. Drew, I'll give you a implement if you send me a week of 70 degree weather.

hmmm, lets's see, for that nice three point chipper, I might get you a cheap flight to the Keys, a week in the Fleabite Motel, and be way ahead of the game. I bet right now Murph you would sleep on the beach quite happily. 90 degree water lapping at your toes...

Mostly, you feeling better?

Drew, we quit having starling problems around here, wish I knew why , I'd tell you they are noisy
Do you have any owls nearby?

no owls that I have seen, yet, but oh yes, hundreds of those birds up in the treeline making a huge racket, like every bird is trying to out talk the next one. sounds like a Hitchcock movie...

I now have ice dams that are leaking into the house. I tossed some salt pucks up on the roof. Its supposed to get up to 40 with rain tomorrow. Any other ideas?
Drew that sounds like a winner to me right now. This winter has been a rough on on us.

no joy on my fruit tree holes. Worse today, water is almost up to the top of the holes.
Sure would like to ship some of this to California...
hmmm, a small gas powered trash pump could suck the water out for long enough to get the trees planted and tamped in
with solid earth, before the water reinfiltrated. Maybe it's not good to fool Mother Nature...but I need to get them planted.
the water level has to go down...
I have some dc pumps I could jury rig but they'd clog in a heartbeat. Or maybe I just go really simple and get a slightly smaller bucket and let my helper bucket the water out. Faster, faster! ;)

There is a reason they call this Lowlands...sure doesn't take much for the water to get high.

this isn't what you want to hear, perhaps...but water damage from those ice dams is covered under a form HO3 All Risks Homeowners form and not the HO2 Broad Form policy. Subject to your hefty deductible.
Anyone North of the Mason Dixon line should consider the broader homeowner policy for just this reason, particularly in homes susceptible to leaking from roof/gutter backup.

For those wondering where the birds are, the ones around my place started to show up today. None for a long time and today I saw about 15 around the house.

The other day you mentioned planting Dogwood trees. The can not take hardly any water on their roots. You will need to pick one of your higher spots for them. And adding sand to the hole wouldn't hurt either.
