Good morning!!!!

74° this morning with forecast for only 96° this afternoon. That’s about 5° that what we’ve had last couple of weeks. Still not being troubled with rain. Did get a “mist” yesterday for about 30 seconds.

The only silver lining in this drought is that I’ve been spraying aquatic weeds around edges of both tanks for past 4-5 months. I’ve sprayed areas in stages to preclude overloading tanks with decomposing matter and over absorption of oxygen. Small tank is full of catfish and large tank has bass.

As the water levels have gone down (about 18” so far) I’ve been able to mow a lot of the dead stuff, mostly sedges, and keep cuttings out of the water, thus hopefully precluding / reducing oxygen starvation.

This all started as a project, back in the spring, to eliminate lilypads in the small tank that magically showed up two years ago. No clue where they came from?

These pictures are from back in May over a two week period. Lily pads are completely gone now as is most of the sedge. I’ll post updated pics tomorrow.

This is where the lily pads were.

Got a bunch of outside work done. Had a nice cool breeze at about 10-12mph the whole time. Made it quite bearable. Took many breaks and got off the knee, seemed to make my 'endurance' a little longer.

We decided to smoke a chicken while we were working....only thing I can say is "mmmm, mmmm, mmmm". It fell of the bones. Also did some corn on the cob in the smoker...turned out fantastic. What a wonderful meal to end the day. Now I have to digest after eating way too much before going to bed.

Mmmmm, looks delicious

Depending on the work, The college degree can be the ticket to get in the door, even if the job isnt for that particualar degree. My oldest is a 5th yr sr in engineering, already has a job. He worked this summer, can work over christmas break, and they already said they want him when he graduates.

My youngest isnt sure what he wants, but is taking information system courses. I told him he needs a degree that he can get a job with.

My son removed the exploded sunvisor, so he can see to drive. No electric in it, no light. He said it looks like foam expanded.

He has entered the twilight zone.

I'd take it to the dealer and ask if they have had this event happen on any other vehicles.

Please, please, please don稚 start your fire with gasoline Drew! If you pour it on your burn pile you値l have no idea where the vapors are. It痴 the vapors that blowup. If you need an accelerant, use diesel or kerosene.

If you treat your all of your gasoline, including your 2-cycle mix, with StaBil Marine 360, it won稚 go bad.

Rick, thank you. That is very good advice. Turned out I had a full gallon to get rid of, and so only used half. Most went in one area, and a small trail over to the other side, where I lit it, like a long fuse, and lit it with long steel rake. Tiny little whump, flame went sideways in less than a second across the burn pile about 20 feet (big concrete block burn pile) and lit off the main area.
When I approached the pile the fumes were too strong. So I kept walking until I was upwind, the right side of the picture and then planned my attack.
Very aware the fumes burn, not the liquid, and I approached from a low angle with the rake way out.
If you aren't very careful, yes easy way to hurt yourself. If I could have smelled any fumes when I lit it, well I wouldn't have...

ok, so don't try this at home.........

My son just sent this pic of the elantra sun visor. It appears to have exploded inside. Car was parked when it happened.

In the picture, there appears to be some manner of rectangular indention from the inside of the visor cover. That doesn't look like something that foam would do.

Glad that went off well, Drew. Lighting with gasoline is always a gamble.

Maybe you might consider taking up archer, and launch flaming arrow into it from a safe distance.

If I didn't have that concrete block wall on my burn pile, I'd never be so adventurous aka stupid.
Only time fire got out of pit, in fact both times, was when a paid fireman was watching it/supposed to be watching it, and in dry weather
we lit off the lawn for ten feet. When I do it I stand there with the hose for the first ten minutes. I'm no pyro but you never know when a sudden breeze will carry something hot just where you don't want it.

Friend coming over I haven't seen for awhile, going to go to an Italian restaurant in town, only one that knows how to make a real red sauce.
Living near NJ and NY, I got spoiled...

Just drank a big iced coffee, mowed for almost five hours today, nice day but plenty of exercise. I will have earned my glass of wine.

Drew, just say no to using gasoline for a fire. Even the most careful person cannot control all the variables. It is not worth it to risk your life and the life of others to burn a few gallons of gas.

I had the propane detector alarm going off in my travel trailer. Hit the reset button and it stopped. It was going again yesterday, only with alternating green green red red pattern which says it has a fault. Long story short, I reset it again and it is fine now.

When it had a fault, I looked up a replacement on Amazon, found that you can get propane detector or propane/CO detector, but it says you need to replace it every 5 years. My standard features on the trailer indicate I should have propane and CO detectors.. sure enough the smoke alarm on the ceiling has CO.

My daughter ask me, what good does a CO detector on the ceiling do? CO is heavier than air so settles down low. If the CO detector went off when you were in the trailer, you would be dead. Of course, if you are not in the trailer and open the door to go in and CO detector is going off, you are likely not to stay in there for long.

I found also a nice separate CO detector that has a 10 year battery (non replaceable) and it includes a digital thermometer. I might get one and mount it lower than smoke detector.

Sold Dad's last tractor today a 40's Ferguson. When he bought it 50 years ago it was running and he bought it for $150. Sold it not running & all tires bad for same price.

Randy, prayers sent - that is a terrible disease, especially on the family.

Uncured foam releases fumes and can do that. There shouldn’t be uncured foam but it happens. Saw it a couple of times in 37 years of handling it. Never on a visor.
