Good morning!!!!

just got back from successfully buying a new truck, got a trade value 2k over what I thought I would get (and only 5K less than I paid for the truck...). Thankfully I kept my mouth shut and left them offer a price first. I knew the salesman, he was fine, and I gave him 100 bucks on the side since I know he gets paid about that much for the whole thing. Within five minutes the F&I guy shows up and announces they just found another $2500 factory incentive...how remarkably coincidental. ;) Nothing like greasing the wheels of commerce... 2015 Laramie, just like what I had, inside is identical, except no engine brake of course, Hemi ran nicely and sounded good winding out. Very quiet truck with the gas engine and rode quite nicely with the air bag suspension. No ram boxes but other than that, they had exactly what I wanted on their lot, in a super dark black green with the tan/brown interior. Truck looks black until the sun hits it on an angle and then one can see a little green. And it did not have a sunroof which I didn't want anyway.
All good. Swapped out the awful oem white letter Goodyear RSA tires for blackwall Michelins, that sure wasn't cheap but well worth it, and ordered a hard tri fold tonneau cover. should pick it up next Wednesday.

had lunch on the way home at the local greasy spoon, place was filled with farmers covered in dirt. Yakked with one, they were concerned for up to five inches of rain getting dumped on us. The forecast still shows only an inch but who knows.

I should be headed to the barn to keep stapling insulation but feeling a bit lazy at the moment. I'll measure the workshop next trip down there. Kinda warm and sticky out; the ac in the house feels good...

looking at the radar, first bands of rain starting to rotate in from the East. My grass seed wants every bit of it.
now to get motivated to go out and sweat and itch. Hmmm, maybe a nap. ;)

Congrats on the new truck Drew.

Congrats Drew.

I shred about 6 or 7 acres yesterday. Started with the 4310 5' weed eater, and finished the last 2 acres with the 5420 6' cutter. I wish I had a 10 foot cutter but I already don't like working on the single blade cutters enough. We have just enough rocks to dull your new blades in a day. :(

The county crew happened to be doing the ditches and that saved me some time.

Congrats, Drew, sounds like a good deal all around.

Congrats on the truck, Drew.

Just spent the entire day mowing, weedeating and shredding. A ton with the tractor and mowing deck, and a ton of mowing with the walk behind in the areas that needed a finished look. All told, about 9 hours of mowing. Wiped out. The pedometer says I walked about 14.5 miles today.

Dave, last year I took two swings with the splitting maul and decided to buy a gas powered splitter. Still need an ibuprofen at the end of the day, but I get a whole lot of wood split ;)

I can't do that. Drew is putting us all to shame while wearing a brace or two. I can't sissy out of splitting 1-1/2 cords of easy to split wood. I did work through my pain picking up rocks this afternoon. I think I'll go soak in the tub soon.

Got word from my brother this afternoon that Mom fell and broke her arm today. Gaaa! Surgery is planned for tomorrow. At age 88, her bones just shatter into pieces. She says she was standing on a low stool to better see the thermostat. Mom's shrunk down to about 4'-9" I think. Maybe I can lower the thermostat or replace it with a remote control model; I didn't know she was using a stool for that. Well, there's no doubt other things I don't know--by design.

Dave, sorry about your Mom. Hope she mends without complications.

thanks guys. I bought too much truck last time and think I got it right this time.

watching the radar, that storm is about to drench Wilmington NC and hit here tomorrow.

and yet I was out watering newly planted trees this afternoon. Quarter inch of rain does nothing for them and I saw a few
getting some brown spots. All well watered now. Checked on the bunnies, still under there. I would have thought they would have exited by now. Well the strawberry is gone, and most of the celery bits, and about half the carrots.
which reminds me...bowl of ice cream would hit the spot right now.

Best of luck with that but be thankful you have had her so long. I lost my own mother when she was fifty and I was twenty two. I can only imagine the valuable advise and council she would have given me if she had survived another thirty to forty years.

Sorry to hear about your mother, D. Hope she recovers quickly. Best wishes to her and all of those near and dear.
