These Cyclobenzaprine Hcl Tabs for my shoulder seem effective. Doc warned me about operating machinery or playing with knives, sure seems effective in inducing a nap :) think I'll try half a tab next dose.

Sodamo, you reminded me of a game that we played as kids called "stretch", where we took it in turns to throw a knife into the ground by our feet. Was anyone else as stupid in their younger days ?

Not as cool as Jim's picture this morning but still pretty cool for summer, 12C/54F and rising to no more than 18C/64F. At least it means we don't need to open the bedroom window at night, which is just as well as wasps look to have made another home for themselves in the roof space right above the window. Not sure how to tackle this as it is too high up for me to easily reach.

I did get some permethrin spray for the nest above our back door and last night had a go at squirting the stuff through the edge of the slates. Instuctions recommended an 8 second blast. I bottled out after about 4 seconds when the first one flew out from under the slates to see what was going on.

74 going to 94. Hit 100 again yesterday, but got a small thunderstorm last night, so rain at last! Looking forward to checking the rain gauge this morning and finding something other than bird poop and fried insects.

Jim, thanks for sharing such a pretty pic. You beat Eric's 54/64 forecast for a snow lover like me. That looks like one of the trails I've "hiked" ...on the cardio machine that I use...it has a flat screen with trails you appear to be hiking - mostly USA, but one set of trails in NZ...several areas like Pancake Rocks, and several national parks in the mountains like Arthur's Pass.

RS, just can't imagine going through your dental journey. Hope it all goes smoothly from here.

Spent most of the afternoon cleaning out part of the shed, then assembling the new shelves and stacking stuff on them...5 gallon buckets of hydraulic fluid, gas and diesel cans, etc. More to do today.

Coffee is done brewing. 67° with overcast skies this morning. Heading to 81° with thunderstorms. Most of the rain missed us. .1" total. Good visit with son and family. Nice travel trailer with all the toys. Got all the dirt moved yesterday and started leveling to put squares in place. Going to continues for a couple of hours today. After pond cleanup. Have to be careful. Seeing little fish swimming around rocks on edge of pond. Then some NASCAR in afternoon.
RS, hate going to dentist. Hope yours mouth heals soon.
Good Morning All.

Arthur's Pass and Punakaiki (Pancake Rocks) are way down in the South Island. This one is the Whakarewarewa Mountain Bike park in the middle of the North Island. (about an hour away and right next to a large thermal area) Miles and miles of forestry roads and 56 mountainbike tracks. It is very rare for it to snow there.

76 outside this AM. 97 percent humidity. T-Storms maybe this afternoon.
This AM I am in recovery mode from the bushhogging. It was way too hot for that yesterday, and even though I was all hydrated and gatored up, with bottles in hand, I still ended up feel like crap after it was over. Headache and what not. The what not is the neck on a swivel. LOL. I managed to hit only two t-posts on the field. Yeah, roundup is my friend, I should use it. Need to clean up the lines now with the weed-whacker.

After the 'hogging was complete, I found out the blower had a hole in the fuel line. Mines a gasser. Nothing like walking around hot machinery with a nice string line of gas following you around. I though it was a web or something like that. Did I say I thought the sun was strong and it was hot yesterday? LOL.

Storms missed us last evening, one rumbled through around 4PM, lots of wind and noise, nothing. Then another a few hours later, just a douse of rain. More of the same on tap for later, I imagine.

Have a great day all, be safe.

yep. Me and a good neighbor kid played it....would never have played it with a bully.

Jim, That snow pic makes me want a snow cone.

The brake job was a bugger. The car came from a northern climate area, and the salted roads had taken their toll on all the cast iron parts. The rust was averaged about an 1/8" /3 mm thick. My friend was insistent about cleaning it off with some wire wheels and a drill. I let him have at it. He bought new rotors and pads for the front. When we took the rear wheels off to flush the brake fluid, they were worse than the front. We flushed them, put the wheels back on and decided we'd talk about it next week at work about what to do next.

65 right now....a bit cooler today with a high in the upper 70's.

I got absolutely nothing done yesterday. Wifey went out w/ the step daughter and my neighbor stopped over about 11ish. That's when the beer came out and things went down hill from there. I hope things are a bit more productive today.

Not so Good Morning!!!! TBN tossed out my post, proclaiming it was a duplicate of one I posted within the last 5 minutes. :banghead: Now it's complaining about a database error.

78F @ 7:45. Sunny. High 102F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Fire weather warning yesterday so no spraying; I'll try again today. Heat advisory, so probably won't get much done before it's too hot. Then inside for more paperwork.

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend...

RNG your mechanic knows you only pay for work done doesn't he?

Beyond a shadow of a doubt. But he's been paid for work that turned out not to have been done. Now he knows the consequences he faces if he doesn't follow through, and is at least making the effort to do so. And I'm again spending a few days a week there to make sure he doesn't forget.

