Good Morning Everyone!

I want to pay my respects to and thank all the past, present, and future Veterans here for their and their family's and friend's sacrifices. And especially for those who made the ultimate sacrifice. I can post here thanks to all of you.

A showery low 50F start to the day and it is now a showery mid50F day that might reach a showery low 60F in the PM. Not a bad day to travel down to CT to attend my exBIL's family's Memorial Day cookout.

LFN- I hope you find a way to stay connected here.

Ted- I am happy to read how you are taking things "easy." You have a nice place and I like the Jeep. Thanks for sharing. Good luck on Tuesday.

Randy- I am happy to read that the family cookout went well.

Ed- We had a Mitsubishi "Slim Line" mini-split system installed ~10 years ago. We get it deep cleaned yearly. We have had no problems with it (if kept deep cleaned). Above 32F it seems to work "efficiently." Our wood stove and 2 Saint Bernard's required the yearly deep cleanings; most home have their system deep cleaned every two years. Good luck.

"... now I'm about 10 days behind schedule"- wngsprd. I wish:embarrassed: I start planting tomorrow.

My +, thoughts, wishes, respects, and prayers.

Quote: "And then you think you really are pacing yourself, and that heat comes on, your face gets swollen, in my case my left eustachian tube swells partially shut making all kinds of weird echoey noises (aliens?) and I know my Check Engine light has come on" -- Drew

Drew, do you know what causes this stuff with your Eustachian tube? Really weird, the wifey started having the same thing happen when she gets overheated or is working too hard. The Doc's just shrug and look at her like she's nuts.

This has happened to me three or four times, all when I've gotten overheated from doing hard physical work in the heat.
Neck and head swell up I believe because body is sending fluid there as a protective mechanism, maybe as a way of drawing off heat???
So the area swells, and my left ear goes very weird, like I got water in it when swimming in the ocean. And to some degree, I guess I did have
water "in it". Since that area also includes our throats, when I feel something like that, I'm figuring next to go is ability to breath so
immediately in to a/c. Takes about an hour to go away as the swelling goes down.

I've always figured my body was talking to me. A Check Engine light for sure.

Drew, I'm curious, do the beans have a significant taste or texture difference?

Drew, I'm curious, do the beans have a significant taste or texture difference?

I think they are a little thicker and meatier, still tender, but taste? Well I don't get as much "green" flavor, guess that makes sense with all those cool colors running around.

I'm eating them young, like edible pod peas. As soon as the plants get at least a foot tall, I'm going to let them grow larger, and the beans that are shelled are
supposed to be equally colorful.

When I bought a quarter ounce of Calico Lima seed beans from the local Ace hardware, I asked him if the calico beans, again more colorful striped beans the size and shape of lima beans, tasted differently
and his reply was I think they taste all the same. Now he may cook everything in six cloves of garlic too...
But I'm thinking these are pretty first, different inside second, and edible entirely if cooked while young, and cooked a little extra to bring
the sweetness out, but not mushify them.

only one Burpee tenderpod bean picked. Interesting that the international beans were faster starters. Italy and Holland are in the lead.

Z Turn is fixed I'm sure grass is going wild. Simple fix tires got hard so lots of slipping and sliding. Not too bad mower is 13 years old original tires

Did you get the same model tire or did you increase the aggressiveness of the tread? When I had my Ferris I was terrible about tearing up the lawn on sharp turns, very heavy machine,
and I clearly wasn't smooth enough. Another reason for me to go back to a steering wheel.

A special Sunday morning prayer to all those men and women who died in the line of Service.
You aren't forgotten.

My Father could have been one of them in WWII.
And I never would have been...so just being grateful for my existence is a good place to start.

Some generations have a War. Mine was Vietnam.
Some of you older than me remember Korea well.
And here they are announcing the end of the Korean War.
Well, the Koreans are. If they can, and if it's real, I think we should too.

Korean war was just as bad as WWII, outnumbered freezing soldiers fighting for their lives, just as bad
as trench warfare in WWI, just as bad as Gettysburg or the Alamo.
All wars are bad news, some need to be fought, many don't.

Today it's all about trade and money. Maybe money and commerce is now more important
than bigger borders. But it will never protect us against the crazies.
Sadly I think we will always have a War On Terror.

Maybe, maybe, maybe some day we won't need a Memorial Day. At least not for our sons and daughters.

I need to go put some flags out at the end of the lane. Forgot to do that. I do it every year, feel strongly about this.
Just like I won't forget (Never Forget) what happened to my distant relatives in the gas chambers in Belzec.
Lot of folks to pay our respects to.

Thoughtful, Drew.

My next door neighbor, the fireman, is coming over to help me sort the peas.
He wasn't real sure about the snow peas until he tried them and now he's back for more.!
Fat ones Skinny ones
oops, not PC
large bodied peas and eat the whole thing peas
Shellable or not...keep it simple.
Perhaps we should agree on a minimum mm size.

Well one pea squeezer is better than none. I was hoping his wife would come, she's likely better at this,
but she's out food shopping so my neighbor has free time not babysitting one year old son. That little kid toddles along and gets
into everything. Just like he should.

Your interesting factoid for the day is there are no poisonous snakes in Hawaii.
