Freezing rain for a couple of days, then back down to 0. Nice, it will make Michigan a giant ice cube.

Good Afternoon. 1215, cloudy, 75* with 83% humidity. Forecast high of 77* with 20% chance of rain.

Nice looking bear Wayne. Twenty years ago when I was young and dumb, {as opposed to old and dumb today} I hunted on St Joe Timber Company land on Four Mile Creek. My friend lived nearby and I would park at his house and walk through the woods. The only problem was I had to cut across some posted land, or wade the creek. Did I mention being young and dumb? One day I was sneaking along on the posted land, trying to be as quiet as possible, when I saw a big deer track. I got down on one knee to have a closer look. All of a sudden it sounded like about twenty men rushing me. I took off running through the swamp, leaving my rifle behind. After about ten yards I knew I had pulled my hamstring and had to stop. I heard the noise again, but this time I saw a young sow bear beating a bunch of palmetto bushes with her front paws. I had surprised her and her cub and she was letting me know I should leave. I had never been so relieved to see a bear in my life. {in Florida it is a felony to trespass with a firearm} I limped back and got my rifle and started the long slow trip back to my truck. Not long after that we cut a tree down across the creek so we didn't have to go on posted land, or get wet.

Nice story Larro! This bear, scare face comes every year to get the bird seeds. One has to wonder how something that weighs over 300 pounds can gain weight eating a pound or so of bird seed. He's a smart one though and we put up with him for sure. Very little posted land around us and we let hunters pass although it is always nice for them to ask. As for the bear here are a couple more pics.

a rather balmy sixty two degrees here, about all it's going up to as a wall of water is headed at us for later tonight.
But I had to spend some time outside so I washed both the Golf and the Suburban. Hmmm, wonder why those stitches are a little
twingey now?

Sat down with a nice mug of coffee and have put my feet up, figuratively. I think the vacuum cleaner will last one more day so i'm safe to put off vacuuming to tomorrow... Going to be raining then too apparently.

You just don't want to do too much in one day.
that's my story and I'm sticking to it

we may be getting rain tonight but Northern Maine is getting 8-12 inches. Just a dusting for them.
I wonder how 4Shorts is doing with his plowing activities with all these storms going through.

48 this morning high mid 60s time for ride with top down. Going to order back splash tile for bathroom we did a year or so ago reorder under counter lights for kitchen since original order cannot be filled due to manufacturing issues(plant moving). Need to find 3x12 cherry heat vents, not having much luck. Good morning

Try this outfit. It says 3x12 cherry is available. Don't have experience ordering from them...

25*F, calm and cloudy. Up to 1/2" of ice tonight and tomorrow are still a possibility. Maybe I should dig out an extra fuel can for the generator. :)

dave1949--Did you happen to live there for the Great Ice Storm of 1998? Might have been 1997. Power was out for two weeks for many people and a bazillion trees were bent over back to the ground. Power lines down everywhere, trees across all the roads and if you couldn't take care of yourself you didn't get taken care of. Point is, get the extra fuel can. :D

Good evening folks, just got back from taking my wife and our 3 kids and their spouses on a Carribean cruise. Did you miss me? After 8 wonderful days, we were actually glad to be coming home, just not to the weather we are having. 33F with rain changing to freezing rain overnight.

We did! We did!

but no cruise exists without pictures....

good Sunday morning to all.
65 degrees going to 72 today in rain, pretty strange weather.
Most of the first wave of rain went North of us and into New England but this second batch
looks headed for us later today. Good day to get chores done inside, or to watch the game...

we are sitting right at 40 degrees now and it is calling for rain all day and into the night.
Temps seem to be holding above freezing for today so maybe zero ice for us.

21 this morning with snow moving in looks like some plowing in my future.we will have a high 24 with snow through the day and night.

the wind chimes are dinging away, playing a variety of melodies behind the house, in a steady 20mph wind.
the front is bearing down on DC and Baltimore now, will cross the Chesapeake ,and then might wake Toppop up.
Buppies is probably getting soaked right now. But it's so remarkably warm out that it appears the warmth is going North far enough to
warm up New England. But definitely not Wisconsin. I wonder if snow is the secret ingredient in Wisconsin's cheese...

Drank my fist cup of coffee. 63° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 78 with mostly sunny skies all day. Yesterday turned out to be a nice day after the wind died down. Should be another one of those relaxing day today.
Good Morning All.

36F steady 6 mph wind, snow taken beating maybe 3 to 4 inches left many southern areas south side bare ground. :)

Finger cross no freezing rain but I have feeling not to be later on this evening.

HAH! It's warmer here Ron!
momentarily...

I'd be interested to know how total rain levels this year compare vs last year and maybe long term. Just seems to be wetter now.
At least in these parts. Been a long time since the corn has dried up...

We were living in Wells during the '98 Ice Storm and were not affected. Had two or three tall, skinny saplings bend over and that was it. The damage started about 30 miles north of us. Sharon was teaching in Gorham at the time and it was a mess there and further north.

It's 26*F now, been hanging pretty steady in that range the past 12 hours. Off and on rain, freezing mist and sleet. No heavy ice accumulation so far. If the rain stays away mostly we will be fine. If not, it could get ugly. The conditions are right for icing, every little rain band is adding to the accumulation.

I did dig out the extra fuel can yesterday. :) The 4.5 gal tank on the generator is full and I have another 15 gallons in cans. There is another 30 gallons in the car's gas tanks. That would last us a long, long time since we don't need the generator to stay warm or cook.
