip. Errands got put off till tomorrow, lost some 2032 batteries spent too long looking for them, never found them :banghead: Did get a bike ride in, late this week does not look so good for outside activity.
Lynn sorry about the new found damage, can you fix or do you have to take it in.
PJ was that Granite City? I grew up near Lambert Field.
RNG good luck fixing the winch.
Kyle hope you get the BP sorted out.
prayers for all.

PJ, had to laught at the "little" town of 40k people. The largest town where i grew up was 3500 people, more like 2500 now. The whole county is 14K.

Granite City used to be the largest city in Southern Illinois. Not so anymore. It's shrunk to about 30K these days, and a couple other cities have grown beyond that. I say "little" because we are in the St. Louis metro area, and of course the 300K people over in that city makes everything else relatively little. Honestly, though, when I was growing up, it did kind of have a small town feel to it, in spite of its population. Maybe because we lived on the very eastern edge of town. We were the second house from the end of our street, and beyond the neighbor's house was farm fields as far as you could see (which are all developed into neighborhoods and businesses now).

Wikipedia noted that Trenton IL has a population of 2,619 -ish. We're about 4 miles from all those people, and we don't mind that at all.

1 degree right now...high in the mid-teens with some snow showers.

-12°F going to a high of +12. Wind S 6 mph. Periods of light snow.

I am chainsaw shopping today. The neighbour across the street has a Stihl and looks out for us when I am not home, but I want a new one for here. So far I have settled on a Husqvarna battery powered one, model 120i, it comes with a battery and charger. I will get an extra battery for it.
My last saw I bought used for 50 bux running, power head only. The clutch was out off it and the bar was gone. I took it to a repair guy I know and he put a clutch into it and a new 16" bar and chain for $100. So all totaled it cost me $150.oo. That saw lasted me 14 years until some smartass ran it on straight gas. Burned a hole in the piston.
With a battery powered one I don't have the hassle of mixing gas and oil, not do I have to put up with the vibration which my shoulders wont put up with any more.
I wouldn't buy any saw at all except for the tree that is down. I don't want to rely on my neighbours to get me out of trouble.

Have a good day all

Wngsprd, maybe we can meet in SNP sometime for a hike. I am way out of shape..... A few yrs ago i was doing lots of 10mile hikes on the AT with the scouts.

I'd love to do it (but not 10 miles :) )

Got up early this morning, packed up a daypack and was ready to drive up and see sunrise at Hawksbill only to do a double check of the weather, and then called the SNP phone line...found out the Skyline Drive is closed due to snow/ice. :( Well, plenty to do around here.

32 going to 48.

LS, great skunk story. When it snowed last week, I found skunk tracks and followed to a den...now I mostly avoid that area.

Thomas, crazy how that tower blew over.

Buppies, since I am throwing the frisbee, I haven't taken any photos. Good idea so I'll ask my wife to try to take some.

Lynn, sorry your sled got damaged. Hope you don't miss much action while it is getting repaired.

Did Mrs. Eric have to get a cast?
