Good morning all. Halfway through the morning yesterday I had a change of plans, thanks to the arrival of these.

Twins.jpg

I had been half expecting it, the ewes have been delayed going off for lambing because of the lack of grass at their holiday destination. Transport had to be hastily rearranged and the afternoon was spent seeing them off. The sheep weren't too happy at being rounded up and then having to stand in mud, but at least now they will have a roof over their heads at night and will be able to stay in a warm pen for a day or so after giving birth.

One other ewe couldn't wait either and gave birth to triplets. She was happy with the first two, but her third wasn't wanted. The little fellow struggled to keep up, crows would almost certainly have got him if I hadn't been there.

Great trip report RNG

14 going to a high of 27. Mostly sunny. Wind NW 7 mph.

I will scrape the half melted and refroze driveway today. Maybe I can get it down to the gravel. I will also try to move the piles of snow.

I've got a dump run to do in the afternoon and a post office trip as well. My new suicide knob should be in as well as the new fuel pump for the HHO tank.

That is it for today, stay safe all

Had an after work bowling / food and drinks session. 1st time ive bowled in yrs. I am sore already.
Threw a strike the first time, never got another. Bowling balls sure have gotten heavier.

BEF, at least you managed the real thing.
Our grandson got the Nintendo Wii out a few weeks back for us all to play bowls. Even a lightweight plastic game controller got my shoulder aching.

61 going to 63 and likely rain. Hit 82 yesterday, a record. We've had record lows and highs this year. Some of the maples have already busted open their flowers.

Eric, congrats on your new "grandchildren lambs" and I see that hedge has been worked quite well.

RNG, I pulled my atlas out and had great fun following your well documented trip through NV and CA...quite a long one through what must be some spectacular areas.

BEF, I'm impressed you are well enough to have bowled. I noticed no score was posted :).

Put up two new blue bird houses yesterday, and cleaned out and repaired 4 others, including one that I didn't think they had used. I have one more to put up, but debating 2 choices of locations. Now if only the black snakes will leave their eggs alone once they nest. Also put up our first wren house, inside the barn, where they have built nests in the past in the kayak, under the tractor seat, under the riding mower hood, and in a tarp. Chances are they will laugh at the new birdhouse, and go pick another odd location.

Haircut today.

Got my first tick of the season hiking in the woods or while digging some sand out from around my little bridge.

Fantastic pictures Ron. 13years and I bet you still didn't see / explore everything. The geological formations are very dramatic, varying in as close as 20-30 miles. Trip hopefully this August to Moab. Really want to go to Yellowstone, but Jay made me think about the caldera....my luck and it will blow while we're there..

Visiting Moab is OK in Spring and Fall. Only warning is stay away from Jeep Week. Which happens around Easter each year. If you do not have a Jeep lots of tours or rent one for a week or few days.

29F now mid 30's for high clouds and sun.

Last 3 days of above normal temps help lowing snow levels even muddy up driveway here and there.
Thought for sure sap would start to flow but only trickle so far.

Enjoy the day all.

Good morning all, 55 now going to 58 and 90% chance of rain. Saw a skunk out in the yard this morning looking for grubs or whatever. First one I have seen here though I have smelled it many times. Keep hoping to get my carving knife sharpened but haven't gotten to it yet.

RNG glad you are home safe and had a good trip.

Randy, prayers for you arm, and you.

RIP, prayers for you and your wife.

Have a great day. Ed

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 28° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 40° with some sun. Everything looks kind of gloomy outside. Rain and warm temperatures did not completely melt all the snow. Those left over piles are a mix of dirt and other debris. Want to get out and cleanup this mess. But my back says no. Got PT analysis yesterday. Today is first PT visit. Then 3 days a week for next month. Need to put a note in my calendar to come up with a way to exercise more. Maybe drive over to Mall and walk around a few times each week when it's to cold outside to do it.

RNG, great trip report.

Randy, take care of the arm.

Eric, are you going to hand feed the orphan.

Buckeye, last bowling outing wife and I did ended in a similar conditions for both of us. Have not played again. We do get the Wii out at times. I just do not understand how the wife beats me at it.

Prayers for those in need.

Good Morning All.

63 out going to 80 today.
not enjoying but for sure drinking a half cup of black coffee this morning.
Annual physical and labs in two hours, going to be a stomach grumbling morning.

Concerned over A1C and PSA, those wonderful little acronyms that can create constant issues.

Then to breakfast, food shopping and home to work on machinery.

RNG, glad you had a great trip.

