Good morning!!!!

A very tired Good Morning from me today, following a night disturbed by the wind (not generated by me !). I first realised the predicted gale had arrived when I woke at 2:30 to find my wife putting tissues in her ears to try and drown out the sound of the wind whipping round the roof and rattling everything it could persuade to move. Eventually drifted back to sleep, then the dog woke me at 4:00am by barking and howling at all the commotion outside. No chance of a nap this morning, though I'll be lucky if I manage to stay awake until the sun has reached David(Sodomo).

The wind's been brutal here for the past three days. 30-40mph steady, with gusts to 50-60mph. Ripped heck out of the tarp over my firewood, pretty much lost coverage over the last row of pallets. I was out this morning fastening it all back down, what was left anyway. Used 100' of rope, and I could use another 100'. My buddy suggested that when we first put the tarp on, but I foolishly poo pooed the idea. Now I get to call him and tell him I should listen to my elders.

Today I'm going around the back porch and side yards looking for things that clang in the wind. There's an electric panel on the office trailer that I know is loose, but there's also something going on with the steel porch cover right out side the master bedroom. Then there's the hanger for the hummingbird feeder that screeches ever so quietly, except when I'm trying to sleep. And my favorite: The screen for the sliding glass door rattles like crazy, too. I've looked at it before but there's no obvious solution, but maybe something will jump out today.:confused2:

Our snow is gone. No sun, but the air is warmer. Nothing really done today, but did get a little paperwork done.

Be safe!

Got the canopy installed today.

Picture taken before I worked on cow pin. Now if I took a picture of the tractor you guys would be complaining about the odder. :).

41 right now...high 40's and rain today.
Cleared the slush and ice off the walks and drive yesterday. A pin came out of one of the FEL cylinder links/pivots. Then, I found out that the bucket cylinders had gone bad (retracted when the pin fell out). So, there's my weekend job...pull the cylinder and get it repacked (if possible). An expense I really don't need right now...

Good morning. Wind dropped enough to get a great sleep last night. Kyle, it's rare for me to make it through the night too, a cool bedroom and being dog tired help me to miss out on the view of the moonlit fields in the early hours.

Today's weather forecast brought back memories of a poem from schooldays:

The north wind doth blow,
And we shall have snow,
And what will poor robin do then?
Poor thing.

He'll sit in a barn,
And keep himself warm,
With his head tucked under his wing,
Poor thing.

I will retreat to the barn too when the white stuff comes, with a K32 grease gun tucked under my arm.

Coffee finished brewing, I have my two cups and put the rest into a giant mug properly called
Big Bubba. Hey, I am in the South....;)

Farmer, I can smell that tractor from here. TSC has some new lilac powerwash solution on sale...:D

one more drive today down most of Florida and then I get to sit for a couple of days.

52 going to 67...all snow is gone except the shadiest areas.

RNG, hang in there with that rough weather. Heard on the news this morning of 100 feet of snow in some places in the Sierras.

Haircut today, then over to Toyota dealer to get free tire rotation, then gym, then home to enjoy the nice temps with some outside chores.

Last couple of warm days southern banks are now bare ground :) but the dirt roads are icy cause number of cars vs snow banks. :confused2:

Enjoy the day all.

52 balmy degrees out here right now.

Well signed off on the paperwork to kill the F150 from my books. I think I walked away with 12 dollars, well actually 2 since the POA was 10 bucks. She was a sweet ride, and someone is going to have to get another truck.

Man, I hate vehicles at the moment. With kids all over the place and still in school I feel obligated to get them decent rides. Maybe I should not be, but having a vehicle means job opportunities for them. Then there is me and the SO. I still have a ranger with a bad transmission. Maybe time to get rid of that ride too. Sheesh, happy new year.

Anyway, looks like maul time today. I must say, I am starting to buff out again with all this weight swinging.

Have a great day all, be safe.

5 I must say, I am starting to buff out again with all this weight swinging.

let me be the first to ask... so Riptides, are you getting ripped?
I envy your ability to swing that weight and feel better, not worse, when you are done.
I remember those days.

cars...big expense. The good news is that the current safety nannies are now coming down into modestly
priced cars. So while your loving daughter is stabbing away at her smart phone while the light goes red in front of her, the car will literally slam on the brakes and at least wake her up to use the brakes herself. I'm a believer now that I've seen this stuff work in my Subaru. A guy cut right across me so close my brakes went on before my foot could get there, though it was on its way. I took it over from there, the fool cut across active lanes of traffic to get into a shopping center. And if you are distracted, and I genuinely believe most young drivers are, they are wired into their phones, and they sure are not going to pull over to take the call.

all of this is nice but most families can't afford to buy new cars for all their kids. No one ever gave me a car...
I think my younger sister wheedled one out of my father, an old Bug, later on but the three boys had to earn and support their own cars. So...you want reliability, safety, 4 doors, utility, and economy. She wants a Camaro convertible in yellow pretty please Dad? this has been going on for a very long time I think.

time to get moving, off to Ft. Lauderdale, the boating capitol of the world and where I worked for three years many years ago as a yacht broker. A peon among the very rich. At least I get to see oodles of cool cars here. Every exotic car made plays in this area, like our version of Dubai.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 50° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 67° with partial sunshine. Taking wife to another doctor appointment. Hope to catch some patio time.
Drew, planes, trains , cars and trucks are the most annoying part of RVing. Need to add emergency vehicle sirens.
Riptides, kids and cars will keep you in the poorhouse.
Farmer, :censored:
Good Morning All.

Well Good Morning!! We have reached our forecast high for the day. 19F and more snow on the way. At least it will be a tiny bit dryer than the snot I had to work with yesterday. 6 hours to do a 3 hour job, slipping and sliding around. Got so peed off that when I got back to the house I ordered tire chains all the way around. I'll fix that slipping and sliding crap!
Have a good day all.

cars...big expense. The good news is that the current safety nannies are now coming down into modestly
priced cars.

Correct me if I'm wrong but a moderately priced car for a teen is under 25K the vehicles with eyesight, lane departure, auto brake, adaptive cruise control etc. are on the top of the line models which are over 30K.

So a good question for the day, thanks to riptides, what is a moderately priced car for a teen and as a parent are you obligated to buy a top of the line model with all the safety devices for their protection?
If you don't, does that make you a bad parent?

Freezing rain here. Ugly. Nice day to be retired... Of course, every day retired is good!

44°F and cloudy this morning, going "up" to 25° as the day progresses. The weather geniuses are pushing back the start of the pending Ice Storm of Doom to Friday afternoon now.

Wife went to Home Depot (grumble, mumble) yesterday and bought paint. She's starting on the ceilings today.
Deafening silence still from Terminex.
