Our Mrs red bird is quite vocal seems to boss around the male. While raining Sunday morning she was really raising sand with him. The yellow finches are quite numerous as well this year and the males are beautiful and very yellow. Bird watching at the kitchen table very relaxing with all the different birds that come to eat

58F headed to upper 80's and clear sky again today.

The digital alarm clock decided on its own to go off this morning for 4-5 beeps and then turned itself off too. It's possessed. I think I will set it a less obnoxious time, like noon.

Be safe.

rswyan, someplace here on TBN I have pictures of the grapple I built for my B2910.
Ron,

Thanks ... I'll poke around and see if I can find anything and have a look.

Great tool for hauling logs and yard cleanup.
That's my primary intended use ... have a lot of brush and fallen trees and branches that needs picked up and relocated ... as well as a bunch of logs that I need to cut up for firewood.

But not much for grubbing out shrubs. Need a bigger tractor for that.
Yeah ... the B2910 is pretty light as far doing that type of stuff I would think.

Though I do have probably 600'+ of fence line that is overgrown that I'm hoping to clear ...

I guess the biggest thing will be how far out the nearby tree roots extend into the area I need to clear. This area was cleared to about 15' from the fence on my side by the neighbor when he installed the fence originally (15+ years ago ?) ... got the other neighbor to come in with his mini-ex and little dozer pop out all the stumps ... it has since grown up considerably.

He was keeping it mowed and sprayed (on my side) ... but when he sold the property the new owner did not keep it up and the jungle is taking over ... the shrubs and brush are probably the height of my head (or more) when sitting on the B2910.

The one I'm building is modeled after the WR Long RGB series ... but with some modifications (larger cylinders for one) ...

This is a picture of the "RGB-48" that TBN member NHBotanut has on his B7610, which is the model I'm using as an design example/template:

WR Long RGB 48 Grapple.jpg

I'm using 1/2" x 3" bar stock for the bottom rake teeth, with 1/4" plate for gussets, welded to 3" x 2" x 1/4 wall rectangular tube as a cross bar ... even so, I'd consider it a pretty light duty grapple. Not planning on trying to go wild with it, as far as ripping stuff out of the ground ... the B2910 just doesn't have enough *** for that, and the stresses on the loader could be pretty significant I would think.

wngsprd, my OEM battery lasted 12 years. Replaced it with a new Kubota battery. It was expensive. But if it last as long as the original. It is a good deal.
I got about the same out of my original battery ... replaced it with one from Autozone ... we'll see how that goes ...

Hilarious ...

Obvious parallels to the human world.

I can imagine ...

It's kinda like watching fish in an aquarium ... I could sit and watch either one for hours on end.

I used to have a breeding pair of these (Green Terror Cichlids) in a 55 ... they were just fascinating to watch ... customizing and setting up the tank to their liking, courting, breeding, and raising their young.

Good morning, 71 this morning on the way to 91. It is good to be home this morning after our trip to my brothers in Indiana. I was concerned driving 1000 miles with a truck that had been mostly sitting for the last 4 years towing a car dolly I bought on C list once I got there but it all went well.
Last night my son told me we are almost out of cow feed so I will be heading to the mill for a ton of all natural feed today if they have an opening.

Good morning! The sun's heat lasted overnight - 80˚ before sunrise heading to WHAT!!! - I just flipped over to todays hour by hour weather and a cold front is headed this way in an hour! Todays high only 97˚ and tomorrow morning's low will be 76˚ - time to break out the winter clothes. Whoo Hoo!

Rswyan, be sure to link us to your grapple build. Your grapple's main purpose of picking up sticks is a bit different than my grubber raker. I still have one issue with mine when I run across an occasional smaller Youpon with a deep tap root - like running fingers through hair. I don't want to add a cross bar along the front because I need to be able to dig deep for the big root balls but I could use a sharp cross bar between one set of teeth to use as the cutting section.