Eric, great pics but melancholy. Why would a mother ewe leave her third child?
Did the lamb ask for a smart phone too early?;)

NWS says we still may get more rain today, but right now it appears to have all been over since about 6 p.m. yesterday. With rain off and on yesterday, I figure I've gotten about 5.01" for the month of February; most of it yesterday. Only got .15" last month. The temperature yesterday ranged from 31 to 34, and it's 31 this morning. With the warmer weather we've had lately, before this last cold spell, I've noticed trees budding, green grass (and weeds) getting started, etc. Need dry weather now so I can get started on the yard work.

Yesterday’s 77 is looking like 55 and falling with strong NE winds. Cloudy and yucky. Arm is sore as heck, kept me awake 15-20 seconds last night!
Gotta run to an early doctor appointment.

BEF- Activity even though painful afterwards is better than inactivity and still having those aches&pains. am happy that you and the wife had a good time.

Eric- Good luck with the rejected lamb. Years ago we rented an apartment at a "working" "hobby farm." The landlady raised sheep. It always seemed to me that the ewes waited for the worst possible weather to drop their lambs. A couple of the ewes were not good mothers initially..

Roy- I am happy to read you made your drive on I91 w/o incident. There was nasty fog there yesterday morning which you probably drove through.

Ron- I still have those nasty looking snow piles around here. It looks like I have more "divots" than I originally believed. Good luck with the P/T.

Daugen- I hope that your physical and bloodwork result in no real surprises.

Randy- Take care of your arm.

Kittyhawk- Good luck with your flights today and especially good luck tomorrow.

Ed- I've smelled a couple, but no skunks seen yet this year.

40F earlier this AM and the temperature is starting to drop. The NWS has issued a winter hazard alert and is predicting a rain to sleet to nuisance snow (2') later today with periods of rain/mixed precipitation through the weekend. I do not mind snow. I am not fond of freezing rain and sleet.

I hope everything in the RIP household is OK.

My + thoughts, prayers, and wishes for all.

I hope that everyone has a decent or at least manageable day today.

34°F and rain this morning, going up to 49° today. More rain again tonight. This is a good thing.

Great pics, RNG. Sounds like a great trip as well. Been many years since I've seen an R80 Paris-Dakar, probably early '90s at BMW Motorrad of St. Louis while I was there for service on my R100RT. Fun-looking bikes.

Congrats on the new arrivals, Eric.

You are definitely putting some of us to shame, Drew. I was proud that I got out and cleared the ditch last weekend. Maybe I do need to start a garden this year after all.

Spent about two hours last evening inside the new studio headphones. They are definitely an upgrade from the old ones. Nice clear sound, very little coloration, and comfortable. I think I'll keep them.

Good Morning!!!! 40F @ 5:30AM. Rain showers early with scattered thunderstorms arriving for the afternoon. High 46F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50%.

Rain is good news but you know it won't amount to much when Wunderground refuses to name a predicted accumulation. Hope it's enough to at least settle the dust on the driveway. Going for mail yesterday the buggy was engulfed in dust when I stopped to let the gate opener work. That's very uncharacteristic for February, usually a wet month.

Good luck with the closing, KH. Bet yer excited to git 'er done!

For some reason, USAF pilots like to train in the canyon below the Father Crowley Overlook, just a little west of Panamint Springs. CA 190 is a fabulous motorcycle road as it climbs out of the valley there, and the pilots delight in startling hapless riders/drivers with their low altitude moc strafing runs and tail stands. I suppose it was too windy for them this time around, though, as the only thing in the sky were clouds and an occasional snowflake. Not much grows out there, either, just a bunch of creosote, mesquite, and sage, very similar to the Middle East where the skills those pilots are practicing could save their lives.

Speaking of yesterday's mail, it contained the brake shoes for the old BMW, and this time they fit. The brake lining was also a uniform thickness all along the length of the shoe instead of the continuous taper exhibited the first time around. I'd guessed pretty well setting up the brake linkage and only had to make one adjustment, and now that end is done. Still have some tweaking to do on the twin leading shoe front, but I did manage to figure out the cable routing and how it was to be connected.

Got everything unpacked and threw the sleeping bag in the washer to get rid of the salt. Still need to figure out how to do the same for the tent, but I don't think all the strings and straps would be too happy being tumbled around in there. More likely I'll just set it up and use the garden hose on it, but that'll have to wait for warmer weather.

Off for a grocery run this afternoon, and will likely stop by the mechanic's place. Can't say I'm looking forward to it as it's always such a disappointing experience.

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!
