Late start to house looking. But I did get a couple three hours in working on the old tree stuff.

oh ye of waaaaay too much faith...
long way to go, though should be a runner.
Going to be a while before she's a looker.

And I've got some serious fiberglass work to do. going to have to make some kind of curved form to back the fiberglass.
Just a tad too big for bondo. And of course I have vast experience with layering fiberglass. Not.
Whoever owned this little garden tractor once upon a time must have loved to slam the hood. Definitely hard on the fiberglass...back in the late 60's fiberglass was the new rage. They should have kept the dash metal...

I airblasted it today and tomorrow will start with degreaser and clean it top to bottom. That will take a while as I've got to get the generator off, yes it's a motor generator not alternator and it starts the tractor too. And I'm sure I'll take another engine shroud, or two...off. The engine was allegedly rebuilt just before I bought it, by a shop, and should be ok. And it ran fine when I got it. But a lot of cosmetic stuff to do, including the hood which looks like someone stuck a Bowie knife through the side of it in several places, one where subsequent repair welding was just a follow on disaster. But I got my tires from ME Miller, actually same rears as on the Gravely. If this wasn't going to be a lawn queen I would have gone with bigger tires in the front; these are the original skinnies.

This is going to be a water cart puller. No mud on this one when I'm done...

Drew, don't let the fiberglass intimidate you. The first kayak I made out of wood took the longest because I procrastinated on the fiberglass. Turns out it was the easiest of all. Granted I worked with 4oz sheets and epoxy, but you could do the same if you are going to paint it. Hmmm, you could always make a wood strip hood!

Drew, do yourself a favor and get some sealer into the cracks between those pavers before seeds take root and give you a real challenge. DAMHIKT... :duh:

30 right now...high will be 34 today...not too bad.
I need to wash all the accumulated salt off the truck. Might be a bit chilly today for that though...but it's supposed to hit 45 tomorrow.

Spent the last two days, as y'all know, in another GKN facility in Connecticut for some training.

Glad to be home...our boxer, Bella, was happy to see me walk through the door last night too! If you know boxer dogs...they just can't decide if they want their ears or tail bones scratched, so they bend as much as they can to get both parts scratched simultaneously while licky, licky, licky...kissy, kissy, kissy! She was excited to say the least!

I shouldn't be up this early on a weekend!!

BTW, since I brought up dogs...our girl came up with some New Year's resolutions:

I've adopted 2, 8 and 11 myself...

Now I just got the sand down yesterday...yes, when it's all done settling, I'll do that.

A chilly 26 going to mid 50's today.
And it looks like I'm going to get some exercise this morning because a neighbor with two teenage boys called last night, I'd spoken with him before, nice guy, works for the hvac company that does my house and said if I was still interested his two sons could work this morning. Great, huge amount of raking needs to be done, sticks picked up, so hopefully these kids will work out better than the young folks I have hired before. The fathers says they know how to work and take instructions.
Marvelous. But with new workers I have to be on top of them and they want to start at 8am (kid's don't...father is off to work this morning) and it's downright cold out there. Once the sun comes up it should be a nice clear bright day.

need to get replacement attachment screws for the carb housing on that CC. 10x32x1/4. TSC had nothing that short. Genuine Kohler part at 8 bucks a screw. Ha....$1.79 a piece online, much less in quantity, but if I buy ten of them, then what...well, more spares. Ten is cheaper than alacarte one or two...
going to try the Kubota dealer and one of the other lawn mower places in town. Hopefully they will have a drawer of them.
