GF19, You called yours opinion by stating "I think" and I just stated the AHA guidelines. Let's keep this professional and reference all facts.
By the way, I completely admire the fact that you have not eaten fast foods for 20 years - you are my model that it can be done. You are the queen of Whole Foods.

As a medical professional, I think the AHA guidelines are a crock of poop. Yes, I know what is healthy, and what is not. I also cheat, so do not want to come across as "holier than thou". I do not go through "drive through" windows. I do however, think that ALL food groups are important. Yes, that goes back to the "4 Basic food groups", but I have yet to find anything that will come close to being as "balanced".

I have done my best to keep this from becoming personal, as that is NOT what I want. If you want to put classes, degrees and other info as a claim that mine is "opinion" and yours is not, please let me know, as I can come out with more info than I wanted to share on a public forum. Should you wish to accept the "one size does not fit all" theory, then I will go back to being a "regular" person.

GF19?
ok

and to lighten this up, for you two testy Texans... :D

Oh give me a home, where the quarter pounder roams
and the fries are not limp or too soft
Where never is seen, a discouraging bun
and the kids will certainly have fun

Oh give me a home, where the Big LongHorn Mac roams,
and the mesquite fries don't light my bottom on fire
where never is heard, a discouraging blurp
from the ketchup your pants learned to slurp.

and.... one more time....
Oh give me a home where the soy burger roams
and the carbs just cannot be found
Where never is heard a discouraging fluff
from the beans you just ate in a huff

sorry, that was just too much fun
Shakespeare isn't going to lose any sleep tonight.

Murphy1244: I have no intention of creating an issue on this thread. I have been having fun on this thread for several weeks now. (Don't believe me, go look at my postings!) However, IF it is supposed to be an issue, I can have that here, or anywhere else, if need be.

I don't think txdon and I are really adversaries, just have different beliefs in what is best, on the whole. No two Texans are really ever adversaries.

FG19, As a medical professional you know the guidelines set up for treatment and prescriptions. You must really feel frustrated knowing that going outside these guidelines subjects you to litigation when things don't end right.
I have never said that one size fits all, in fact if you read my post I often reference my brother who has 0 plaque build-up as a clue to the difference in individuals even in the same family.
Since no one has the exact CAUSE of heart disease nailed down all I can do is listen to the medical professionals, but since they can't agree I have to look for advice from the ones with the best results - specifically for those with my type of heart disease. I'm not concerned about healthiest diet for prevention at this point, I'm way past that....

I'm gladly open to any of your research, and if it is a fact, please reference your facts instead of saying "I think" so I can evaluate the reference and keep it non-personal.

You, as a medical professional, have a greater responsibility to make sure your advice for people with heart disease does nothing to progress their disease. I on the other hand am relaying my personal experiences battling this disease. The decisions to follow whatever advise represents my research and interviews with experts in reversing atherosclerosis and right now I'm going with Dr. Gould Professor of Medicine/Cardiology and Director, Weatherhead P.E.T. Center for Preventing and Reversing Atherosclerosis, University of Texas Medical School at Houston and The Bush Center for Cardiovascular Health at Hermann Hospital, Houston, Texas.

If you have better data than he has please present you facts, but first know his facts.

No two Texans are really ever adversaries.

It must be raining up there also we are spending way too much time on the internet.

David (Moss) I keep thinking of that episode on the series "Breaking Bad" Where the separated husband just moved back into his house in a different room. He was very polite to his wife but made it clear that it was his house also. She called the police but without any threats or violence there was nothing they could do without a court order. Is it just an agreement between the two of you are is there a court order?

But of course that is Hollywood, and it fit in the plot of the show, real life situations may be different. (No need to answer. Anything you say can and will be used against you in open forum.)

Does anyone else remember that episode?

I don't remember the episode, as one who has never watched much TV, but it makes perfect sense to me. Yes, we are all on the outside looking in, but you your decision is if you get the extra bedroom, or you figure out you will be in an extended stay motel, before long. If you go back home, make sure you give no reason for wife to call the autorities. I wish we had the answers for you, mossflower. We can all keep you in thought and prayer.

Yes, txdon; I am ALWAYS in turmoil about how the medical "establishment" deals with things. I dealt with too much, too close at home, last summer. Funny (Ironic) thing is, now my mom's docs are contacting me, since she wasn't supposed to live more than 2 weeks in the hospital, much less be alive (and thriving) today. I was all for the hospitals and their "know how and abilities", but also knew there was something on the table they were missing. As a TEAM, we all made decisions, and she did come home and is doing very well, as a person of her years. Will she ever be 20 again, heck no, but neither will you or I. She is doing better than anyone would have bet on, last summer, including me. Her docs say that *I* saved her life. I say a team effort saved her life. And the most important thing is, SHE HAS QUALITY OF LIFE! Her doctors and husband will be the first to tell you that, as well as she, herself. I don't care what works, as long as it works. I just hate the issues throw on some of us, because the pharmaceutical companies, or a weight loss guru, or some other "expert' wants to claim it. Those problems are ALL OVER the Internet, and only make more issues.

Hang in there David. Can't really offer you any feel good advice. After two months, hopefully you have a better feel of where this is going and not just being strung along. While I understand you wanting to give time a chance, I can't help but wonder the effect on your children, surely doesn't sound like they are being allowed to see you in a positive manner. Don't let the relationships deteriorate beyond repair, not good for the young ones.
