Good Morning. 1045, partly cloudy, 87F {102 heat index} with 74% humidity. Forecast high of 91F with 50% chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon, and a low of 71F tonight. I got a little mowing done right before dark last night. I switched the Woods RM400 RFM from the B1750 to the B7500, and the extra horsepower made a big difference in the tall grass. I still had to go in low range, but 3rd gear instead of 2nd. An added bonus is the B7500 is quieter, so I can hear my mp3 player better.

I've finished my lifting and breakfast, so I'm going to do a little more mowing before the rain gets here. Or at least that is the plan. I don't have anything scheduled at work, but I'm going in to deposit my paycheck and take Margie to supper. I'll make a few hours tending the lobby plants while I'm in town.

am in a lot of pain from the accumulated everything, plus that drive. Neck is just killing me below where they fused the three vertebrae. Just like the surgeon said it would...impossible to wear a soft collar on a hot day; even my back belt keeps the heat in. I have plenty of pain meds but am doing my best to stay away from them. But I think this morning I may have to find a little white pill of something.

I'm headed to Florida where Larro is opening up his Fountain of Youth Hotel. Going to check in for a while...of course, a few of you might be there too...:D
it's one thing to get old. It's another thing to get old and hurt. I need to work on the latter, though considering I've been going 12 hours a day for six weeks, perhaps no wonder I hurt.

Drew, come on down. Larro's Weight Loss and Tanning Emporium is open for business. After a few hours in the pea patch we will go down to the creek to 'rench' off. There will be three nutritional meals served per day, including bacon, eggs, peas and cornbread, ham, peas and cornbread, and pork chops, peas and cornbread. Plus fish if they are biting. Seriously, you need to take it easy the next few days. You've got a great place, and want to be able to enjoy it for a long time.

David {MFW}, hang in there Buddy. You will get through this.

Hope everyone has a good day.

Larro

Have a friend and fellow TBN member coming over later today to put another set of eyes on this 100A panel I installed, just to make sure there's nothing obviously wrong in what I did. One thing that has me perplexed is that there was no equipment ground bar included with it ... just a snotload of holes in the neutral bar.
A main panel with no other disconnects in front of it does not need a separate ground bar. Any panel after the first shutoff does need a separate ground bar, so you have to buy a add on grounding bar ($10-15 for most).

Aaron,

Thanks ... much appreciated.

I understand (from what you say) that it (a grounding bar) is required (per the NEC I would assume) ... it just seems kind of odd though ... in that I plan to install a ground rod for the panel, and bond the neutral to the ground ... :confused2:

Is this a main panel or a sub panel? A sub panel should NOT have the neutral and ground bonded but a main panel SHOULD have the neutral and ground bonded.

It's a sub panel (now with it's own main breaker) ... fed off a 60A double-pole breaker in the main panel in our home ... but it's located in an out building 400' away from the main panel in the house which feeds it.

The original panel (which I just replaced) was circa is early 1970's ...

It originally had just three wires (2 hot and 1 neutral) ... no ground rod installed at the outbuilding ... and it was main lug, not main breaker. It was a 100A 4 space box ... I replaced it with a 100A 24 space box.

Does it now have 4 wires or still 3? If it has 4 wires neutral and ground should not be bonded. If it has 3, they should be.

It still only has three wires ...

Upgrading the load center was do-able ... running another 400' of cable isn't at present.

Riptides,

Maybe we should team up...

Happy Hunting.

I might be joining you, my projects contract is about done, so I'm looking around. David, pm me sometime you come up to the columbia MD area, maybe we can meet for lunch.

Understandable, make sure you have a very good ground at the subpanel...
Will do ... #6 bare copper wire, proper clamps, and full length rod (or rods) driven all the way in (no cheating with part way and then cutting them off)

So the job fair was likely a bust. I did get the one company I KNEW had a gig I could do (I applied for it Tuesday) to talk to me and got an email address and a commitment to connect me with the correct recruiters.

The open house in Chevy Chase MD was very interesting. and odd format where all the applicants got to network with each other a bit (which seemed very odd).

I Interviewed with the CTO, and two VP's. The interviews wen swimmingly well I thought. They could clearly see I was qualiied, and personable.we mostly chit-chatted. They all just conveyed I'd be great on their team... But the VP of Business Development (the one interview I MUST get in order to even hope for an offer) was in New Mexico...

I've not had a bad interview yet. Every one has been great but still no offers. I was lead to expect offers could be made quickly at this event. It is very frustrating to be interviewing so well and still coming up short...

I will quit venting (for the moment).

Be well all,
David

David it will happen I'm sure your resilience is most refreshing. Somehow or other a cold seems to have found me sore throat and all. Now I'm whining but do hate summer colds and diabetes really doesn't like sickness shots or not. Cannot sleep breathe or seems like anything else for that matter. Enough of this off to bed or try at least. Hopefully Drew 's doctor visit went well

Buppies, hope you are feeling better this morning.
wish I was...
last day in PA; finish the house this morning with help from friends, then hook up the car to the dolley and off I go to Milton Delaware, about three hours South, to visit close friends on the way home, which breaks up the trip at least a little.

HOA yesterday told me that the vertical boards in one section of my nice Trex deck did not meet spec; too wide...so I will have to spend almost a thousand bucks taking the deck apart and putting smaller uprights in. Really stupid rule; homeowner wants privacy; the HOA doesn't want that apparently; at least it won't hold up settlement. It was the only nick at settlement so I'll just take my lumps and go on.

no more HOA's for me...

let's make it a good day.

Drinking iced coffee this morning. 70° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 88° with rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. Got the lawn cut yesterday. But it was so hot and sticky that I did not get trimming done. Maybe tomorrow when it is cooler out.
Drew, glad to hear move is almost complete.
David, keep up the spirits. Things will come together.
Good Morning All
