Coffee is brewing. 48° with clouds this morning. Heading to 54° with chance of rain all day. We cleaned out some cabinets the other day. Threw out about 20 Yellow Page phone directories. Tried to lift to many of them. Now my back is sore. Leaves are falling fast. Need to get pond covered. But other chores will put that off for another day.

I forgot to mention that Fearsome Freddie has come home. After doing an outstanding job
protecting the garden, he now does Halloween duty in front of the house. Poor guy, the mice took his
butt away, wish it were that easy~

Good Morning! 59˚ getting to the 70s. No rain today but over 3" the last few days. I'll mow as much as I can before the sand land dries and turns into a dust bowl again (about 3 days). The front black land cannot be mowed for another week without mud getting stuck on the wheels.

The mowed field will give a boost to the wildflowers trying to sprout in November. 2014 will be a good flower year if a few rains hit just right.

like Don - I'll be mowing some today and more on the weekend after it dries a bit. Need to get the riding mowers readied up and I'd like to burn a brush pile or 2 if time permits. Tomorrow is run to town day and Saturday is a family reunion on the wife's side. Her father passed a few weeks ago and she's been going through 2 hump back trunks full of old pictures she wants to share. Copier's been busy.

Got some inside chores today...putting up new curtains for the deck door/windows, then figuring out if the water is coming up through the baseboard heat.
Rained last night and more predicted for today (30% probability), so I doubt there's any outside work going to be done.

Not sure what the fascination with Bimmers is, but whatever gets the grades I guess. My son and daughter both wanted CJ-7/Wrangler and they got them. My son went through college on a free ride with a presidential scholarship and my daughter had about 80% paid through scholarships in both academics and sports. Their greatest success though was in each providing us a grandson!

Jim, I made that mistake with my Daughter, I told her if she makes Deans List all thru college I would buy her a BMW convertible. She keeps sending me text with her Grades with a smiley face just got another this morning. I better start saving.

Well, it would seem that monetary motivation is at least partially successful. I just have to explain to my grandson that hitting one home run is not the objective. It's winning the "World Series." Unfortunately, my grandson reads at a 4th grade level while he is in the 8th grade. He's improving, but it is so, so slow.

Brrr! It's 38.8 F here this morning. I've got to head out to Wichita Falls soon to have some stitches removed where I had a couple of skin lesions removed (warts). It's a shame that I have to drive so far each way to get that done, but it's just once, so not so bad.

:laughing::laughing::laughing: Just went to the local National Weather Service site and was shocked to see the screen until I read the fine print. It's 38 F here this morning and the sky is clear, but look at the forecast below. Look closely at what it says about the effects of the gov't shutdown though. This site is useless until the gov't gets funded.

My 21 month old tells mommy as they drive by our house;"Mommy, POP POP POP POP!" until she drops him off while she goes to the grocery store. Better than any material item.

I don't know your grandson's situation, just putting an example out. My niece was in the same boat, plenty smart but had trouble with reading and math unless the teacher read it aloud. Finally discovered she was mildly dyslexic, with some work on the correct problem she was soon caught up. Nobody had a clue until the 6-7 grade.

so... my next older brother's son decides to go to the Naval Academy too. He was almost top of his class and went on to be a nuclear tech aboard a boomer.
I guess he got tired of cramped spaces, and came home to PA, chucked his million dollar US govt education on nuclear energy, and became a financial planner in his home town. I wonder if his nuclear training will help him start his chainsaw...

If it is dark out, the fact he glows in the dark will be a big help.

Good Evening. 1800, cloudy, 78* with 75% humidity. Forecast low of 66* with 20% chance of thunderstorms.

I mowed and trimmed the graveyard yesterday. Since the blades on the Husqvarna were old and about wore out, I went ahead and mowed the tall weeds in the new part. Back when my cousin's husband died, she extended the graveyard out into what had been planted pines. {I joked that she wanted to plant him in new ground} Since then her friend with a dozer has taken out the rest of the pines and smoothed it out some.

I went back this morning with the tine harrow on the B7500 and raked up all the roots and limbs I could. Then I broadcast some ryegrass seeds and raked them in. With any luck, there will be a shower tonight to water them.

Good evening all. 48F at the start 65F for the high cloudy this morning cleared at noon light breeze.
Continued work on back wall, should finish tomorrow. Taking granddaughter to playoff game tomorrow night, she is excited.
