58 going to 75, with a chance of showers.

Ron, I'm coming over for the free coffee.

Good advice, Drew. I'm using that approach on my 2001 4Runner (355,000 miles).

Well today will be inside as rain and drizzle will keep me from working at least on outside. Plenty of paper work to do and bill to get together from last Friday. Several items need repairing starter on generator needs replacing for one, large concrete saw needs servicing walk behind needs air in tires. Oh my the Cowboys won last night in Jerrys world no less

54F and partly cloudy @ 06:00 ... sunny with a high of 78F predicted for today ... then rain tomorrow morning between 07:00 and 10:00 then clear ... but with cooler temps.

Supposed to be nice for a couple days after that, then rain Thursday night and Friday, then a big cool down ... with highs only the upper 50's for a couple days ... then low 60's ...

Managed to remove the lead anchors for the vise stand out of the floor without destroying them ... then patched the holes with some patching cement that has been up in the shed for probably 35 years or more. Drilled four new holes and got the vise stand bolted down with the old anchors. New location will be much better ... much more light ... closer to electrical outlets and right next to the small welding table.

Spent the rest of the night grinding ... mostly bevels ... not my favorite activity.

Did manage to get three of the five upper jaw teeth tacked onto the pipe they will be welded to:

Pieces/parts ...

IMG_1614.jpg

Not quite all of them tho ... have six pieces for the grapple - plus three more for another project (tree/shrub bucket) - that I need to cut out of the plate from the table ...

I'll lose 30" off the length of the table ... which is actually fine ... 4' x 5 1/2' should be plenty big enough for most things I'll be tackling, and it means more available space to work on a vehicle or equipment.

Well the coffee is done ... and I think I hear the angle grinder calling me ...

Free coffee today. 48ー with light fog this morning. Heading to 76ー with a mix of sun and clouds. Still a little to warm to start on fall projects. But I am ready with all the filters and oil. Chain Saw has a sharp chain. Chipper has sharp blades and full of gas. Tractor has grapple bucket on and full of fuel. Trac-Vac is fueled up. Time for fall to start. Looks like I will have to sit back and enjoy the great weather.
Very well done

I am 2/10ths of an hour away from needing to do the 1600 hour service on the B2910 ... and no place close to having the other stuff serviced and ready to go for fall/winter ... :D

Good morning, 55F mand foggy here this morning with a high today of 75F. Going car shopping after work, our Intrepid is a 2001 and the body is starting to go. Will pass the car down to youngest son, just needs it to drive back and forth to work.

Kyle,
this might be just like that old adage that advice not requested is often not appreciated.
but in for a penny...
I wouldn't worry about market value at that level; more concerned over total cost to make it a reliable runner.
I mean, what can you buy used for three grand anyway? Something else with high miles...
only you know what else has been replaced on it. If trans, shocks, muffler, cooling and front end have been rebuilt, maybe investing more in the engine is a good idea.

I ran into this a number of times when I did family financial planning. Usually one spouse wanted to get rid of a car when the other one
wanted to fix it up. Not having a car payment and paying cash for repairs so that you remain debt free is a real motivator.
One might always ask oneself, is it better to buy a used Toyota or Honda? If one is reinvesting in a daily runner for a longer commute that gets 20 mpg, then alternatively choosing a 40mpg diesel Cruze or VW Golf or any number of affordable hybrids for longer commutes would justify the cost in order to lower overall cost of operation.

but then of course you get down to the bottom line which has to include whether you like the car, whether you need a full size car,
or is it time to sell it for salvage. An eleven year old Impala ought to go 300K miles if maintained. Particularly a small block V8. Assuming the Impala had the V6 that was the Buick clone, it was supposed to be a very durable motor also. So if you rebuild them, they should last a long time.
Or donate it for a possible tax credit. I hope this helps somehow so you consider all the alternatives.

now back to regular programming.
Thanks Drew. Our thoughts run parallel. :) The rest of the car is good, but the tranny may need some new servo dealyboppers soon. It does have 293K miles. I had just rejuvenated the front end with new A arms, strut shocks, brakes, cv joints, bushings, etc. It rode like a new car until the weird noise in the engine.

59 this morning headed to 85. Maybe I should just copy and paste this each day as it's the forecast for the whole week. Rain what's rain. Haven't seen that stuff in a few weeks so we are starting to get dry. Wouldn't quit all summer now can't even catch a shower.

All you guys that are ready for fall. Good for you. I'll be ready about December. Or when ever the first snow flies. But I also don't bother with leaves or anything as you need mature trees in your yard for that. Finally did plant some trees in yard this year. Besides the wind blows them over the hill into the pasture.
Hope guy gets here this morning to fix the tractor tire.
Good day all.

Good Morning. 0710, light rain, 72F with 96% humidity. Forecast high of 78F with 80% chance of rain, and a low of 68F.

Since today is Monday I will be riding the bike only halfway to nowhere, but I will be picking up heavy things and putting them back down.

Hope everyone has a good one.

Larro

Almost forgot, A small but fun factoid, 52 years ago.
On Sep 26, 1962, the first episode of the Beverly Hillbillies aired. My 64 year old brother tells me it was ALL the talk at school the following morning. I miss Buddy Ebsen, He was a great actor. I watched the 1st episode on youtube to reinvigorate. LOL,

They still are shown on TVLand channel 304 for you DirecTV folks.

Good morning all. 55F and sunny, forecast for 85F sunny and light breeze. 2 more day in the mid 80's then the rest of the 10 day is in the 70's for highs. Working on repairs to a culvert, bike ride and play practice today.

/ Good morning!!!! #25,097
Kyle did you trace the noise back to the engine block as opposed to on of the engine accessories?

/ Good morning!!!! #25,098
Good late morning boys. Whew, it takes me a loooong time to get going these days, fibromyalgia mess, etc. Wake up early, but just canno' get going. Okay, yes, back to regularly scheduled program. High 60s going to high 80s today, still mighty hot! I still do better in summer than winter.

Think I'll go over to old Ed's gunsmith shop to see if he has any more local honey.

Morning (just barely) Y'all!

I got a nice PM checking in to see if I was still alive and I am happy to report I have not been selected for duty pushing up Daiseys yet...

I was shocked to see #1 I was 500 posts behind on this thread (I just spent an hour skimming to catch up a bit) and #2 that it had been 8 days since I last posted. JD Green would say I've become a slacker as a post-*****...

My life is mostly unchanged. I'm trying to b!tch less and be happy more, I've been busy with the job search and some minor projects. My right elbow, bicep and shoulder are still VERY sore from limbing with a 20" FarmBoss like 3 weeks ago... might be tennis elbow, not sure...

I'm hosting a birthday bonfire party for a very good friend this coming Saturday and the big pile is not really finished because I can't saw right now (and not for the last 3 weekends either)... But the little pile is ready to rock.

I will try not to be a stranger, I really appreciate my TBN brothers and the supportive environment here.

Be well & God Bless all of you,
David

David/MF, nice to hear from you. the only daisies you want are on your countertop.

it's remarkable how easy a big heavy piece of equipment going through sandy soil can make it look so simple.
Driveway prep this week, paving end of week or early next week.
Need to get it in before the big snows.

just seeing if you were paying attention....:D
