Growing up, jury rigged or jerry rigged were pretty interchangeable. Never knew exactly why, but believed Jerry rigged was a remnant of WWII. There was a 3rd variant, much less used and seemed to be reserved for situations more FUBAR, N rigged. Of course during this time we had nuts known as N toes and my favorite chocolate candies at the 5 & 10 were N Babies. I dont recall ever hearing the N word directed at a person until college. Of course i grew up with Frogs, Pollocks, and Micks for relatives and friends, but dont recall anyone being offended.

came in at 6pm after a long day outside but lovely day.
got all the mowing done, three more pails of sealant put down on the driveway, and my flu shot.
Only minor excitement getting the lawn mower stuck, for once I quit early and didn't make a huge mess.
There are some really big trolls in my ditches.

Good morning (evening actually) to all. It was down right chilly this morning, low of 40. Last night at around 9 pm, I let the dogs out, and noticed very light snowflakes coming down in front of the spotlight. Thought I was seeing things, but yes it was snowing ever so lightly. I could hear all the shrubs saying Aaaahhh.

Man, I stay away a few days and a bunch happens with you guys....

Buppies, special prayers out for you. I'm sorry to hear that news. I can't remember who said it, but, NO pictures please.

Drew, are you in the home stretch yet on the driveway? Always seem that an extra spurt of energy comes when your in the home stretch.... Did the trolls help you get the tractor out of the ditch?

Ed, glad the dentist was able to get you fixed up without too much trouble.

Randy, with all the cars you have shown here... Thought maybe I'd ask... Got a '69 or '70 Olds 442 sitting around?

Happy hump day to everyone, one more day at work this week for me...seems like it won't come fast enough.

Prayers out for those needing, extra ones for those with special needs.

Nasty storm on way home from work. Very hard rain, couple inches in 20 minutes. So much water running down my lane, i drove in other lane while no one was coming.

I saw a truck hung up in a flat yard, just too much water.

Good evening all. 62F this morning , overcast, 1 inch in the rain gauge, calm wind. Wind kicked up almost right away, had another shower late morning, maybe .2 in the gauge and temp cooled to 56F. Sky started to clear late afternoon, wind hit 20+ on the gusts, and high temp was 74F at 12:01 AM. Men's meeting this morning, no bike due to wind and wet. Did battle with ATT to get phone unlocked, wife's phone no issues, mine they had a bad IMEI # and could take 2 days to get that fixed, and more time to get phone unlocked:mur: Did get a good nap in :dance1:
Ed glad dentist went ok.
Ted SNOW??
Randy, can't wait to what you sell next
prayers for all.

73 this morning. 61 currently. Light rain moving thru. 3.5 inches over the weekend. Mom had 6.5 inches. About 10 miles away.

Buppies. Sorry to hear that report. Best of luck. Seen dermatologist for the first time a few weeks ago. Both the places she cut off did come back benign.

Randy. Nice cars. Who carries the shipping insurance for that deal?

Took youngest son to doctor Monday for a checkup. He’s growing just not as fast as they like. Just keep doing what we are. Then Tuesday I went to the allergy doctor. Had a little reaction to last weeks shots. So she backed me down 2 doses and set my maintenance dose. Now I only go every 2-4 weeks. Till June. Then we’ll move to monthly. I’m a year in and she’s expecting 3 more years. Then we went and had an interview with ABA therapist for the oldest. Went well and that process is up and running. Waiting on insurance company and doctors.

So today is my Monday. I mean first day this week I actually got to work all day. Got the door knob and deadbolt installed in new building. But having some trouble. Door is a French style and came predrilled with 3 knob holes. Lock set came with knob and deadbolt. Then made me buy a dummy knob. But it requires something solid to screw it to. IMG_0038.JPG
Any ideas? I’ve already thought about cutting blocks and glueing them in but not sure. Then started figuring out what I had to do to hang the ceiling.

Drew when you’re done my driveway is short. Hasn’t been sealed in the 9 years I’ve been here. Buppies don’t faint.

Growing up, jury rigged or jerry rigged were pretty interchangeable. Never knew exactly why, but believed Jerry rigged was a remnant of WWII.

My dad told me they had to be careful what they touched in WWII, as even the most innocent looking objects could have been Jerry rigged, such as explosives hidden in a left behind bar of soap.

Good morning all. It's getting a bit embarrassing to tell you all how great the weather is here again in the UK. A few more days of the same coming too, so if anyone wants to dry out and take a holiday at short notice, forget Hawaii for once, this is the place to come - then you can drive in the left hand lane as long as you like without anyone complaining

CWB, the 17 HMR rounds must have looked tiny compared to what you were shooting last week. It is probably Max's favourite calibre - when I take my Sako Quad out of the cabinet, there is always a good chance I will be bringing home a rabbit or two. Downside is that the rounds cost us four times as much as .22LR, so it gets expensive for plinking.

Farmer, how about a flanged aluminium blanking plug for that hole ? Now who do we know who is looking for any excuse to spend more time with their new new lathe ... :)

Good morning all. 65 going to a high of 62 with an 80% chance of heavy rain. Got the lawn mowed and trimmed yesterday and then just stuff in the house. No plans for today, will see what comes.

Farmer, tell me what you need if I can help.

Prayers for all, have a great day. Ed

67 now going to a high of 66...??? Rain today.

After some fog, most of the day arrived in warm sunshine yesterday, which seduced me into a sort of preventive mowing...didn't quite need it, but with a couple of days of rain predicted, decided to hit it earlier and prevent a mowing of tall damp grass later.

Almost stepped on this little guy while hiking at the battlefield park...well camouflaged.

Eric, my wife's Highlander (Toyota) has the adaptive cruise control...works well, and easy to use/adjust. First time I used it I had it set to max distance, and later realized it had slowed me down as I approached pretty far behind a truck...I moved to the left lane to pass and then reset it to let me get closer before it slowed the vehicle. Very nice feature.

63 outside presently more rain today high of 70 before falling in the afternoon one to three inches expected then no rain in forecast for a week. We really need to dry out some

Farmer I know very little about sealing and my opinions would be quite different from most. People seal their driveways too much in my opinion. If I was going to seal mine no more than every three to five years

Prayers for all those in need, Ed glad you had a safe trip and I’ll bet the leaves are starting to get pretty

Removal is scheduled for October 08 bet I’ll have fun sitting down

Wife’s car has Dynamatic cruise control she really likes it I’ve used it but not that fond of what it does

it really is, took me a few seconds looking around to find it, amazing adaptation
Jerry rigged, such as explosives hidden in a left behind bar of soap.
Ok, a Jerry is a German soldier and also a gas can.
Jerry rigged means booby trapped, jury rigged?

it means it done been fiddled with...in my worst English.
Duct tape, baling twine, wire, something is holding it together for a little while.
Something to keep you going until whatever is fixed.
Like the tape I put on the throttle of my push leaf blower to hold it at top speed, since like a
real dummy I oiled the throttle mechanism, now it won't grip tightly enough and the engine slows down.
So the tape is my "rigging".

I bet we can all think of some examples of temporary fixes we've done.
Some of them which might not meet normal engineering standards...

Rain coming in this afternoon, looks like a big system working its way East, starting all the way down in Mexico and Texas. That usually means a lot of precip pulled up from Gulf and sent our way. Lawn is mowed, don't care, though driving in rain all day tomorrow is something I'd like to avoid.

73 going up to 87 today. Looks like a real drop in temps soon.
