Growing up, jury rigged or jerry rigged were pretty interchangeable. Never knew exactly why, but believed Jerry rigged was a remnant of WWII.

My dad told me they had to be careful what they touched in WWII, as even the most innocent looking objects could have been Jerry rigged, such as explosives hidden in a left behind bar of soap.

Good morning all. It's getting a bit embarrassing to tell you all how great the weather is here again in the UK. A few more days of the same coming too, so if anyone wants to dry out and take a holiday at short notice, forget Hawaii for once, this is the place to come - then you can drive in the left hand lane as long as you like without anyone complaining

CWB, the 17 HMR rounds must have looked tiny compared to what you were shooting last week. It is probably Max's favourite calibre - when I take my Sako Quad out of the cabinet, there is always a good chance I will be bringing home a rabbit or two. Downside is that the rounds cost us four times as much as .22LR, so it gets expensive for plinking.

Farmer, how about a flanged aluminium blanking plug for that hole ? Now who do we know who is looking for any excuse to spend more time with their new new lathe ... :)

Good morning all. 65 going to a high of 62 with an 80% chance of heavy rain. Got the lawn mowed and trimmed yesterday and then just stuff in the house. No plans for today, will see what comes.

Farmer, tell me what you need if I can help.

Prayers for all, have a great day. Ed

67 now going to a high of 66...??? Rain today.

After some fog, most of the day arrived in warm sunshine yesterday, which seduced me into a sort of preventive mowing...didn't quite need it, but with a couple of days of rain predicted, decided to hit it earlier and prevent a mowing of tall damp grass later.

Almost stepped on this little guy while hiking at the battlefield park...well camouflaged.

Eric, my wife's Highlander (Toyota) has the adaptive cruise control...works well, and easy to use/adjust. First time I used it I had it set to max distance, and later realized it had slowed me down as I approached pretty far behind a truck...I moved to the left lane to pass and then reset it to let me get closer before it slowed the vehicle. Very nice feature.

63 outside presently more rain today high of 70 before falling in the afternoon one to three inches expected then no rain in forecast for a week. We really need to dry out some

Farmer I know very little about sealing and my opinions would be quite different from most. People seal their driveways too much in my opinion. If I was going to seal mine no more than every three to five years

Prayers for all those in need, Ed glad you had a safe trip and I’ll bet the leaves are starting to get pretty

Removal is scheduled for October 08 bet I’ll have fun sitting down

Wife’s car has Dynamatic cruise control she really likes it I’ve used it but not that fond of what it does

it really is, took me a few seconds looking around to find it, amazing adaptation
Jerry rigged, such as explosives hidden in a left behind bar of soap.
Ok, a Jerry is a German soldier and also a gas can.
Jerry rigged means booby trapped, jury rigged?

it means it done been fiddled with...in my worst English.
Duct tape, baling twine, wire, something is holding it together for a little while.
Something to keep you going until whatever is fixed.
Like the tape I put on the throttle of my push leaf blower to hold it at top speed, since like a
real dummy I oiled the throttle mechanism, now it won't grip tightly enough and the engine slows down.
So the tape is my "rigging".

I bet we can all think of some examples of temporary fixes we've done.
Some of them which might not meet normal engineering standards...

Rain coming in this afternoon, looks like a big system working its way East, starting all the way down in Mexico and Texas. That usually means a lot of precip pulled up from Gulf and sent our way. Lawn is mowed, don't care, though driving in rain all day tomorrow is something I'd like to avoid.

73 going up to 87 today. Looks like a real drop in temps soon.
