Thanks Larro. One of the biggest kicks I got out of him was since I farmed he would ask me what corn prices were. A few years ago they were less than $2. He would say you know what I sold corn for in the 40's and 50's. $2. Now I didn't make the bushels but I got $2. When he started his really good ground was making less than 50 bushels. After commercial fertilizer and hybrid seed corn he got up to about 125. Now that ground makes 200+.

That is like when Mamma talks about $.25 gas. $2 in 1940 is $33.54 today. {1945 is $26.38, 1950 is $19.89} Modern production has brought prices down for sure.

kyle, I got my sails from AOSOM
Object moved

Even with high winds they never tore and lasted all summer. In the real high wind my new bunge cords broke. I took them down in the fall.

Around a holiday they usually have a sale.

When I picked up my post I also bought tops and these hook loops to weld on.

Farmer sorry for your loss, 102 is a good life though.
My fathers parents died before I was born but I had a great grandmother on my moms side and her mom and dad my grandparents. Both my dad and father in law passed before my children were born, they were both 60.

Gary that kitchen looks nice, all I have to do for mine is a backsplash, floor was put in a few weeks ago.

3 beer night.

The stars are bright.

The fire pit was warm.

The beer was cold.

Perfect end to a long day.

Last night I put my torch set in the bed of the truck and hooked up the tandem axle trailer.

Got up early, drove to get oil field pipe, started cutting with O/A torch, and then it started raining. I kept cutting even though I was getting wetter by the moment. Finished cutting 4 pipes and decided to put on a rain pancho that I (at the last second), had thrown in the truck. Not because it was going to rain, but because it was red and I wanted something red to hang onto the pipe that extended beyond the back edge of the trailer. It kept on raining as I cut 5 more pipes, and then the pipe yard got muddy. My boots had about an inch of tan colored caliche mud on the bottom of them. I loaded and tied down the pipe fairly well and got on my way. Had to hurry to get daughter to a dental appointment. I was soaked, muddy and greasy. Got changed and rushed to the dental appt 25 miles south of here. All went well.

Came home, watched Astros beat Rangers (mostly with eyelids closed), then I woke up and decided that I needed some tractor time. My winter/spring weeds are knee high or higher. After mowing about 6 acres, I decided to burn some of my excess dead wood/brush. Started a small fire and continued bush hogging another 4 acres. Got done around 9 pm. Got me a bud light lime and it went down fast. Then a 2nd. Next thing I know the wife brought me another to join me for a fire side chat. Holding my feet to the fire, to keep them warm, we made some plans for tomorrow. I will sneak off at sunrise to drive tractor 2 miles to town for diesel.

Our post oak trees have these worms that hang by a single strand of web. When something comes by, they drop onto it and attempt to suck some blood. Half the time bush hogging, you are knocking green worms out of your way to keep them off of you. Need to mow another 15 acres.
Good night.

43 right now...high of 50 today.
I'm not normally up this early on a weekend day, but wifey is flying out with her sister to Florida this morning. We've got to leave here at no later than 0530. My step-daughter is taking her to the sister's house....I'm up to make sure they get off on time.
My main chore of today is to get tires for the truck. The appointment is at 0900 in West Lebanon, NH. After that...depends.

Good morning.
Our mini heat wave is over. Surprising how little time it takes to forget what it is like to have ears nipped by a cold wet wind. I had my reminder this morning.

Finally introduced K32 to the sticky black stuff it was actually bought for .
Only takes a very light squeeze to get the lithium flowing. Think K32 is going to be a keeper.
No more pictures, I'll leave it now to wngsprd's imagination.

Farmer : It still hurts when someone you have known and loved for a lifetime passes away, even though you know they had more years than most to enjoy life. I hope you and your family will be reliving some good memories in the days to come.

68 degrees in on and off showers, likely to continue for a little bit this morning, much less rain than expected, .12 inches so far. Next precip event forecast is for Tuesday, over an inch of rain.

Not sure if I'm going to do some planting today or just cool it. I weedwacked for almost three hours yesterday, did every bit of my fencing with my new Echo string trimmer, a 266T, and it did fine. Rarely broke the line and bump fed properly. Now I have to go do wash and clean the utility room floor where I dropped my encrusted clothes before coming into the house. Doesn't seem to be a way to wack weeds without wearing half of it.

fence installers got the posts in concrete, going out this morning to inspect and take pics.
Have a nice weekend guys.

42F. Near 50 today and I see some holes in the clouds. Near 60F tomorrow and 70F on Monday! That will burn some snow down.

Think I'll do some garage puttering today.
