25 degrees right now...almost balmy after the last few days! The predicted high is 32 with some flurries...flurrying now, in fact.

My house isn't that old...I think the build year was 1990, so I'm not too concerned about the snow loads as Wayne and Thomas are. I did have one of my neighbor kids (young man) clear the snow off sections of the roof so any freeze/thaw/freeze cycles don't back up under the shingles. That's when a roof can leak.

Wayne and Thomas...Be Careful on those roofs!!!

Yesterday's commute there was black ice on the freeway, overpasses, and on/off ramps in Fredericksburg.

I could not get past town so I went south and way around. 4 hours to drive to work...

Meetings went well and I ended up out for adult bevs with the guys and after a "rest" to be safe to drive it was VERY early this morning (I will not admit how early) and due to construction I had to go the long way around and that took well over 2 hours.

Therefore I officially register yesterday as my worst commute ever.

I'm off to work now. Wish me better luck today...

We had black ice big time yesterday, so I stayed home until it melted, semi retirement has it's advantage. 28 this morning, low 30's now, 55 later, 70's this weekend, low 40's Christmas, it's just weather.
Drew, those oysters have a great buffet, but they hire those shrimp waiters and they can't reach the table and have bad attitudes, so they just flounder around while you perch on the stool waiting.

Roy I am with Thomas, my days of climbing up onto a snow covered roof are long past! Rake off what I can reach and hope that is enough. The old house portion has purlin roof structure and is very very old so I do not take any chances on it failing. The other roof areas all I am trying to do is move some snow away from the edges or as far as I can reach so as to prevent water dams and backups.

It was on sale for $350 at Amazon with free shipping. I don't know that I need all the "Smart" features, but that added less than $50 and I do like the Samsung brand. Here's a link.It;s back up to $377+ now. We have a DishNet HD Joey in our bedroom, but only a low-res 20" LCD TV over 5 years old. That shows you how TVs are such a bargain. This new TV is 32", HD, and less than $100 more than the old TV.

Good morning all. 53F now with a forecast high of 51F . Snow melt continues, have Christmas shopping and a running toilet to deal with. Might get some wood prepped for the fireplace, have rain in the forecast through Saturday and 24F for a high Monday .

Wellll, that is about half mile down the road from our house We'd be between 1011 o'clock as you look at pic. Wife snapped this during her morning walk.

While possible to drill a well, not that common where we are. We are about 1100 ft elevation, so might be expensive. As I recall, drilling a well requires special state permit. There is a spring that runs just above our property.