Only around 90 today, heat index of 105 they say, we got storms all night until around 4. Much needed rain.

Good morning all, 77 here going to 92. Got 2/10th of rain last night and light rain on and off this am. Was really hot yesterday pm but I stayed in. Be careful in the heat.

Rip Be extra careful with the heat, sounds like you over did it.

Have a great day. Ed

70°F and .36 inches rain last 24 hours. Apparently Fernanda is blessing us a bit.

No big plans, resting my shoulder. The half dosage (5mg) seems effective without the doziness.

Be safe
Have a great day.

With our Camp King jack knives... I believe we may have called it a different name. Of course, we all wore leather shoes back then and the knives weren't very sharp - like their owners.

Good Morning, er, afternoon!!! 94F @ 12:00PM. Sunny. High 102F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Tried to post several times this AM, but all I got was database errors and lost text. :pullinghair: Emailed Muhammed, looks like things are fixed now.

Mr Shooz, you can keep your snow. I had enough while living back east to last a lifetime, no matter how pretty it looks or how hot it gets outside!

Didn't get any spraying done yesterday because there was a high fire danger alert, and that means no power tools out in the meadow. This morning it was a high heat alert, so I loaded up the sprayer and went at it. Poured a couple ounces of pond dye into the tank and was pleased with the light blue trace left on the straw colored grass.

glyphosateDye.jpg

I had visions of bright blue stripes, but as can be seen on the left side of the meadow, it's not that visible. I'd tried before with some expensive industrial red dye and it never made enough of a difference to be useful. Dumped most of that in with the blue, figuring a nice shade of purple would result, but it still came out blue. Put out 60 gallons of 3% glyphosate and probably used 8 oz of dye. Not bad, considering the 32 oz. bottle only cost seven bux at TSC.

glyphosateDyeSpill.jpg glyphosateDyeSpillKubota.jpg

I wasn't as thrilled with the mess on the driveway or the back of the Kubota, but I'd expected as much because I ran into the same thing with the red dye I tried before. Fortunately most of it will eventually wash off, but I might have to spread some more decomposed granite to get it gone from the golden colored parts of the walkway.

Yesterday I figured out how the ignition switch went back together on the old/new bike, and learned that all the little parts were there in the process. Put together an Amazon order for a few colors of wire I didn't have that are needed to rebuild the wiring harness; the insulation is so brittle much of it is missing on the old one. Also picked up a primer bulb for the old Craftsman push mower (cheaper than ordering from Sears), a needle threader (the old eyes aren't what they used to be), and a good pair of sewing shears (neither are the old scissors). Also learned I need a special primer for the bumper plastic cement I'll be using on the fuel tank insulation for the VW, so ordered that at the same time.

The temperature gauge was heading for the red when I came in for another tank of glyphosate, and it looks like the cap on the radiator is leaking. It was getting too warm to spray anyway, so I'll finish tomorrow and pick up a new cap next time I'm in town. That's likely to be Tuesday, since tomorrow the rivetnuts I ordered are supposed to be in and I'll be able to install the outside mirrors and mud flaps on the van. Nothing like drilling holes in a brand new paint job to make a person cringe.:confused2:

Hope everyone enjoys what's left of the weekend!

Sorry for the duplicate posts, folks. Looks like they were backing up in the system when I was getting all those database errors, and then all came out at once. I think I deleted the dups (Edit Post, then Delete, then don't forget to click the little round radio button next to the "Reason for Editing" field before you hit the Delete Post button at the bottom).

Looked at the the good morning page this morning, and seen it was having problems. So I put off my post tell it was working right.

The low was 49* overnight and the yesterday was 93*. It's partly cloudy now with a nice breeze. Looks like we might get a shower later.

Going to work on moving some dirt to make a level spot to put the front end loader and backhoe. I have to take them off to put the snowblower on this coming fall.

Hope everyone has a nice day.

Well, today was much more productive!!

Got the PTO Driveshaft cut down for the flail mower (one minor glitch...broke the inner sleeve plastic guard)
Flail hooked up to the tractor...mows quite nicely, but didn't have enough diesel to mow the field...got two passes to see how the flail mower does. Sorry, I left my cell phone up at the house, so no pics this time.

Mowed the lawn with the Deere zero-turn.

I should go back out a weed trim...sure needs it. I'll do that another day.

Back to the flail mower. This one, as some of you know, is a Caroni from Agri-Supply. Definitely a robust machine...but definitely an older design There is the roller and skid shoes. To adjust the height of the roller, one needs to remove the aft bolts on the skid shoes. Then everything falls. I did the job by myself, but two people would have made it a lot easier and safer.

So, now for a couple well deserved beers!!