Thanks for the battery ideas. I stopped by the Kubota dealer yesterday for an oil filter, but didn't think about pricing a battery. I've had great service from Kirkland batteries (Costco) in our vehicles, but not sure if they carry what fits the tractor. I guess it's not too early to check into options, as long as my current battery doesn't find out about it.

RoMad, glad you made it home safely from Kokomo (great name) - that's a long trip.

71 and foggy here headed to 92.

When it come to batteries I like the NAPA batteries. Seem to have good luck with them in the generator. Then that battery goes into equipment the geny always gets the new one.

Good Morning. 0940, sunny, 80F with 73% humidity. Forecast high of 93F with 10% chance of rain today, and a low of 70F tonight. The cool weather and low humidity is sticking around for at least another couple of days. Historically the first two weeks of September are some of the hottest of the year. We will have to tough that out, then the first signs of fall should be right around the corner.

Today is Election Day here. I talked to my boss, and she said all is going smoothly at the Civic Center. And Margie said there are no problem so far county wide. Which is good for me. When she needs someone to run something somewhere, I always "volunteer" for that job:D

I replaced the battery on my B7500 last year. Kabota wanted $140 so I got one at NAPA for $100. It is lucky if it gets cranked once a month. Though I am thinking of switching my Woods RM400 from the B1750 to the B7500. The smaller tractor just don't have enough umph for my tall Bahaigrass. If I make the switch, it will see more use.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning all. 80F this morning Going to 96F today (hi 106F) slight chance of afternoon popups. It has been a bit of a challenge working outside, HI has been over 105 since Thursday last week, but making progress slowly. Still have weed eating to do got the push mowing done. Have to finish cleaning the garage after the tool sort and move stepsons tools into storage. Dr visit went well, lost 7 pounds since last year, blood fats are improving. I think if I loose about 20# more I should get off the borderline on blood fats. 2100 miles riding this year is helping that. :) House not listed yet, who knows when at this point :(

70F and .69 inches rain last 24 hours, sun breaking through

Back to working my hanging brackets this AM which should result in a number of fence panels properly hung, or rehung in the case of the ones with the old brackets I don't like.

Roy, congrats on the new job.
Drew, take it easy, don't over do it.

Be safe
Have a great day

My grapple was made with a 60" bucket that my dealer gave to me. It needed some repairs. But many years later it is one of my favorite attachments.

Definitely getting warm out there ... already up to 78 degrees here ... with plenty of humidity and abundant sunshine.

Just stuck some metal parts - several pieces of plate and some pulleys - in the acid bath to de-rust/strip them, using muriatic acid ... using a gallon of the "Ultra-safe" variety we've had lying around here for years. No mad foaming or clouds coming off the parts when I stuck them in, but one of the little pebbles I had put in there before I added the acid is bubbling quite a bit. The acid turned green around the parts almost immediately (it was clear when I poured it in) figure I'll let them soak for an hour or so and then have a look ...

If they are clean, then I'll pull the pieces of plate (which are immersed) and rinse ... and flip the pulleys over (which aren't totally immersed) to get the other side. If this works good - and I don't doubt that it will - I might have to pick up another gallon so the pool is a little deeper ...

Anything which helps avoid poking around in that stew (to flip parts say) has got to be a good thang.

Two of the pieces of plate I need to weld up the stands for the vice and the tubing roller/bender.

LOL ... I still remember hitting Dallas with a delivery one morning a couple years back when they had gotten dumped on with a couple of inches of snow ...

I think everyone was just kinda stunned ...

Will do.

Yup ... I don't imagine I'll be attempting anywhere near the amount of digging that you do with yours.

Interesting observation ...

I might have to consider adding a removable cutter blade that I can drop/bolt in, in the 1" gaps between the gussets on the rake teeth.

I can imagine that it would be - they appear to be a very handy attachment to have.

I'll probably be kicking myself ... or hear it from the wife:

"Why didn't you do this sooner ?"

... lol ...

Whee-O ...

I just went and checked the parts ...

Opened up the plastic container and cloud of fumes came out ...

The parts they're a-bubblin' now ...
