Good morning!!!!

Got home from hunting in southeast Virginia today and decided to mow the grass (yep, never mowed on December 11 before). Was just about finishing up a few minutes ago and decided to turn the ignition switch back one click so the lights would come on...and the whole mower just died. No juice even to the hour meter LCD display.

I wonder if the ignition switch went bad. Was getting too dark to see if any loose wires, so I left it over by the pecan trees. I guess I'll go search the John Deere posts (L 130, 11 years old).

New tractor showed up about 3pm. Just shut it off. Dark now so pictures will have to be gotten tomorrow. I also mowed my yard today with the new finish mower and put out hay. Had forgotten how nice headlights are. Only tractor on the place with lights.

farmer2009, will be looking forward to seeing the new tractor pics.

$3,000 - I think I'll wait till spring to see if I need to cut down 2 more oaks by the paver drive - they were starting to die before the fall rains and I'm unsure if they will survive.
I think If I let the one by the tractor shed fall there will only be about $500 in damages to the roof and maybe a few boards at the most. here is a pic of my situation.

This looks like a Craig's List free firewood situation.

Good morning! 66˚ cloudy heading to 77˚.

I have a huge, huge, huge oak tree (4' diameter) that is over my tractor shed and lean-to. It has died. It is a project that a professional with a boom will have to do or I'll let it rot and fall and repair the damage. Anyone have any idea what a tree professional would charge. I don't want too much of a shock before I call them, it's not good for the heart.
I have found that finding when slow time is for tree maintenance. Then start looking for quotes. I have gotten trees taken down using that approach that saved 1000 of dollars. But in your area there may not be a slow time.

Don. That sure looks like it would do more than $500 in damages. Trees that large are expensive to get taken down. Around here an 18" tree would be a $500 tree. As I think that's what my grandfather paid a year or so ago for one to be taken down. One fall direction was a building and the other was a power line. Canopy was larger than the spread of the line and shop. Crew had a climber and a bucket truck. Took a couple hours to remove.

Do you know someone with a skidder or logging winch? Maybe they would help you pull it.

Another pretty day, mid 60's and little wind. Supposed to be this way for days, only even warmer over the weekend.
