4F headed to -9F overnight. 13F today and sunny but the wind was fairly stiff all day.

Went out mid-day and cleared the drifts in the driveway. Most stretches were deep enough to need the blower. There is less snow on the roof than yesterday, that's one good thing about the wind. I can see all the seams in the standing seam roofing now.

Good luck across the mid-south with the ice and snow. It's all Drew's fault bringing those trees home.

Congrats murph.

Ended up with a foot of snow. Have now graded my drive and road out to the state highway twice today. Wind has laid. Need to touch up my drive and grade the parking lot tomorrow. Here's a picture of the drive if it will load. Graded everything with a back blade.

Thanks guys it sure is nice to see water filling my sink. No more melting snow on the wood burner. Still putting heat in the garage. Need to get a new pressure gauge and heat tape tomorrow.

Glad to hear you got water! We have not had much for winter in the last two years. I haven't even used my snowblower for two years. It was like 55° today, we should have snow on the ground but we don't.

36˚ windy, cold, winters back. The WBS is cranking out the heat.

1F @ 02:00 ... kinda chilly out there ...

Just came down from the shop. Looks like it was in the nick of time ... temp in the house is currently 59F ... and the only thing left in the wood furnace was a huge bed of coals. Loaded it up and got it hummin' ...

Like someone else said: It's eatin' wood like it was candy.

Earlier today it appeared that the small Dayton blower on the wood furnace had failed. I tried bypassing thermostatic switch that controls it and nada ...

Then I pulled it off and took it upstairs as I was going to take it up to the shop and replace the motor with a spare I have. Decided to plug it into an outlet and it spun up. Took it back downstairs and reinstalled it and wired it up ... nada ...

It was The 'Cake that finally made the call: What about the circuit breaker ?

Doh ...

Earlier in the day I had tried to fire up the air compressor in the garage to pump up a low tire ... it stalled ... and apparently tripped the breaker.

The 'Cake earned bonus points today.

I hope you are documenting all these little forest fires you have to put out. It seems every time you go to do something you have to fix something else first. Why did the compressor trip the breaker?

Cats are very much individuals ...

With the one cat it's THE HAND - she can never get enough. With her brother, it's THE LAP ... especially if said LAP is in close proximity to a heating appliance.

Try to load or otherwise tend the wood furnace and it's like he has radar ... he could be stone-cold sound asleep at the other end of the house and if the door to the furnace is opened he'll be there inside of 60 seconds ... usually meowing if the lap is not made immediately available.

If any petting occurs while in this state of toasted comfort, the certain result is massive amounts of drool. You'd think he'd died and gone to Cat Heaven.

Judging from the strings of slobber, apparently I have a St. Bernard type of cat ...

Perhaps that's because I often write about Life's little travails (aka adventures) ...

Why did the compressor trip the breaker?

I'm guessin' because that compressor is in the (unheated) garage ... and it's only a couple of degrees F out ...

But it could be because it's 30+ years old ... and it was just it's time ...
