I'm sitting by the pond watching the first sunrise from our new land we bought a few weeks ago. 68 degrees right now, sunny and 91 for a high. I'll be on the Kubota soon to continue making progress on clearing a place for a future home. :)

Good morning all. Another boring day weather wise. 59F at the start going to 84F sunny with light breezes. Garage sale prep on schedule today and it happens tomorrow.

Dave1949

Dave1949 --the job you want in a small Maine town is road commissioner, often called different things in different towns. That way you can work for free, have everyone in town blame you for the twice annual front end alignment, broken leaf springs in real cold weather and, of course mud season in general when they get stuck in front of their house. You're really not to be blamed, but it goes with the turf.

For those who have never spent a long winter in rural Maine you aren't sure how bad it can be, but trust me it is.

good morning all, reporting in from the Poconos. What a pretty place this is, almost deserted during the week, though tomorrow they are having a 5k run that goes right through the campground so that should be interesting to watch, perhaps....I'm sure not much of a runner.

Boy do we like the gas heat in the motorhome. Quieter and warmer than the noisy and drafty heat pump.
But we got our education this morning....oh dear, the propane level reads almost empty. Oops. Guess the heater sucks a lot of propane. Kinda wondering how I'm going to cook sausage and eggs this morning.
Oh well, cook til it stops, then go outside and fire up the travel grill.

today I work on the golf cart, watering the batteries, and then I might spritz the motorhome with some spray detailer, after I scrub the bugs off the front. And then we go exploring up and down every single little part of this campground. Some huge fifth wheelers here, this place is a little more upmarket than the last place we went, nothing looked green and moldy from being there too long.

I also intend to take a book down to the lake, sit in my rocker, and read, occasionally looking up to see the leaf colors reflected in the water, like a French impressionist painting.

Lastly, it seems that Marshall Machinery is all of ten miles away in Honesdale, the next big town East of us.
Boy if I were pulling a car instead of a golf cart, I'd be gone to over there in a heartbeat. Lots of used Kubotas there, just a first class dealership from what I've seen.

So, I intend to stay very busy doing as little as possible, and hope you all have a great Friday.

HOpe the Newport job comes through for you Roy, if it is the one I think I know you would like working there.

I do too, but it's probably not the company you're thinking of.
Sent you a PM...

Drew,

I'm 49 and I remember way too many things some days...

Wacky Tobacky is way off limits to guys like me due to my clearances... so that is a 1000% NO GO at this station.

But I appreciated the humor.
:D

71F, .01 inches since midnight. Although we did get .4 inches yesterday, most was last night, no impact on the road repaving, which they'll finish today.
Sun peeking over the horizon.

Laid out for my fence posts yesterday but haven't decided to auger the 36 holes yet, might wait until next week.
Got the new iphone configured for MIL, now I have to make a little cheat sheet for her.

Have a great day.

Did a little work in the yard, just picking up junk. I have to take it easy until my ankle heals up. I need to keep it elevated as much as I can. But that is very boring... Beautiful day here, hope you guys had a good one!!!

Well, it didn't...bummer, but not the end of the world and I did do two phone interviews during this week.
Actually, the only position that really disappointed me was one that I had applied for months ago (before Vermont Castings). A lengthy phone interview, two on-site interviews and I was (per the HR manager) the leading candidate. Then the job was cancelled. Now, that really sucked.
We were going to move to New England (Vermont or New Hampshire)...that decision had been made mid-2012, with the expectation that the move would be Spring, 2013. Just happened that Vermont Castings called...and they did pay for the relocation, so no complaints there. Although we do love this place, in retrospect, I wish we had stuck with renting for a while. Job search would have been more flexible. However, that's a moot point and we're not going to move. Great house, great property and great location. Also, it's probably one of the few properties that was purchased (in the area) this year.
And we did plan on all costs being covered by our retirement funds and some cash (not much) I had stashed. So, even if I do fully retire (and I am kicking that around), we'd be OK...life might get somewhat simpler...but barring a catastrophe, we'd be ok.

I worked half a day (7.5 hours) today, then came home, changed clothes and got on the JD, and did some brush hogging! They are predicted a good chance of rain beginning tomorrow! I have my fingers crossed, but if it is not raining early, I'll get out and get more mowing done. That way, when the rain does happen, I can go run in it! We haven't seen much rain the past few years, and I might have forgotten what it feels like to play in it! I hope that I get the chance to remind myself.

Y'all have a good weekend!

Of course!

I posted pics here the last time I ran naked through the rain. So many want to complain of my antics that I'll post them elsewhere, this time! :confused3:

Well, wife suggested this might be a good day for me to run a couple of errands in town being as the repaving work is done (they ran out of money a few hundred feet short) and she would stay home with the dogs.
Refilled 4 5ers of diesel, 3 gasoline.
HomeDepot run to get my gutter stuff for the tractor shed extension.
Don't like to get fuel or stuff in the back of truck with the dogs.

I skipped out of work a couple hours early and grabbed my 2 big girls and headed off to opening day of the Virginia State Fair... I got us 3 unlimited ride wristbands, and off we went to the carny rides!

And man did we ride!!! Almost every single ride, some of them more than once.

I've been spun, flipped, centrifuged, etc. I've been dizzy enough tonight to need to think about it a little bit.
We ate funnel cake (they'd never had it), and drank expensive lemonade.
We laughed, we joked, we teased each other, we BS'd.
We had a cute color charactiture done (I look very silly in it, they look gorgeous) and rode some more rides.

We finished up at a truck stop subway/dairy queen with huge subs and choco-covered ice cream cones.

My head feels like I've been on a bender and I'm just recovering from the hangover...

But it was amazing and wonderful...

They are simply the best girls in the universe. We had F U N. It was a great Friday night.
