Good Morning. 1150, sunny, 90F {100F heat index} with 57% humidity. Forecast high of 92F with 20% chance of showers today, and a low of 72F tonight. We got out and picked the garden before work, and it was already hot at 0745. Days like today make me thankful I work indoors. Speaking of work, I have a family reunion and a beauty pageant today. I like one of those events much more than the other.

The plan was to watch racing in the afternoon and round ball tonight. But looking at Brooklyn, Michigan (49230) Conditions & Forecast | Weather Underground the racing might be as late as the hoops. At least they have lights at MIS.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday,

Larro

You're supposed to clean mower decks? My dad always made me do it, but since I've been on my own I've never bothered. Bought a Craftsman push mower new twenty years ago and it still works fine. There is some grass stuck to the deck, but not enough to restrict the catcher bag or blade rotation. What am I missing (besides a mess cleaning it every time I use it)?

Here in Florida you have to start early, when the grass is still wet with dew, or you just can't stand the heat. The dust and wet grass sticks, then dries out to make adobe bricks under the mower. A small push mower can pick up 5-10 pounds in a couple of hours cutting, while a 6' RFM can easily pick up 25-50 pounds. If you don't clean it after each use you will soon be getting out the pressure washer just to make room for the blades to turn. I'm no aerodynamics expert, but I'm guessing the mower deck is designed for optimal discharge without most of that extra room under there taken up with mud/grass.

Good afternoon here from North central Arkansas...82ー with scattered storms.

I don't mow with dew, it doesn't get that hot here. I did try to mow through a sprinkle recently that turned into rain, that never helps.

I think what RNG may be missing is juicy green grass week after week?

It was a work day so up at 5, I am starting to hate working Sunday's! Home at 3:30 then 2 1/2 hrs of seat time cutting the grass before the predicted range the next few days.
Just having a cup of coffee and relaxing on TBN before thinking of hitting the hay to start all over tomorrow.

62 and rain right now...looks like 60 and rain most of the day.
I did get all the mowing and trimming done yesterday. Downside is the battery in my zero-turn won't take a charge. I can jump it though...looks like a battery coming soon (this week)

Predictions are for a dry week ahead. My wife has a good book ready to test the new patio furniture if the delivery truck arrives as promised. She may need to wrap up to keep warm as it is only going to reach 14C/57F by noon.

RS, the local manufacturer (PBM)[/URL] uses ShurFlo and FloJet pumps. Never heard of either one, but then I've very little experience with this stuff. I plan on taking the old pump/motor down to them on Monday to see if they have anything close that could be made to work. The pump has never given problems, nor the motor up till now, and both are about four years old. I'd have a go at fixing the motor, but the end cap is crimped on and not made to be serviced. If I can't find a replacement pump/motor, it's new sprayer time, as the yellow star thistle is starting to bloom. If given the chance to go to seed, I'll lose even more ground to it next year.

Most of the small sprayers I have seen have Shurflo pumps in them. They make a lot of low cost pumps that seem to be fair value for money for light use.

67 now and we are suppose to hit 100 today. We seem to be running 15 degrees hotter this year than average, wouldn't be as bad if we had normal rainfall, but that is WAY below average. I see us being in a drought by July. Off to work today, meeting my tile setter and carpet installer.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 65° with partly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 80° with more thunderstorms thought out the day. Rain all day yesterday. 1" of rain.
Need to cut lawn today. It will be wet. Seems I cut lawn about 75% of the time when it is wet. Never clean under the deck. My 3 mowers are over 10 years old.
DABGST, I sure do not miss those 7 day weeks since I retired. Always seemed like they lasted months.
Good Morning All.
