Good Morning! 43F @ 7:00 AM. Cloudy with a few showers. High 51F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

Much to my surprise and delight we got almost 1.2" yesterday, a little over what was predicted. A little bit fell in the morning, but the clouds closed in by late afternoon and a steady drizzle started. A few heavier showers passed through, and by midnight that had made up almost 3/4". Not much due in today, and it looks like the only chance for more is Tuesday and that's only a shower. Then clear again at least through next weekend.

When I was in town Thursday I swung by a butcher shop that came highly recommended for its bratwurst. I ended up with packages of their "fresh" and smoked brats, the fresh ones frozen. The gal there said that's the only way that they can keep the fresh ones fresh. :confused2: Anyway, I cooked one each on the BBQ last night for dinner, and they were both delicious. German motorcycles and brats go hand in hand, and I think I know just what'll be on the lunch menu for the wrench fest I'm hosting here in April.

The brats were accompanied by a nice red table wine called Ménage à Trois, a blend of mostly Zinfandel with some Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Very nice berry flavor, even jammy, very smooth and no sign of that typical Zinfandel tannin bite. I had a bottle the week before and Thursday brought home a case. It's so rare to find a wine with this much flavor at $8, I just might have to bring home another case next week. :D

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

Smelled up the house cooking bacon...Made me some breakfast tacos with wheat tortillas, eggs, bacon and picante sauce.

Wifey made me DECAF Southern Pecan coffee....yummy

Still cool here, but supposedly going to almost 80F! Holy cow! Windy though.

My 10 year old daughter had found an old national geographic article on California Sequoia trees and became smitten. My mother in law had a fallen Sequoia cone she had found on a trip to the park with the General Sherman tree from back in the 80's. It is longer than a football by half again and about the same diameter. Huge compared to our "pine" cones. She loaned it to my daughter for a show and tell up at her school and it was a big hit with all the kids. Now I have to figure out a way to take the kids on a trip to some of the sequoia forests in California. My wife actually lived in Bakersfield until she was 11, her dad worked the oilfields back in the 80's.

RNG, that wrench fest sounds fun. Will any wrenching get done? Or perhaps some good ole bench racing? Might have to see if any of that wine made it this far east.

Ron, now that your pup knows all those new tricks, now the onus is on TxDon to teach whipper to run through those trials. :)

I need to go down to the local auto parts to get a piece of 1 1/4" ID hose to finish the gas tank repair on the van. They had to replenish their stock and said they would have it this AM.

Y'all have a fine day.

Thought I had found a buyer for my old 4 wheel drive 3 ton dumper truck this morning, but turned out not to be. The ancient hand crank diesel engine did not want to be faithful to a new owner. A tow start from the old grey fergie finally got it running. Even then it was low on power and high on black smoke, with a few diesel flavoured bubbles coming out of a hole in the exhaust.

I have just come in after trying to finish a bit of fencing before the light failed. Instead I failed before the light, with my fingers so cold I was finding it difficult to hold the staples. A flurry of snow which quickly turned to rain finally persuaded me the finishing can be saved for some other day.

txdon, as others said, humming would be the starter motor still spinning. Some relays not so easy to dismantle, but still easy to check where fault is if it's still humming when you stop and disconnect battery - a multimeter on resistance range will then show 0 Ohms across the contacts of a stuck in failed relay or switch.

Got my generator running, may not of had enough gas in it. Sprayed a little carb cleaner in the carb and it took off ok.

37 this morning and made it to 67 today.

Chicken coops are ready for feed which I don't have any of currently. Hopefully it will be here by Monday. Made a run to the Honda dealer today as I broke a hand brake lever yesterday. Needed some oil and filters anyways. Washed the shutters on the chicken barns, the cruster, washer, 2 tractors and stock trailer today.

got the house stocked up in wood pellets for 2 more weeks. Also put new air filter in one vehicle. My electronic lock on my barn broke, put a new one on. Took the old one apart, a few pieces were loose inside. put it all back together but the little motor sometimes won't work, sometime it will. Also, I think there has to be a spring missing, thing is I can't find the spring and there was pretty much no way for it to come out before I took the lock apart.

It got to 45 today, it got most of the snow. Need to look at my truck, I got stuck this morning, dragged it out with the Kubota. But now the brakes on the truck are spongy, I must has done something with the tow strap.

Go help a neighbor, screw up your truck. But the are good neighbors.
